 The Wii's CPU is alot more efficient though. It uses a PowerPC CPu whereas the xbox used a mobile celeron CPU. 

I always thought it was stupid when people said the wii was a gamecube, Nintendo said themself that it is 2X more powerful then the gamecube.

We can all agree that Xbox was the most powerful last time around, right? Well, let's compare Xbox to Wii:
Xbox:
733 Mhz CPU
233 mhz GPU
64MiB DDR RAM @ 200mhz

Wii:
729 mhz CPU
243 mhz GPU
88MB DDR3 RAM @ 700mhz + 3MB texture memory.

The Wii is far more powerful than the Gamecube based solely on the fact that it is even more powerful than Xbox. The only advantage Xbox has is clock speed, but the Wii's CPU is far more efficient. The Wii is inarguably more powerful than Xbox and Gamecube.

This raises the question, "Why do most Wii games look so terrible?".

There are three simple answers:
1. All of the current (non-PS2 port) Wii games were either completely or party developed on modified GC development kits and then ported to the Wii. Nintendo did not get the development kits out in time.

2. There are a hell of a lot of PS2 and GC ports

3. Nintendo obviously was not stressing graphical capabilites and performance with the announcment of the WIi. Seeing no pressure from Nintendo and seeing the Wii's potential selling power, the developers opted to rush as many games to launch as possible, not worrying about how they looked because Nintendo didn't care.

The good-looking games are coming. The Wii may never compete with the Xbox 360 or PS3 in terms of graphics, but I guarantee that it will distinguish itself from the Xbox and Gamecube in the near future. Don't look at the current games. These are the games that show what the Wii is actually capable of:
-Pokemon Battle Revolution
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Driver: Paralell Lines
-Resident Evil: The Umbrella ChroniclesLanceUppercut77

Those numbers confirm that the machine is not even twice as powerful as the gamecube. Am I supposed to be impressed? When we consider that Wii has to use a lot more system resources to run its operating system than the gamecube did, We can guess that the Wii is in fact very close in performance to the xbox. Quite where these silly Wii fanboys keep pulling these ideas (3-4 times more powerful than a gamecube) from , I don't know.

Its very simple.. The Wii IS last gen technology, Ask someone who programs for the thing or works in the industry.
