We all know that the next Wii will feature AMD's Trinity APU but not much as been revealed about the specs of Trinity, but accoding to this (below) Trinity may have 4 Cores and DX 11 GPU:

http://www.fudzilla.com/processors/item/23525-amds-2012-cpu-lineup-detailed

"The Trinity APU features up to four Piledriver CPU cores paired up with DirectX 11 GPU core."

It's shouldn't be a surprise I suppose, considering AMD's next APU is supposed to have 50% less power consumption than current APU's and less cost which would perfectly fit Nintendo's model of less cost + less heat from their console hardware.

They may use a slightly downgraded GPU for their next console that's based on this GPU.

Less power is good. But is usually also means less performance.

Wii U dev kits don't appear to be finalised yet. Don't expect cutting edge tech like brand new APUs etc Ninty will opt for off the shelf tech.

So you're assuming they willput in some incredibly weak GPU/CPU into the WiiU and the next gen cosoles will be able to make it look like the Wii. Keep dreaming there's a good chance that may not happen this time.

If this is going into a console, it's most certainly the new Xbox, who has already been rumored to use a Bulldozer APU.

Wii U is getting an IBM CPU and a RV770-based GPU, not an APU

That didn't take long. Anyway, considering the dev kits aren't finalized yet it's a possibility.

aye there not finalised. but IBM have confirmed that they are working with ninty on the wiiu. http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/34683.wss as have AMD http://ir.amd.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=74093&p=irol-newsArticle_Print&ID=1571702&highlight= note they say graphics processor...not APU. two very different thing. 2 things we can say about the wiiu wth absolute certainty is it will have an IBM CPU and an AMD GPU. that is fact. its coming straight from the horses mouth. which is my point. unless the TC has a link of equal or better credibility his assertion that the wiiu will use trinity is incorrect.

Kinthalis

yea rv770 = dx10 card based around the hd 4770 or 4730.

the 4730 is a bit stronger than a modern hd 6670 dx11 card and the hd 4770 sits around the same preformance as the hd 4830/9800gtx

i know this slounds like hebrew or something to the un-knowledgeable but all of those cards out preform the apu's 6650m (abut equal with an 8800gs)

Who would one an all on die GPU/CPU? not me. Might as well put notebook parts in it and get crappy performance.

I have no qualms with the WiiU, and even if the next consoles that come out from Sony and Microsoft are more powerful- Nintendo should and hopefully will stick to what they know and do best and make family friendly, fun games that is accessible to many demographs and set themselves apart.
