I think it seem obvious that the Wii will sell the most consoles between it, the 360, and PS3. I predicted that it would sell the most when I knew the definite prices of the 3 consoles.
Most people who buy gaming systems are fairly ignorant when it comes to games. They are going to see a 250 price tag, and from that they might decide soon after that a funky new controller is cool and that they are going to buy a Wii so they can play the yearly Madden game EA has to offer.
I've been thinking the Wii would sell well from the beginning, but I've also thought the Wiimote was bad from the beginning.
Being "innovative" is nice, but the Wiimote sucks the same way the DS does. I've been disappointed with my DS (un-asked-for present) for a few years now for the simple reason that the touchscreen is almost never used usefully and having two screens is almost never an advantage (and because Pokemon Diamond isn't as fun as Pokemon used to be).
The best Wii game so far is arguably Zelda. It doesn't use the Wiimote to an advantage at all. It's not "innovative" to use the Wiimote when you are playing a game that clearly controls better with a conventional controller. I think there's no question about this.
A game like Zelda will control better with gamepad than Wiimote. A platformer will control better with a controller. A technical racing game will never be as fluid using the Wiimote as a controller or wheel. Shooting games on the Wii so far suck, and I think that's the way it's going to continue to be (other than Metroid which might be another OK lock-on shooter).
I think it's a big punch in the face to the Wii and its Wiimote that many peoples' most loved Nintendo exclusive, Super Smash Bros, won't be using the Wiimote (I am so glad of this).
There's also the fact that the Wii's graphics are wayyy behind, and the system is pretty expensive in hardware/price ratio.
