Wii-Remote, a gimic?

OXM states that Wii may be a and they believe the controller is gimicy. I don't necessarilly believe this, but the wii have yet to prove the potential of the Wii-remote, so we'll just have to wait and see wont we. I'm not biased though I own an Xbox 360 I debate wether the wii is worth a buy or is it going to lose popularity fast. I also wonder whether first person games will be fun, glitchy, tiring on arms, or the greatest thing to come to the gaming industry.Brandonio358

The Wii most definitely isn't a fad.

The controller IS indeed a gimmick, but that doesn't make it bad...

My concern is what is to stop M$ or Sony from releasing a motion controller similar to the Wiimote? Games could be made with that in mind, as an option. Then again, things like that never really took off (gun games, superscope 6, you get the picture).

Rumble was a gimmick, analog sticks were a gimmick, on-line was a gimmick, touch screens were a gimmick, and guitar controllers were a gimmick.  Gimmicks don't have to be bad, and they don't have to be a fad.

Yes, because we all know that the GC could design 3d caricatures, surf the web, play full sized optical discs, check the weather, had a 512 MB flash drive, and ran on very little power.Tylendal

RE4 wasn't a lauch game.  We have yet to see a game like RE4 or MP that has truly pushed the graphical limits.

he's obviously right, no wii game has better graphics than even God of War 2 on PS2, hell, even PSP games look better than some wii games 

If someone starts to make some big games for Wii using Wii mote for slash/shoot or whatever the Wii will rule even with GC graphics.

what planet are you from? re4 has been ripped apart graphically, just not in the ridiculous console

and the "it will get better in time " should be no excuse, nintendo proclaimed that since wii is an extension of gc, developers could produce great graphics right out of the box, SURPRISE SURPRISE!  its not happening ninty!
