WiiU will not be good enough to sell ever.

Bought one, and I don't regret it. It's already got some great games, and more are coming. This thing is shaping up to be the next Gamecube, and a lot of people are going to miss out because of their ignorance or biases. Their loss.

Did Nintendo even have a conference last E3? I remember they didn't have one but I'm not sure if it was E3. I wish they become more like Sony and MS as in hardware spec-wise but keep their unique ideas. I knew when they didn't have a show like MS and Sony, they were in trouble. The Wii-U is not even a factor anymore even if it releases another Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kart and Brawl game.

This is how bad it is as a console. X1 and ps 4 sell for £350-450 and are expected to. People are saying wii u will pick up if it drops below $100. That's what people think it's worth to them.

It's ignorant to denounce someone's intelligence based on what they enjoy, and using fecal jokes to back it up is the mindset of a child. I hope you are a child because if you're an adult and using this kind of logic, you're in for a rough go of it. The Wii U is a great console for people who enjoy Nintendo games. And the truth is, not everybody enjoys playing online games with annoying strangers who spout off all kinds of mindless banality because they know the person on the other end of the screen can't hit them.

Thankfully for me it isn't up to you how I get enjoyment from video games. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Which is unfortunate when there are people like you on the net. What I deem worthy and what you deem worthy are two completely different things, and your opinion won't change that.

But shouldn't the main selling point of any console be the exclusives? I mean, why were the PlayStation and PlaySrtation 2 so good? Wasn't it the exclusives? Because when it came to hardware both the consoles were lacking compared to the competition.

As for your response earlier, Explain to me why WiiU's Line up is so "great" when all that is coming for the system is a few Indie titles, some GBA releases and less than 5 retail releases through out the entire year. That does not scream out "great" when the other Systems are getting LOADS more than what WiiU is getting.

WiiU released in 2012! That's more than enough time for Developers to get a good feel for the system. PS3 launched in '06 and started getting good games in '08 Metal Gear, Infamous, Batman....the works! People started taking notice! WiiU? People have taken notice...but they ain't buying it. They don't want it. They want what the other guys are getting. They're getting Watchdogs? WiiU's BARELY getting Watchdogs! Assassin's Creed 3 and 4 were both released on WiiU, was Liberations ever considered for WiiU? Guess not!

Face it, this coming from a pretty hardcore Nintendo fan, a fan despite saying these things will CONTINUE to buy their latest releases and buying games for the dying system that is WiiU. WiiU is just not having a good year and that's a fact.

When I go to game stores I gravitate towards Nintendo games and I tend to KEEP my Nintendo games, because I feel like they're so overlooked they have more value than a game that's on Playstation or an Xbox. Even If there are some "rare" games on Playstation or Xbox I just don't see the value in them. Nintendo games just seem to be more enjoyable to obtain, Getting Both Tales of Symphonias on Gamecube and Wii just feels more satisfying than just getting the PS3 game. So go ahead and keep calling me flip flop. Because I know my stance and really I've seen your behavior in other places like Miiverse, Youtube, Facebook, Reddit, and Nintendo forums everywhere.

These guys like you keep saying "Oh Nintendo games are so much better than Third Party! Third Party's Trash!" or "I don't buy Nintendo for Third Party, I buy Nintendo for Nintendo Games!" and I say they're the problem because that attitude is really killing Nintendo.

No Online on Games that really should have Online. No Join Feature. Half the Features the Wii had are not even on WiiU. The List goes on and on. And If you only buy and play Nintendo Consoles for Nintendo Games and you have another system for the rest...Guess what? You're no better than people saying Nintendo should go Third Party, Why? No, there is no such thing as a "Secondary Console". That's a myth. Wii somehow got by it with it having such a diverse library from the rest, but have you seen WiiU's library? The frequency is clearly not acceptable, but their games are amazing. If you don't own a Wii U you're missing out. If you only have a Wii U you're missing out. It's pretty simple.

It's not a bad game, but it wasn't a Prime game in both that it wasn't Metroid Prime or a "Prime" Metroid game. The Controls weren't at all intruding and they felt very fine to me. The Game was leading into to being a very cinematic experience and I thought it was an interesting Change from Nintendo and I thought they chose the right series to get Cinematic with since Metroid has a deep story and has had a history of implementing cinematics in the games ever since Super Metroid and it was nice to see more about the Metroid Universe than just extra Pictures of Samus at the end of some games. While you didn't find any upgrades to your suit the upgrades came along as the game progressed, There's a game, I'm sure you know of it, called "Tomb Raider" I thought it was interesting that many people slammed Metroid Other M for doing the whole "You're allowed to upgrade yourself, Samus" bit and not saying anything about Lara's "Here's that Upgrade that allows you to progress the story" hand outs. Other M to me just felt fine, It was linear and to me a bit short, but it did a lot of things that other console users were used to in games like Uncharted or Devil May Cry yet no one slammed those games for what they were (except maybe Devil May Cry) so it just baffled me that It was okay for Developers to do these things in those games, but when it comes to Metroid, NOPE can't do that. Not even once except they did just that on the Gameboy Advance...

yet when you weigh down the possibilities of what you're going to miss out on WiiU and what you're going to miss out on X1/PS4/PC.......WiiU you're not missing a lot.

I own all three systems. All three have exclusives that I am eagerly awaiting.

Just bought a wii u myself and the system is awesome. Got super Mario bros U and Mario 3d World and both are awesome games. Going to pre order Mario kart 8 soon.

Well, considering I buy all the consoles and don't limit myself, I'd say I have far more taste than you. At least I can play as many of the games I want to, from as many different devs as I want to. And again, what you deem tasteful and what I deem tasteful are two completely different things. Sure, it's the truth to say the Wii U is doing badly. Nintendo will never make games for competing platforms. It's much more likely that if the gave up making home consoles they'd just stay exclusive to their portable consoles. Which would be great regardless, as Nintendo's portable consoles have always been the best. But I don't want them to quit making home consoles. A large majority of my all-time favourite games have been released exclusively (at the time of their original release, at least) for Nintendo consoles.

The GameCube may have been a commercial failure, but it was a bloody good console. It's funny really, because it seems to be more loved now then it was in its day. At least it gets some recognition for how good it was today. The PS2 was the better console, and I love the Dreamcast more, but I played my GameCube to death. It's just a really good console.

Nintendo is not having a good year, with Slow Download Releases, 2 retail games over a 4 month period, no quality control, and 3rd Parties leaving them left and right, I can't continue saying "Everything will be fine!".

Nintendo needs to learn they need to change in order to survive. They need to step their game up or they're going to be left in the dust and that's exactly what's happening to them right now. That's a completely different situation and really no different from your own. You just pointed out Blind Fanboyism from the Sony fanbase, I'm pointing out your own blind fanboyism for Nintendo, both sides are the Problem. Dark Souls isn't the Problem. The franchise started on PS3 with Demon Souls, but it has long since broke off of those chains to make Dark Souls so everyone could play it and not just a select few. I didn't start playing the Souls games because of Demon Souls, I started playing because of Dark Souls and people saying it's plum out amazing.

The bad press from Nintendo comes from Nintendo's own problems. Just look at the VGAs. Nintendo comes up and starts hyping stuff up by saying "We're going to show footage of an Upcoming game people!" and most of us were expecting Zelda or better yet Metroid and NOPE Cranky Kong. Everyone was generally disappointed on that in every way. Sony is getting good Press because they know they're doing things right in the gaming industry. Everyone is just eating up that PS4 juice and they made a system that 3rd Party developers are completely pleased with. BUT GUESS WHAT? SONY is also getting BAD Press everywhere else.

Jack Trenton steps down, Sony selling their HQ, Sony selling their Computer Divisions. That's bad press. But they're still in the lead in Gaming Hardware with the PS4. Why is that? Tell me?

Nintendo is last thanks to not being prepared enough (WiiU was a rushed console. I loved it, but I won't deny that fact.) Sony is in first for taking all the criticism they had for the PS3 and putting that in to making the PS4, of course it comes with a price and we're seeing it.

I think if Wii U had way lower price tag than PS4 and was bundled with a game of Zelda caliber or main Mario series. It could sell really good. But the price of that bundle should have been ... really low to compete. Like 200$ max. Something that wont happen ofc.

If that were true, and all Playstation gamers supported Sony no matter what, Sony would not be struggling to climb out of the hole it currently finds itself in. During the PS3's early years, people were not happy with them at all. So unhappy in fact, that Sony ate through all the profits made in the PSX/PS2 era through their various blunders made with the PS3.

Playstation is succeeding now because Sony has corrected their course and are now doing things right. They've listened to what gamers want: they've made a powerful system which is cheaper than its competitors (One), whose focus is games. No lame gimmicks are shoehorned on it, like the Kinect (I for one don't think the Gamepad is really a gimmick, just poorly and under-utilized so far), no living room or family focused strategy. It's a machine designed by a developer for developers, and the developmental community was in close collaboration with Cerny during its creation. You're wrong.....developers were heavily considered, it's not just "what they had to settle for". Mark Cerny is now be heavily lauded for what he did while creating the PS4. Many devs are now singing PS4's praises and we are seeing the results. There are many games in the pipeline that are looking to have an edge over the One. On top of this, Sony has made PSN+ a very attractive proposition that has attracted millions and continues to grow, and they soon will be bringing out PSNow, the first streaming gaming service ever.

All in all, Sony has, and is, making a great effort not only to ensure developers are happy, but that gamers are as well. They are pushing forward, and people are reacting in kind.

Nintendo, on the other hand, is currently suffering from a lack of action and poor decisions made in the past that are now all coming to a head at once. They launched a poorly thought out system with no 3rd parties in mind during its inception (as they have for generations now), and as a consequence we are seeing the worst 3rd party support for any Nintendo system ever. A system with 7 year old tech, arrogantly asking far over what it was worth. They've not made any games that demonstrate the true strength/necessity of the Gamepad. Their online infrastructure is severely lacking and struggles to keep up to LAST gen standards in areas. Their virtual console sucks (The Wii's was better). They still have no universal account system for their digital content. Many of their games, as good as they are, are safe and predictable, and new IPs? Aside from TW101 (which was a medium budget game) and X, look no further than low budget endeavors on the e-shop that many would be hard-pressed to name. They continually neglect the Western market and are extremely Japan-centric in an ever-shrinking Japanese market. Instead of doing things to change the above, they instead come out with excuses and apologies.

There's very valid reasons people are complaining about Nintendo......they are not progressing. They are stagnating, and they are the problem, not the people who won't support them. You don't have to look very far to understand why the Wii U is basically dead and Nintendo is floundering.

Nintendos failings are a product of their own doing. To say it's the fans that ''Just accept whatever nintendo gives them'' is absurd. And to say it's the nintendo fans who ''Buy third Party games on other systems'' fault is also ridiculous. The Wii-U's failings go back to along list of bad decisions that Nintendo have been making with their brand since 2011. They didn't have the foresight to see what could happen the Wii brand if they didn't support it. And they didn't have the immediate awareness to realize what people were saying about the brand as they continued to ignore it. They were basically arrogant and it bite them hard.

Wii-U's problems were caused by Nintendos own deficiencies, not by any particular type of fan they have.

They must of really been puffed up with pride, and smoking crack like no tomorrow, thinking they could repeat the same success they had with their Wii by simply making a few revisions and jumping the console war with a head start. What they needed to do was build it up from the ground up and make it a true next-generation system. Graphics needed to be a lot better (which isn't too big of a deal), but what they really needed was that 3rd party support (that was the biggest killer). People can't just rely on Mario and Luigi these days, they want more. It needed to really distinguish itself from the Wii, and that it did not.

They didn't advertise it well either, most casuals/parents never knew this was Nintendo's next-gen system, most thought it was just a peripheral of some sort. Not a lot of effort went into the Wii U and they really thought because of how much the Wii sold they could pull it off again, but consumers aren't stupid, not in this day and age. What Nintendo can do now is release some killer exclusives which seems like they're trying to do or begin to focus on their next system, and this time it needs 3rd party support.

I don't want to hear no bullshit from them stating "Oh no we don't want to compete, we stick with our exclusive brands". If that's the case they've brought this upon themselves and well, I have no pity for them at all. Arrogant business cooperation's can go jump in a lake, although it wouldn't be good for anyone if Nintendo went under. I don't see them making a comeback this generation, all they can do is try and bring their numbers up by moving the console and get some decent numbers on the board. Sorry Nintendo, you don't have my support but I wish you the best.

@LegatoSkyheart: That was a tough statement to read, but very true. I love Nintendo's core games, but that's really it. I keep thinking that they need to keep their handheld market and run with that. I know iOS and Android are coming out with more and more games everyday, but Nintendo has still been able to keep people interested in their handhelds. I think a real game changer would be Nintendo ditching the console market and going totally handheld with the option to connect to a TV via HDMI. Then they'd be able to keep their core titles to themselves and I think 3rd parties would continue handheld support.

As much as brand matters, I don't think Nintendo will ever get back on top. Even with the success as the Wii, developers never really went all out for it because it was still a generation behind. Nintendo still lags behind and even if another console is released in the near future, it would likely be obsolete by the time the next PS and MS console is released.

To be honest, sometimes when I'm thinking about Nintendo, I'm trying to fathom why they don't release more VC titles that people want, or don't give 3rd party developers more access, or just stop with the myriad of different controllers and stick with one. I wonder why their online experience isn't better, and why they don't give the gamers what they want. However, Nintendo has always marched to the beat of their own drum. Some are hits, some are misses, but it seems like they can't continue doing this if they want to keep future gamers interested.
