[QUOTE="Jipset"][QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"][QUOTE="peaceoutmedusa"] I agree, Crysis is the best average looking shooter available.

If Crysis is average so is nearly every FPS released this gen.

You're right, nearly every FPS has been average this gen.

I actually might agree with this...the last shooter I purchased was Killzone 2, nothing coming out warrants a $50 purchase for me.

Crysis? Average?

Yes. Besides the graphics, I really didn't like Crysis at all.

The fact that you didn´t liked it doesn´t mean that´s average.

If it was average,it wouldn´t have got FPS of the year over Halo 3 and CoD4,and GS(and many, many others) wouldn´t have called it one of the best FPS ever made.

Even though i like KZ2 graphics and i think its about equally impressive to UC2,Crysis 2 on consoles and PC of course will beat them in style.nothing in those two games compare to what Crysis 2 does on consoles in open world environment,ok maybe KZ2 post processing(who likes it) and some UC2 vistas, other then that, nothing.

Ok, The fact that you DID like it doesn't mean it's above average, either. I'm posting MY views of the game, I Felt it was extremely average besides the incredible graphics. Other people can disagree, and I'm fine with that, but you can't tell me I'm wrong for posting my views of the game.

Average shooters don't score 9.5 out of 10.

tech + graphics = awesome. truely awesome.
gunplay + gameplay = not awesome.

if it's so awesome then why do I choose a 9 year old game as my multiplayer fix of choice day after day?

for multiplayer Crysis sucks. For single player? I love Halo as much as the next guy. But gunplay and overall gameplay? even if there are points where the game felt very tech demoish with some of its elements. When the game is on, nothing is as exciting and versatile as Crysis's I came I saw I conquered gameplay sty-le. Crysis is at the least a progressive attempt at a FPS. A damn great one at that.

Factoring in destruction - yes. On top of that, I don't have any faith in Crytek's abilities working with fixed hardware - and let's not forget that their console team previously brought us the masterpiece known as HAZE (their last game as Free Radical).

LMAO Crytek and Free Radical have NOTHING to do with each other what the hell are you talking about?

I think yes, there is something on killzoen that lowers the graphics quallity to me, it looks like....hmm that god of war gif you have? See the character's skin? Well thats how the entire world looks to me in killzone 2, like the shaders are kinda weak in comparison with crysis 2.dakan45

Im confused , you are saying Kratos skin looks bad? LOL pretty much everyone has gone on record to say its one of the most detailed character models ever put in a videogame nobody could logically debate that it isnt it looks amazing .

False. Stop saying things that are blatantly wrong.

Crytek UK was NOT purchased to be a "console team." Crytek Frankfurt is doing all 3 versions of Crysis 2. And the work on CryENGINE 3 is spread out between all of Crytek's studios, but is mostly focused at the Frankfurt and Budapest offices.

Crytek UK, is primarily focused on developing its own IP development, but as with any major studio, there is a certain level of crossover between projects. Crytek UK is assisting on Crysis 2, but it is NOT tasked with doing the "console versions."

They weren't hired as a console specific team. They were hired as a satelite studio in the UK seeking to attract the talent that has been the driving force behind a large number of developers within the UK. Crytek purchased them with the intention of using that studio to attract talent from the UK. It had NOTHING to do with "console specific development," because as with all projects currently being worked on by Crytek, the games made at Crytek UK will be completely multiplatform and optimized to take full advantage of PC technology, as well as taking full advantage of the consoles.

And just to clarify, Crytek UK was not brought in to work on the console versions of CE3. The first CE3 tech demo was shown 1 month after Crytek purchase Free Radical. If they managed to get a workable console version of the engine up in less than a month, then Crytek managed to hire gods among programmers. Crytek UK is not a technical studio. It is primarily an IP studio, working on developing new and existing IPs. This is in addition to serving as a satelite studio to attract talent within the UK.

Close. I'm saying that Crytek lacks console development experience, and when they went shopping for such experience, that they purchased HAZE-caliber talent. It's entirely possible that Crytek will surprise me with a top-notch console title, but without their excuse of "we wrote it for next year's hardware" to fall back on, I don't have high expectations.

They didn't "go shopping" for console experience. They had already created the console versions of CryENGINE 3 prior to the Free Radical acquisition, so it doesn't make sense for them to want to go after a studio to work on the consoles when they had already achieved a workable engine on the consoles with their existing teams(not just that but a top tier console engine)

Crytek UK was purchased because it was convenient to their plans for expansion. Within Europe, the UK is a major source to talented artists, programmers and designers, and if Crytek wanted to expand they needed to make a satelite studio within the UK. As I have said NUMEROUS times, Crytek UK was purchased for reasons OTHER than console development. It didn't hurt, but that was hardly the primary motivating factor in the purchase.

Why are you so strung up on Haze. Free Radical also made Timesplitters, and worked on Goldeneye, I believe. Yes, Haze sucked, but that's like saying Al Pachino starred in GodFather 3, does that instantly make all the other awesome movies he's made irrelevent? :|

It's a question of "what have you done for me lately". If a developer I really like made a bad game, I might forgive them once. Any ordinary dev, not so much.

I don't understand... why is it everytime one graphics king topic dies off someone insists on reviving this dead horse. Crysis 2 will be the best visual game on consoles. There's nothing more to add... if you care so much you could argue that KZ2 has better gameplay than Crysis. I found Crysis gameplay novel at best how it got such high scores was suspiciously EA's fault I believe.

Crysis is not like the corridor shooters with scripted and linear approach.
In order to play Crysis properly and have fun with this game you must have a strategy make decisions before walking into the crossfire it is NOT like run and shoot everything

Crysis is definitely the best fps of all time.

It will probably take the console technology king crown. Talking about KZ2 - it has so many details and graphical effects it's amazing. Probably the best among the console games in this regard. Just slow down a bit during a campaign and you will see. But most of them are just neat effects + smoke and mirrors. Crysis 2 will surely have more raw technological power but I bet it all will be bland compared to all the details GG put into Killzone 2.

I just noticed this guy's response. Trust me, dude, I've playing playing video games for a LONG time, I know what I'm doing, I know full well "how" to play Crysis, so calm down with the insinuations. Anyway, I don't really know what to tell you if you think that Crysis is the best FPS of all time., HL2 is so much better.

I honestly dont see how crysis is a bad or average game, while halo is set on the "superb" pedistol.

Crysis GAMEPLAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Halo gameplay.

brennan7777
ecause Halo has great multiplayer. Crysis multiplayer is garbage.

[QUOTE="lowe0"] Nah. For FPS this year, my money's on Bad Company 2. Also, you should probably add "console" to the thread title. Not that it'll help much.Ravensmash

Wait are you saying Bad Company 2 looks better than Crysis 2? >.

Bad Company 2 looks good...but not that good.

Anyone that says that looks better than KZ2 has not played KZ2, its as simple as that. From what I'm seeing in that video,Crysis 2 doesn't look like anything special on consoles. Those bullshots be damned!

Oh please...just look at newest Cryengine 3 running on consoles, what it does is much more impressive then KZ2.Everything from textures to shaders, destruction and even lightning, real time global illumination, dynamic rain effects on environments...everything.Even though KZ2 is damn impressive game,Crysis 2 will take the crown with ease;)

You are "average" because you cannot play properly this game...
Crysis is not like the corridor shooters with scripted and linear approach.
In order to play Crysis properly and have fun with this game you must have a strategy make decisions before walking into the crossfire it is NOT like run and shoot everything

Crysis is definitely the best fps of all time.

Dynafrom

No it isn't. A quick journey to Metacritic and GameRankings shows that ... And ironically, in 1st place (highest rated game overall on PC) is a very linear and scripted game ...

And HL2 was the most groundbreaking FPS game of its time. Do you even know what you're talking about here?

What don't you agree with? That HL2 is linear and scripted? Did I say that is a bad thing par se?

I think you two are on the same page because MK_Professor was saying how Crysis is the best FPS of all time BECAUSE it isn't linear, and then Kizzo said one of the best FPS of all time is scripted and linear.

Crysis 2 on consoles looks amazing, and far better than what I expected. It's obviously going to be the new graphics king. But that doesn't mean the PS3/360 fanboys are done fighting... Expect a massive flood of "PS3 VS 360 CRYSIS 2 OMG" threads to pop up...

I would definitely want to see something better looking than Killzone 2.
