If anyone recalls, the information was leaked back in 2006 that Bethesda almost didn't fit E.S. 4 Oblivion on one 360 disc, but they did some extra texture compressions and made it fit on the one disc, but it came with the price of slow downs, pop ups, freeze ups and so on.

Which is proven with the G.O.T.Y. Oblivion on 360 it's on 2 discs, on PS3 it's on one.

Now there is speculation that Elder Scrolls 5 will be bigger in scale than it's predecessor and most definitely won't fit on a DVD-9.

You 360 fans getting it yet ? this is what i've been talking about, eventually games will exceed DVD-9 capacity and one day you'll be stopping mid way through a game to do some disc switching, even with compressed textures accept now you'll have compressed textures on 2 discs.

As games get more graphically detailed and bigger in scale they will require more gigs of storage on disc and the 360 media simply won't have the space, and games system analysts Michael Pachter already said Microsoft will never put a Blu-Ray drive in one of there consoles because it's a Sony product and they never want to pay royalties to Sony.

Wow stinks to be a 360 owner, but i'm feeling pretty good about being a PS3 owner about now.

Free online play, 320-gb stock hard drive, Blu-Ray storage and movies, included rechargeable controller, and in my opinion better exclusives, not to mention the reliability of being made in Japan.

It will probably fit on a DVD9. Vanilla Oblivion managed and for all we know Oblivion could have more land mass than Skyrim (going by maps and canon it should but it's not like Oblivion followed the canon maps or landscape very well either). At any rate why would you get it for either console? TES has always been best on the PC and somehow I doubt that's going to change.

Oh man that must suck, having to switch the disc halfway through the game. :( Will TOTALLY ruin the game experience.

Oh well, at least the PS3 one will run at 60 fps at 1080p thanks to the Blu-Ray right TC? :P

How exactly would they split up an open world game onto 2 disks? "You are now entering eastern skyrim. Please insert disk 2"?

Not much of a victory when you have to wait an entire year for it and it costs fourty dollars more than the 360 version. Not to mention you missed out on the entire first game.

Ps - PC version will be better.

I don't think I'll be able to handle switching discs if it turns out to be true. It's just too much work.

It might just be like Mass Effect where a later portion of the game's quests are on the second disc.

It was a 25gb disc for the record, and it ran better on PS3 because it came out a year after with the fixes that already made to previous versions.

Umm no, PS3 Blu-Ray discs are over 50-gb in capacity not 25-gb, and if thats why you think the PS3 version ran better than why didn't any updates get released for the 360 version to make it run better ? wanna' know why because, as i said the PS3 version had almost no compressed textures on the disc because of all the available disc space.

I think he meant the game uses a single layered blu-ray disc, which holds 25 gigs. Dual layered hold 50.

Oblivion on 360 doesnt use all disk space. Only 4.5gb i think.

But yeah, i want Skyrim to be perfect so Bethersda should use 2 disks. One to install and other to run the game, just like Forza3.

Probably, I was amazed when I saw Just Cause 2 was only 4.1GB on 360! Wow, that is the hugest 3D world I have played in and it's fairly small for a 360 game. But doesn't mean ES5 will be like that.

You're half right, keyboard is a terrible gaming peripheral but mouse is unbeatable... Keyboard is a slab with square clunky keys that you have to span your hand out just to use and sometimes ends up with people getting carpal tunnel syndrome, very ergonomic aint it... not lol but mouse is brilliant and no controller can beat it.

[QUOTE="tagyhag"]

[QUOTE="NWA90s"] what do you think im using to write this? i own a pc and i will play it for ps3.curono

The only reason I could see someone playing it for the PS3 than on their PC is if their PC is quite old. :P

CIV V requires a PC MONSTER. Seriously, new games in PC always ask for upgrades. A year old computer will not ninja its way to run games from current year.

What? notsureifsrs.jpg

Really? My pc is pushing 1,5 years and is having no problem whatsoever with any games. Especially not multiplats.

 Someone has a crappy PC and is mad about it. A housemate of mine built his PC three years ago and it still runs current generation games on highest res, and believe it or not, with Crysis on tab! lol

What they need to do is make it so if you install both discs, you can use the first disc to play without a switch on 360. Please Bethesda, for this blessing I pray.

[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]

And here we go, with the disc space arguments.

The gamecube only had 1.5 gb discs, But that didn't stop it from having the best looking games this generation. Aside from literally a few xbox games.

NWA90s

you cant really argue that the ps3s disc can hold more then the xbox 360s, because thats a fact

That has nothing to do with what he said. We all know that Blu-Ray discs have a bigger storage than a DVD. What he is saying is that limited disc space is the end of the world, there are work arounds. Either use disc swapping (not the best choice with Skyrim), or as someone else said, have a second disc that is used for install, like what Turn 10 did with Forza 3.

[QUOTE="Slimmin360"][QUOTE="broken_ops"]wow "stinks" to only own consoles, ill be playing the best version on the best platform, the pc:DAce6301
Yeah with the worst control scheme of all....keyboard and mouse combo stinks.

Ahahahhahahahaha. Have fun fumbling about with crappy console menus and taking time to turn to confront enemies. No hotkeys either. Can't imagine playing a TES game on a console, would be like playing football with a rock.

Are you kidding, console menus are a breeze, and yes you can hotkey items to specific buttons, you've obviously never played Oblivion on a console, and turning a game camera on a console is a heck of alot easier and faster then turning it with a mouse.

Now you're too obvious.

You got greedy.

not to mention the reliability of being made in Japan.

Slimmin360

Yes of course, The PS3 is a superior console to the xbox 360 because it comes from Japan and the 360 doesn't.

Please note my sarcasm.
