Will Gears 2 save the X360 from a mediocre '08?

As someone who only owns a 360....even without the sequel to the greatest game this generation the 360 had an amazing year.

Burnout Paradise, Lost Odyssey, Devil May Cry 4, Army of Two, Grand Theft Auto IV, Tales of Vesperia, and Dead Space made this year already amazing.

And there's still Fable II, Banjo 3, The Last Remnant, Prince of Persia, and Tomb Raider: Underworld.

So 08 was an amazing year either way.

You could skip the cutscenes but you can't skip the numerous midgame installs.

Very true, but the midgame installs were only around 4 minutes. Nothing drastic. Not enough to keep me, and plenty of others from loving the game...

Well, the PS3 did have a handful of "good" titles like Hot Shots Golf, GT5P, and MLB: The Show prior to MGS4... not to mention all the multiplats that both systems share. Nothing to brag about on the PS3 side, but if the PS3 had a horrible year prior to MGS4 then that must mean the 360 has had a horrible year... all the way up to Fable 2?

That's fine man. I'm simply saying that they both had "good" years, despite anyone's favorite... I own a 360 as a PS3, and the only game I'm dead set on getting for the 360 is Gears 2, while I've already got SOCOM, and plan to get Resistance 2... and more than likely LBP. Just different strokes for different folks.

Gears of War 2 will be a great addition to a great year. Exclusive wise, the PS3 has had a better year so far, but thankfully, the Xbox 360 plays more than just exclusives and has a pretty good selection of them to fall back on as well.

We got Lost Odyssey and Ninja Gaiden II, earlier this year.

Tales of Vesperia came out the other month. Fable II, Banjo and Gears are coming. And don't forget all the sweet multiplatforms.

You're saying that Microsoft lowering prices on their console is somehow a Negative for 360 consumers. And PS3 being a hundred dollars more expansive is better.

Lowering prices does win over consumers. I saved a hundred+ dollars by buying a 360. Miscrosoft did me a huge favor by passing on the savings they've made with decreasing hardware prices. I was able to buy 2 additional games and still pay the same price I would have paid for a PS3.

360 sales doubled since the price drop, 360 consumers saved 33% because of Microsoft. If anyone is getting desperate, it is sony consumers who are still playing 400, who are seeing more and more exclusives going towards 360.

has anyone actually seen how long MGS4 actually was if they skipped all the cutscenes? my money is on around 10 hours maybe less.

actually, its the ps3 who was the loser this year. I remember all the threads about how 08 was the ps3's year...but after disappointing reviews and delays, it seems like it fell flat on its face. which sucks because i bought a ps3 this year expecting it to be as good as everyone made it sound like it was going to be

mgs4 was good though. but I personally found it to be the low point of the series

So weird how people seem to have decided PS3 had a great year and 360's sucked.

For me, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden 2, Viva Pinata 2, Tales of Vesparia, Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo 3, Banjo 1 remake, Left 4 Dead(not exclusive, but not on PS3),and Too Human and Infinite Undiscovery if ya wanna go there lol, completely and utterly beat MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Wipeout and Socom.

I listed all the exclusives I could think of for both consoles, and I don't get how 08 can't be seen as yet another year where 360 beats PS3 handily.

GTA IV content is 09 buddy.... pretty much ..the only good things on that list are Gears and Fable 2...the Xbox didn't have that mediocre of a year....well I didn't think it did...but your kinda making me thing other wise posting a list of horrible games
