[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"] Great game > Popularity
gameplay was nothing special in halo. I thought most of the game was very repetitive and diden't take atvantage of the large enviorments in Halo 1
I thought the weapeons were bad. I mean why is it the future and the assualt rifle has like 60 bullets but it can't hit **** because its mainly for close range I guess, makes no sence but im not going to go in depth with the others.
I have no complaint about the enemys.
How is the main character great? he has no great backstory in the game and hes more refered to as a "Badass" character. Really hes popular but I just cannot see why. Must be the suit.
multyplayer is great for consles no complaints.
I thought the vehicals were ok. Nothing great but they were kinda cool.
Halo is a casual game overall its not for the better people who played better games but it can still appeal to them overall if they like that space stuff.
And the First Halo has got to be the most overrated game I have ever played. the Ending IMO was one of the worst in gameing history and the weapeons, balence, gameplay was just awful. 5.5 score IMO.
AHUGECAT
Great games usually remain popular, however. Take The Matrix - The Matrix 2 broke all sorts of records, but sucked. Thus, The Matrix 3 flopped. Halo 2 was fun and well liked, so Halo 3 was a success as well.
The weapons are great because they are fun to use. Technically you're right - the assault rifle has no distance, but it's still a fun, recognizable weapon. Master Chief is a great character because he is marketable, like Mario. Mario has almost no backstory but people like him too because he is a recognizable, iconic character. Gordon Freeman, Crysis dude, etc. etc. are okay characters but not as great as Master Chief.
Halo is fun. Technically it's not that great, but no other game lets you have hours of endless fun with buddies, the single player is actually pretty fun, and I think people purposely try to bring it down.
Nothing to me was more fun than having like 10 of my friends over, hooking up TVs in all the bedrooms, and going at it on Halo 2 for hours on end, then hitting it up on Xbox Live...
Halo is the best example of a fun FPS, which is what PC FPS lacked. Goldeneye was also a fun FPS which is why it was so successful.
I thought the first matrix was great:)
Mario was a very charming character. Hes set out their for the causals and made one of the greatist platformers ever.
I don't live near my firends so I disagree with the whole play with buddies thing. and with other online games I can play with my"buddies" as well.
I do bring down the single player experiance because it dosen't have a good story, is repetitive, and short.
why would you have 10 friends over at your house all playing halo 3 hooking up other Tv's in other bedrooms when you could be playing online? IDK it dosen't make sence IMO.
I disagree I think PC FPS are better. I mean at least a game like Crysis has everything you would want in a single player experiance. Great graphics, decent story, Epic action sequences, and FREEDOM in the way you play the game.
and I never played golden eye so I woulden't know.
