Will Kid Icarus become the God of War of Nintendo ?

While Kid Icarus on NES and GB were good games.. they never got proper sequels on SNES, GBC, GBA, N64, GC, DS etc. Now that 3DS is getting a new Kid Icarus. is there a possibility that it will become a premier franchise like god of war (both greek mythology games) ?

I think it has the potential to do so. While God of War is the more gory version Kid Icarus could be the more kiddie version..

And we all know that Kiddie pwns!

it could be on rails but sakurai is known for platformer games like kirby rather then shooters

If you watched the trailer you'd see it's not all on rails. The second half of the trailer shows Pit fighting enemies inside a town on foot with free movement. The part where Pit dodges lasers also suggests there are free-flying areas too.

Its actually a fantasy action adventure. Has action, puzzles, fighting combos, rpg leveling & platforming. Not sure why folks like to simplify God of War especially the Nintendo crowd. You see sharing greek mythology is sharing like the same story..

you will always have the gods like Athena, Zeus, Ares you will have the same monsters like cerberus, medusa etc. you will have the same side heroes like hercules, perseus etc.

same world, different gameplay, different RESUMES, God of War is a Sony Megatitle like Zelda is a Nintendo Megatitle....Kid Icarus is on the level of Spyro or Heavenly Sword. Its not a big dawg like God of War.

I'm sure Pitt will murder his family on accident and then seek revenge on the gods and then end up becoming a god himself. How did I not see that coming, farnham?

Zelda is iconic, not as iconic as Mario mind you, but a lot more people know Zelda than know Kratos.
