is this a serious question? MS will be around for a long time...

Not in your wildest dreams will they leave:roll:
DeadMan1290
And that's exactly it. It's nothing more than dreams and wishful thinking for Xbox to drop from the market. It took a great deal of market share away from Sony this generation, and those fans are bitter about it.
Of course this goes around on all sides. You see the threads of people wishing Wii and PS3 would just go away, and they come up with absurd rationalizations why they will "inevitably" fail and collapse. It's stupid to think any of these consoles will just vanish simply because fanboys of all factions don't like them.
TC here even went as far as to fabricate X360 being in 3rd place world wide, when it's common knowledge that it's 2nd with PS3 being 7-8M units behind. Desparation of the highest order
Fortunately the market and reality itself is in no way influenced by fanboy wishful thinking :)
[QUOTE="NYrockinlegend"]If MAC had a console in the gaming business, yes. ArcticWolf77
While you may wish for that, its not likely
Do not be suprised if Apple jumps in. Althought I dont' think they should, there are signs they will. Watch would adjustments they make for Apple TV in the coming months and years......and microsofts makes the most money of there PCS,which the MAC is overunning...sagax03lol Not even close. And no, they're doing fine. Why would they quit?
M$ will not quit the console business. They are just beginning to take the bull by the horns. Also, their development platform (which allows almost simultaneous development for Windows games) is too powerful for them not to create a console so it can run on. Right now they are making a good profit on the Xbox and its games, they will attempt to go for the knockout punch next round. If the console industry wasn't an industry they were interested in, they would have quit last round. Its actually more feasible for Sony to quit the console business than M$.
And i've got to start reading all the post before i reply. SpruceCaboose said the same thing i did in the next to last sentence. Argg.
Listen the 360 is solid but it really has few good exclusives alsots selling the least worldwide and in every country except for the U.S which it is in 2nd and sony just a bit behind.I few microsft as something wierd, i think theyll have 2 more consoles than just die and microsofts makes the most money of there PCS,which the MAC is overunning. So guys what do you think?(Forgot to mention,Microsoft has only 2 franises as well, the halo and gears of war franchise)

1. MS has sold rougly double of the amount of PS3s in america
2. PC market share 90%+, Mac well you can figure that one out for yourself.
To be honest I am not sure if MS will go away from consoles for a very long time... They really are a lumbering behemoth who has no problem matching Sony in most aspects.
And besides it is about a year ago that MS came out of the red in the console costs, so they must have a decent income from it now. Not Nintendo good, but its good enough to stay in the market...
Besides MS has a huge advantage it seems... atleast over Sony... the PS3 has no choise but to last the 10 years as Sony said it would. MS has made no such commitment, and since thier in the green now, they cfan calmly make the next console in the Xbox line... and lets be honest, if MS does that, the PS3 will be hurting alot more then it is now, since a new Xbox will be a whole lot more powerful and capable.
Nintendo will also release another console before that I think, thier plan paid off, and they are free to make whatever they wish on the console market.
All this is more or less speculation, but it seems logical enough. I am more worried about Sony to be honest :( I really like thier consoles, and the PS3 is finally picking up the pace, but it may find itself the only one left of "this" generation when everyone else moved onto the next.
They're turning a profit. I don't think you even need a basic understanding of economics to figure out what that entails.
Verge_6
We're on a forum that over 2 years ago was convinced that a console costing $200 more than the competition would outsell it in no more than 4 months. Understanding of economics isn't to be found here :P
Why does everyone say the 360 is last worldwide? In sales maybe, but it gets enough sales from the US to be in 2nd place.
And no, the 360 will not be microsoft's last console nor will the ps3/wii be sony and nintendo's last console.
Althought Microsoft is making a profit with each $299 and $399 console sold, I'm not so sure they are out of the red. They still have the $1 billion RROD and other hardware issues that took a big chunk of profits. They will be milking the 360 for at least several more years. I don't expect any new consoles from any of the big three till at least 2011 at the earliest. 2011 for nintendo becuase of their 5 year cycle. 2012 for Sony, since that will be their 6 year cycle.DumbDubya
Sony wants their console to last 10 years which I think they could.

7-8 million behind X360 is hardly a virtual tie.

i agree. i use Macs and PCs where i work, and although Mac definitely satisfies a certain market, they are not even close to worldwide PC usage.Lol. Mac overruning PC's. That's hilarious. Last checked, Windows had 95% of the market on lock.
As for the console ... MS is making tons of profit, from the xbox360. And Xbox live prints money.
