I stopped playing Silent Hill after the 3rd which I really enjoyed. The last game made was headed by an American company so I guess it's up to them to decide if they want to make another. I'm more excited to see what the project siren team has next. I just finished New Translation and it is now my new fav amoung survival horror.

Silent Hill Homecoming was true to its roots by remaining original and adding in some slight additions in the gameplay that still kept the game just as good as the previous ones. It also had a good story. I don't see whats wrong with it.

FF4 just came out in Japan and I think so did a new Silent Hill. I don't keep up with Silent Hill so I could be wrong, but I also think there is one heading to the PSP.

Didn't Nintendo buy the rights to the Final Frame games also?

Wiki says

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

In January 2008, it was revealed that Nintendo will play a role in the game's development, with directing shared between Shibata Makoto, who has previously been involved in the direction of the Fatal Frame series and Goichi Suda, commonly known as Suda 51, from Grasshopper Manufacture. Although the game appears to be a joint effort between Tecmo, Grasshopper and Nintendo, the game was published by Nintendo. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

There was alot of buzz regarding Nintendo buying the property. But no-one came out and explained if they only bought this entry or the rights to the series. Either way Nintendo played a big role in this one

Homecoming was legit.

What did you have against it?

The story was great, the music was beautiful, the visual design was mostly excellent, and the core mechanics were well done. The pacing sometimes faltered, the puzzles were mostly weak (though, to be fair, they weren't a big focus), and it was far too easy on the default difficulty setting, but overall it was an exceptional game and a good, self-supported entry in the Silent Hill series.

Big fan of both series. Homecoming was the bomb. I wish it was a little longer with more puzzles. Fatal Frame going to nintendo kinda ticks me off. The Wii will not do it any justice I think.

Survival horror is really not as huge as it once was. So, don't be surprise if the new ones don't come out for the next few more years

Silent Hill died with III (despite the fact that I like 4), Fatal Frame was stale after 1.

I'm a little miffed that the Fatal Frame series has gone to the Wii. The fact that FFIV is still Japan exclusive half a year after it's release tells me that Ninty has no idea what to do with the series. Why should they care about a mature horror series when Wii Play and Wii Music sell so many more copies . I'm sure there'll be another Silent Hill at some point in the future. I've heard something about Konami trying to get the original team back together because they weren't happy with how Homecoming turned out, but I'm not sure how true that is.

Reggie says wait to see how will it does in Europe before they even think of bringing it to North America so everybody in Europe that has a Wii should buy Fatal Frame IV because I want that game.

Oh yes it did. It had the same kind of interperative enemies and storyline as all the other games. It just focused on an unconventional neurosis; Patomaphobia. Maybe not as compelling as agoraphobia or nosocomephobia, but still a neurosis.

He said that about Disaster Day of Crisis (which rocks by the way). Fatal Frame will eventually hit the US, i'm shure.

Homecoming had the same kinds of themes and ideas that the previous games had but, I don't know, it just didn't feel the same. It felt like a different game taking place in the same world. There's a world of difference in how it feels to play the original games and how it feels to play Homecoming.

It feels different because the actual theme was different. The method in which they were trying to relate you to the character was completely different. But, for all intents and purposes, everything that defined Silent Hill was in the game.
