Do you think this is what next gen consoles will produce? Or will they surpass these pictures? Keep in mind, people with mid range PCs DO play at these settings and no, it's not laggy :P

so i need to mod games just to take advantage of my systems power? High end pc is going pretty much no where these days.
[QUOTE="funsohng"]I hope some day, we get a month where someone doesn't make these GTA4 mod thread.NanoMan88
But thread upon thread of minor differences between a 360 and ps3 multiplatform is okay?
Never said I would tolerate those. But seriously, these looked cool before. Now, it's like spamming Crysis pics and saying "PC is BETTER!!!!11111!!!". At least the PS3 vs. 360 comparison threads are based on different games. If they are not... I don't know what the hell the mods are doing not locking them. But you know. They are mods.I next gen will probably look a little bit better than that, but I have a feeling that next gen will focus more on getting all games to run at 1080p with 120FPS. Graphical advancements will probably take backseat to performance enhancements next gen.
120fps? No, plain and simpleI next gen will probably look a little bit better than that, but I have a feeling that next gen will focus more on getting all games to run at 1080p with 120FPS. Graphical advancements will probably take backseat to performance enhancements next gen.

If we can get 60 to become the new 30 and 120 to become the new 60, I'll be satisfied.
Meh, I prefer spooky metro pictures.

Metro 2033 is freaking awesome. I need some Last Light soon.
And this is what I want more of next gen. Graphics this gen have looked awesome, but a lot of the really great looking games don't have a good atmosphere.

I know what you mean. I went outside the other day, the graphics were probably the best I've seen. But, I found the gameplay really bad.So would you buy the best looking games on consoles (UC2, C2, KZ3) or would you buy Haze or Halo 3?so i need to mod games just to take advantage of my systems power? High end pc is going pretty much no where these days.

GTAIV on PC is the most poorly optimized piece of trash I have ever seen. If you add all the mods it looks brilliant, but still runs like crap unless you're using very powerful dual cards. Add to that it has NO ANTI-ALIASING, and it can only be achieved through a pretty average mod which effectively doubling your resolution then compressing the image, crippling the framerate and only achieving 2x AA. I'm sorry but GTAIV on PC is a joke, jaggies are everywhere.gamebreakerz__TBH, it's supersampling. 2x SSAA is equivalent to all the MSAA in the world when you have textures like wire fences and lines everywhere. To be fair, most PC gamers don't understand why it doesn't have AA, and just hate on the game. Its because its using a fully deffered render, which in 2008 had limitations that had not been solved, meaning AA couldn't be used. And actually, the game runs fine on even a 5770 and a high end dual core. Can I ask what settings you run it at and at what fps?
One can only hope so...I next gen will probably look a little bit better than that, but I have a feeling that next gen will focus more on getting all games to run at 1080p with 120FPS. Graphical advancements will probably take backseat to performance enhancements next gen.

yeah im sure next gen consoles will be better than that
but PC's of course will still be tons better
PC will be close to photorealistic late next gen due to ray tracing, John Carmack has talked about it, next gen PC hardware could do it, but we may not see any games use it thanks to consoles holding PC back, Blizzard or Valve will be the only ones that could do it, Valve may, i doubt Blizzard will

For one GTA IV (the last i heard) dose not support Multi GPU Setups. 2nd like the guy below me said a high end CPU and a Decent GPU is all you need to play this game. For me im using an E8400 and a ATI 4870 (512MB LOL sucks i know) when i have the GPU set at its standard clocks i usually get between 40-60FPS depending on where im at in the game. and online i get even more FPS (without all the AI) so saying you need some sort of powerful system to run this game and that the PC version is a joke is wrong. also i play at 1440x900 and i never see any jagged edges. perhaps its because your on a laptop?

Looks amazing, but GTA4 is still the last game I'd bring up in a graphics discussion, on consoles it looks like crap and on PC it runs like crap, take your pick.ManicAceFor near photorealism minus the pedestrians, I'd say crap performance is expected.
Why would anyone want 120 FPS? Hell 60 FPS is already extremely smooth. Add in some Crysis motion blur and you've got the smoothest game aroundocstew
Not to mention the adoption rates on TVs that take 120hz input signals are extremely low (even if advertised as 120Hz), so there isn't much of a point in sacrificing anything to reach that goal on consoles since for most people the extra frames will be wasted. Reaching the goal of 60fps however, is highly desirable.

Consoles try and fix that by putting horrible blur everywhere, which you can enable in the PC version, but it looks terrible. That is my biggest complaint about GTAIV. I wouldn't be bothered by the poor optimisation if the game actually looked like it was using hardware to the max.
The game looks really horrible on PC, and not at all like the pics you posted. What mod is that?Mystery_WriterIt's not PC, the game looks horrible on all platforms.
[QUOTE="dontshackzmii"]Sounds like you're just not playing the right games. Only a handful of games so far that take advantage of my PC specs. I'm with don on this one.so i need to mod games just to take advantage of my systems power? High end pc is going pretty much no where these days.
