Obviously. System will launch fine, numbers will taper off, analysts will start postulating that Nintendo is about to go third party making games for iOS soon, investors will be after Iwata's head, cows and lemmings will be crowing sweet, sweet victory, then in roughly a year, Nintendo will turn it around, and everybody will be stunned into silence. Barring the Wii, this has been the pattern with all recent Nintendo launches (GBA, DS, 3DS).

There were legitamate reasons for both.

the 3DS wasn't selling as well (as Nintendo had hoped but it was still selling well) and there really wasn't anything good for the System for awhile (until June when Zelda came out and the eSHop a whopping 3 months after the System Launched), and back then the Vita looked very promising, But then Nintendo Straightened out and said "Enough is Enough!" and dropped the Price and then some games came out and the 3DS started really selling with Hot titles like Mario Kart and Mario Land and even Monster Hunter.

Meanwhile the Vita didn't have such a hot start in Japan because well, Monster Hunter, and I'm not sure if Japan exactly likes the line up of the Vita, But I'm sure once some games start coming out the Vita will do much better (and the fact that it's not released outside of Japan is also a factor.)

and of course the asking price is a lot I mean for the same price as a Vita you can get a PS3 and some games (or just the PS3 you know.) meanwhile the Price of the 3DS gets you a DSiXL.

I have a gut feeling the Wii U is going to do well right off the bat. In Iwata we trust.

Oh, you're one of those games that started two generations ago? Yeah, nothing to see here.

Nintendo makes profit on everything they sell so I predict if it does bad, people will say its doomed, but in Nintendo's case, unlike Sony, it won't be true as it never is in Nintendo's case. They even made truckloads of money through the Gamecube generation. Not to mention the 3DS is a goldmine that will see them through along with the huge bankroll they already have.

Depends.

If it turns out to be only somewhat equal, but slightly more powerful than the HD twins, then core gamers won't jump ship to the Wii-U at launch.

If the price is higher than $300, casuals who bought a Wii to play shovelware (Wii sports/all that crap) won't jump ship to the Wii-U at launch.

If the tablet controller is optional, the Wii-U turns out to be a lot more powerful than the HD twins and there's at least 5 AAA launch titles, the Wii-U will print money.

That's a good thing. That means when I kick my kid out of the family room TV, the gaming doesn't stop. It continues on the controller like a handheld.

I don't think so Nintendo has learn from the failure of the GC and the success of the Wii that to have a system be successful it needs more than just games it needs a gimmick.

I think the Wii U has that down. The tablet idea is actually very interesting.

Something I read somewhere was saying something like...
Casuals most likely are not going to buy the Wii:U again due to costs and pricing of it and also, already having the Wii feel no reason to buy the same.

Every console release has a risk.
But one thing is for certain, NextBox will topple the Wii:U with New and Better Tech.

Not my words. It's turned from system wars to casual wars.

But everyone knows and can tell that the NextBox will already be better on Spec, than the Wii:U.

If you think everyones going to ditch, their 'PC, PS3, Wii, 360...etc', for the Wii:U, think again.

Again, you'll be wrong. The next PS and Xbox won't be nearly as big of a power jump as everyone seems to think, they'll be conservative, and I'm sure all three systems will be in the same ballpark next gen.

They might have trouble getting ppl who are content with their current consoles to buy a new console at launch, and the same casual market they went after with the Wii may not work this time around. They are far from doomed however. I do like that they are trying to reach out to the hardcore crowd and their controller looks interesting. The price at launch may not be favorable to consumers but I'm sure they'll find a way to cut costs and build momentum for the console along the way.

The system will launch much closer to holiday with launch window titles that include New SMB Mii, Wii Sports 3 and F-Zero, Pikmin 3 for the core. You be the judge.

Doomed? They're already dead, they died a long time ago when they couldn't find a way to build a machine more successful than the Virtual Boy. What you're seeing now is a corpse which seeps gimmickery, rainbows and happiness... :D

People didn't think the wii would do well with the motion controls and all. Look at it now. Everyone i know has wii. I really that nine the tablet integration is genius. I'm very interested to see what Nintendo and third party developers plan to do with that.

we can't say until we understand what the price and hardware will be. For now I'll say that the touch screen controller is a great idea. It gives the console an x factor in that it will give parents a way for their kids to start using tablets, and the console will be cheaper than a tablet I would think
