There's a whole list.

But seeing how you can barely read as is, I won't waste my time hoping you comprehend anything.

LazySloth718

A whole list of nothing like 2 games were actualy advertised and pushed by MS, there were literally no kinect focus in 2012. You have no list.

Mass Effect 3 "better with Kinect"

Skyrim "better with Kinect"

Forza Horizon "Kinect"

Madden NFL 13 "Kinect"

Need for Speed : Most Wanted "Kinect"

Halo Waypoint "now better with Kinect"

Upcoming :

Splinter Cell Blacklist "Kinect"

Deadspace 3 "Kinect"

"better with kinect"

Dear god, Kinect was the worst thing I've ever experienced. Waste of $ .

I'ed say the chances are 50/50. Just like the next Xbox and the WiiU. It all depends on the price, quality of the games, and developer support. If all three are reasonably balanced, all will flourish.

Just for the sake of balance.

1. You're not forced to use it

2. It creates a wider community for Xbox users, for example wives and girlfriends using dance games, kids using Kinectimals, makes it more of a "family everything box" with wide appeal, ESPN3, Verizon channels etc.

My only real complaint about Xbox is no new exclusive IP's.

And even the exclusive thing is pretty much moot because it has such a huge library of multiplats that you don't even have time to play everything.

Xbox mainly loses the "Gamespot metagame" but wins in real life among normal people.

[QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]

as long as they learned you don't release a console then not have a decient library on it for the following 3 years it will do better than the ps3 did.

Midnightshade29

3 years? PS3 came out in Holiday 2006 in the states and 2007 spring in Europe...so it was really like 2007...
Uncharted 1, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm and Pacific rift, , Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3,, Ninja Gaiden sigma and sigma 2, LBP, Resistance 1 and 2, Ratchet and clank TOD, GTA4, MGS4, Bioshock. Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, AC, AC2, Killzone 2, all came out from 2007-2009 3 years (yes i put in some multiplats in that list but I was listing good games that came out for the system.

I bought my ps3 in 2008, it was $400, and after playing heavenly sword at gamestop kiosk it really caught my eye. Being a pc only gamer during gen 6, it was the first console bought since buying the PS1 back in 97'. When 2 AAAA games came out back to back MGS4, and GTA4 and GTA wasn't announced for the PC... well I had to have it. And I was glad i did. It has remained my goto Console of choice. A device to complement my other top platforms, pc and psp at the time.

If Sony keeps releasing the great games, and more quirky JP games and jrpgs come over to the system then it will remain a core gamers paradise, and maybe attempt to be as phenomenal as my coveted console of all time the ps1.

If you bought it in 06 you would have had to wait 2 years for the first decent exclusive. I remember mine collecting dust before and after MGS4. It wasn't till 09 with games like Killzone, Infamous, U2, GOW 3 and Heavy Rain that PS3 was finally worth owning. Especially since MS went casual around that time. That shouldn't happen this gen since most of their 1st parties have been working on next gen for 2 years.

It will be balls to the wall for Sony. They know that the success of the PS4 will mean a lot to the company financially. I think they will make the right choices and be number 1 again. PS4 - 130 million sales 720 - 55 million WiiU - 50 million

Results (why the above makes PS4 likely to be better)

===================================

Architecture likely to be competent (because Sony didn't design it)

LazySloth718

CELL's SPU was based on PowerPC's Altivec/VMX IP. CELL is IBM's attempt on heterogeneous computing.

AMD's "Fusion" (later renamed to Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA)) is AMD's attempt on heterogeneous computing.

AMD's "SPU" would be based on AMD's Radeon HD GCN (Graphics Core Next) designs.

Sony fanboys can be pretty loyal to Sony (even if they release a console for $600 with no games) so they will be loyal no matter what. Eventually it's going to bite them in the a$$. I don't consider Sony fans to be the best consumers, kinda like Apple fans. Last gen I was a PS2 owner, then I switched to the 360, now I don't know what I'm going to get. Waiting for price, games and hardware details. I really think Sony lost its vision when it comes to gaming. I don't think they'll learn anything from last gen, I think it's only going to get worse for them but who knows.

How have they lost their vision? The PS3 was pretty much a continuation of the PS1 and PS2. They are the only company who haven't changed audience. Nintendo went casual and are now stuck in no mans land as the casual aren't wowed by a traditional controller with a tablet and the core don't want another Wii. Microsoft started a new direction towards the end and now have zero exclusives lined up because they put everyone on Kinect duty, so the only thing left for 720 is Halo. Sony stuck with what they know best and the PS4 will continue that trend, and with some better decision could easily match the PS1/2 success.

Sony will most certainly not repeat the fatal mistake it did with PS3, the Cell Processor...Just look at how many crappy multiplatform ports PS3 got due to it's programming difficulty. Only Sony's internal Studios were able to deliver games that truly matched PS3's power Sony already has the upper hand in exclusives, but it woud be even better if they decided to revive some old PS/PS2 classics like Crash Bandicoot. Also they could really make an effort to support and boost Vita by introducing some kind of cross connectivity between the two platforms. If for example every PS4 title supported remote play, I would buy a Vita instantly

Why not? The WiiU is not taking off at all like the Wii did. Sony isn't giving away a massive lead this time around. People might say they are hyped for a new MS console, but who is actually going to line up and be a guinea pig after the last complete hardware launch blunder? I'm not saying that you should expect it. That would be silly. I wouldn't rule it out, though. Let's see what they have to offer.

1) PS2 Had a 1 Year Head Start 2) Was advertised as a cheap DVD player. 3) GTA, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Solid were all exclusives. The only reason I'm even considering getting a 720 over a PS4 is because Destiny 1 may be an exclusive.

Doubt it. Sony's first party games aren't as strong sales wise and making games is too expensive for third party to make exclusive games for one console. Ghost120x
People always state crap like this, and it's always proved wrong. The Gran Turismo series is a huge seller. I think GT5 is around 10 million? God of War 3 sold around 5 million. LBP sold like 4 to 5 million and LBP2 sold about the same. The Uncharted series sells about as much as the Gears series. They've got their other franchises like Killzone, Infamous etc that sell a few million with each game. Many of PS3's first party games sell. Pretty much the only exclusive series MS has that sells better than the best Sony have to offer is Halo, and even then GT sales are comparable.

PS3 sucked compared to 360 in the beginning.

But after around 2008, PS3 started getting better and better and now towards the end of the gen?

Even the most hardcore Xbox loyalist should realize when they're being teabagged.

PS3 fat = $599 + $0 = $599

360 original = $399 + $50*8 years = $799

That's not counting RROD, scratched up disks and 8 years of Halo Gears Gears Halo Halo Gears Forza Halo Gears Forza Halo Kinect Kinect Kinect Kinect.

And that's why you don't buy a platform day 1.

Day 1 they're all lovey dovey, bringing you tea and massaging your feet.

By the 8th year, they're raping your mother on the kitchen table and charging you extra for it.

You KNOW they gonna do the same thing next gen right? Right???

They don't seem to know what consumers want. They thought people would buy the PS3 no matter the price...they were wrong. They thought blu Ray was going to be a necessity...they were wrong. They didn't think online gaming was that important...they were wrong. They thought the cell architecture was going to be an advantage for them...they were wrong. They thought gamers wanted a virtual world to play in (home)...they were wrong. They didn't think trophies/achievements were important...they were wrong. They didn't think backwards compatibility was important...they were wrong. They thought 3d gamingwasthe next big thing...they were wrong. They thought copying Nintendo's wiimote was going to help them they were wrong.

I really can't think of much that Sony actually did right this gen except release a lot of exclusives...which they had no choice because they were missing out on tons of multiplats because of the cell. The PS1 and PS2 were affordable consoles that had the biggest game library. THE PS3 WAS OPPOSITE OF THAT.

Now if you look at the PSP and Vita...THEY ARE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES. They have lost sight of what consumers want and they are suffering for it. I really can't see that changing anytime soon.

Yet the PS3 is still the last place console with the smallest gaming library and biggest price tag. Sony is raping consumers worse than Apple and the fans are loving it.

Given PS3 launched a year later and at a silly price and still managed to catch up to Xbox360 I think Sony will be all set to do very well this coming gen.Can they lure people away from XboLive though is another matter. It should'nt be difficult if PSN stays free but people love paying for that XboxLive....I don't get it to be honest LOL.

I agree with the TC.

Steam + PS4 will be the gamers way. But you know what, am sure 720 will be worth having too.

Except nintendo has a proven track record with their handhelds while sony doesn't have that same reputation yet. Also while the vita technically is $250, if you count their proprietary memory cards that price skyrockets. Hell any SD card works on the 3ds (to an extent) if im not mistaken. And 3D without glasses was kind of cool, it was overpriced by nintendo appropriately gave it a $75 price cut. Sony still hasn't budged yet.

[QUOTE="TheDidact"]Don't expect a PS2 like success again. Ever. Shewgenja

I have to admit I never even thought about that.  Of course this also makes me think about the early horrible design of the PS3 and the day the old PS3s turned off , YLOD, hacks, etc.  I had honestly been saving up for a PS4 assuming the price would be less than 1k and this just gets me to thinking I should just get myself a new GPU for my PC.

If rumors about xbox to have more expensive hardware sold by subscription is true they might regionaly limit themslefs, which means PS4 can have the chance on worldwide sales.

How would a $99 dollar machine with contract limit them?

Because parents arent going to sign a contract for a video game console.

If they gonna deal with it in same way as they did with Live they gonna defently limit themselfs territorially. Here in Poland we didnt have Live Gold.. until Kinect come out. Without it thanks for MS buitiful logic of subscribing something that could be as well as free (look on Games for Windows Live which runs on same servers) if you buy Xbox you could not play multiplayer at all, you could not even download anything, only play offline or cheat system that you are from UK or something. I think thats major reason why PS3 hold quite good in Europe and PS3 is still a lot more popular then 360 in my country. So if they do same BS but this time with whole console then it won't look good.
