I think in the near future tablets and smartphones will be able to hook up to your tv, and you'll be able to play games from them that way.

If the market did shift, they'd likely focus on higher-priced software (i.e. not the $1-$10 games). Heck, i'm sure you can find some games priced higher than $10 on smartphones.

Indeed. TBH, I don't see any major advantages in a shift from consoles to smartphones.
Unless the big gun's like samsung/apple roll out phones with buttton's ala Xperia play i cant see it happening i hate playing more *core* games esp shooters without them.
I doubt it. I think there will always be a market for dedicated video game systems, just like how there'll probably always be a market for physical books.
It may get a lot smaller, but I think it'll always be there.
