So far, Sony is the only company which does not update thier controller every gen. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have been updating thier controllers every gen, mostly improving ergenomics, Microsoft now has I think made the most comfortable controller, just infront of the GC pad last gen.

However, with motion controls comming to the forground, and Sony attempting to create it's own wiimote/nunchuck, do you think they might embrace motion controls next gen and make these controllers standard? If so, it'll be the first real controller change for Sony... ever.

The PS Move will probably be Sony's standard controller for the future unless it bombs. That doesn't mean DualShock 3s won't continue to be sold, though, as a sort of "Classic Controller".

I like the controllers the way they are. I don't understand the love for that ridiculous "staggered" feel. Both my hands are the same, one thumb is not higher than the other. I don't freaking get it. Yes, the 360 controller works fine, but I don't find a problem with the Dualshock either. In fact, I prefer it. I tend to use my other thumb to control the opposite stick sometimes (just for split seconds) and it's REALLY hard to do that with the 360 controller. I hope Sony keeps the same design. (or at least, the same basic design, but concave triggers plz) I got used to it, and it feels natural now.

Only thing I'd want to change is to add their own triggers rather than the paddles. I bought the Real Triggers to go over them and they work great yet it'd be nice to have triggers like on the Xbox controller. Otherwise, I love the Dualshock design.

everything but the triggers are fine. They should ask the dudes who made the triggers they sell at best buy(forgot the name of them) to make it for the PS4. Besides that the controller is perfect the way it is.

The controller just needs better handles. The ones on the DS3, (and every other version) has grips that are too small.

I agree loads. The ergonomics on the palm of your hand need to change. Triggers need to be more accessible instead of having a stupid trigger design where my fingers keep slipping off (DAMN YOU SONY!).

They shouldn'tchange and have motion next gen! It wouldn't beright. Sony and Microsoft are for thehardcore gamer which added games and features for families. Nintendo are the family console.

THEY SHOULDN'T CHANGE!

I just think by now it shows a lack of imagination.

Its like if Nintendo stayed with the SNES controller and just kept adding stuff to it and all we would be using now is the [Wii] classic controller and nothing else. How boring does that sound.

You are probably used to it. Well, it´s not a bad controller by any means and i loved it when i got my PS1 and even my PS2. I just think 360 controller is far more ergonomic (still the Dpad doesnt come close to DS and Nintendo ones).

Why change something that's pretty much perfect?

I know people are throwing out the ergonomic design line like there's no tomorrow, but I'd just like to point out that 360's controller actually pinches down on your middle fingers. Ergonomic or not, but I've never heard anyone get cramps from using a DS3. If it's too small for some people then at least that's something I can believe.

Removeable battery packs is the only improvement I'd want, but definitely not at the expense of making it yet another accessory gamers have to purchase.

Yes I would like to see an update, but please stick with the layout i have come to love.

not really, but I would like to see a better 3rd party controller if I want to play a shooter (I guess I could say the same thing for xbox but I don't really use the d-pad to move a character cause all my games use the analog stick)

The triggers are...Just not that amazing :? My fingers have actually slipped off a few times. Found it on Best Buy. Did you buys yours in stores, or is this only online?

Tried to link, but it GlitchSpot wouldn't let me.

That gets me thinking. I wouldn't mind that Microsoft and Sony go the Wii remote route and having something that separates your hands. I love the design personally. I don't know how other people feel about it though.

Dualshock is a good controller overally. There are some little things to tweak but as a whole its good so no need fo drastic changes.

i think a lot of this is subjective to a point. There is a lot of people claiming the 360 controller is the best out there, for me it's easily the worst for comfort and efficiency. It's the only controller that gives me hand cramps, the triggers are slow and appear to be there just to pretend it's like a trigger on a gun, the analogue sticks are not symetrical and are clunky for precise aiming, the d-pad is clunky and innacurate, RB and LB are positioned awkwardly to get your finger on. Some of these are subjective but I also contend that some are fact like the slow triggers and the innacurate analogue sticks. People have their gripes with the ps controller, I like it and have done since the ps1 so I won't go into the problems with it because everyone else has covered that. One I'm trying to highlight is that not just sony need to think about improving on their controller.

yep, I have those too. It really does make a difference.

I think the next PS controller will be the move, or that one that seperates into two pieces. Either way, I'm certain both MS and Sony will go the motion control route for next gen.

Minor changes would be good.

I personally don't have a problem with the two analog sticks where they are. However they could be a big further apart and the controller could feel a bit more natural in my hand.

aren't they going with Move? or is that another Sega CD sorta like Kinect?

anyways i think they should just make it more ergonomic, i would prefer if they did the stagger analog stick placement because that's better for racing games and any game that needs both of your thumbs on the sticks at the same time, but it won't complain if they don't do that
