Devs are being lazy for Wii as well as Playstation 3 though. All this means is that they're on the bench at the moment. The thing to motivate them is hardware sales, I am afraid.

PS3 has to sell more for developers to invest time and money.

so to make the third party games on par with 360 won't sell more.

This is just like your last thread, no Link. Get one or else your case is nothing.

But in order to do that, Playstation 3 needs to be the market leader.

I'm not even so sure that the PS3 selling more will help. Developers simply don't want to take the time, nor spend the money necessary to learn how to properly use the cell. Developers are not "lazy", they are just victims of such tight timelines that spending time trying to learn the hardware is often time they don't have.

I think this could help Sony a lot because developers and publishers are then outsourcing that learning process to SOny. Developers learn to use the hardware properly and it is on Sony's dime.

The problem with games is that the console industry is really circular in nature. Just like the chicken and the egg, which comes first? Sales or games? Sometimes a console needs sales before it can attract developers (ie. Wii). Other times a console doesn't have the sales but developers still flock to it and the games result in future sales (ie. Xbox).

You say "lazy" developers, but developers have a lot of money riding on making launch dates. Marketing, production...etc. The first thing people need to realize, is the PS3 has specialized hardware that creates new challenges for programmers and engineers who are accustomed to working on more conventional systems. This generally translates into longer development time to work out any bugs. From a business stand point, not every developer is that obsessed with quality issues where they will delay a game until its perfect. Sony is the real problem for making a system that is fundamentally different than anything else out there. Its a catch 22.

why in the world does sony say that they are lazy?! they're the ones who are lazy. they just threw together the program to help developers make games. the program they gave is a piece of crap. that's why it takes devs so long to make games and why they can't keep an exclusive. sony should have made this when it first came out.
