Will Spore silence the "PC is dead/dying" crowd?

PC has taken a beating left and right from a number of people in the industry and console fanboys, but if Spore succeeds beyond expectations, will that finally silence the naysayers that say that PC gaming is dead or dying?

I believe it can since everything Will Wright touches turns into gold (The Sims, SimCity) and Spore is likely to receive a lot of attention in the media and among gamers.

As long as people are making PC games, there must be some profitable market in it, so I don't see how anyone can say PC gaming is dead...but! For the arguement of this thread the sales data will have to determine wether Spore was a smash hit or a bust.

I am personally waiting for Spore to come out so I can play if forever and ever....

Well the Creature Creator has entered the top 50 sellers of amazon.com, so that's promising.

Starcraft 2 is a sequal to a game that has sold 10 million and become a national sport.

Spore is the succesor to a franchise that sells 70 million anually.

try out the demo and see....but I am pretty confident that if you can run BFme 2, you can run spore.....

but either way, memory is really cheap right now.

not just that but Spore has ALREADY got national news attention. I believe they were talking about it on the Today show after it was announced.

EA knows that Spore will could be even bigger than The Sims, and they are just giving Will Wright the room to make his masterpiece.

As far as system wars goes though, I think you can get away saying that one game saves a system. Well, a console at least.

the PC does have the most AAAE and AAE, so it wouldn't be a case of just one game.

I predict that hardware sales for midrange hardware will go through the roof before and after the release date.

yeah. Starcraft 2 has fantastic graphics. Very sharp, clean look. I think it will get a graphics merit or two because it looks great and is very efficient.

Infact, I bet the South Korean sales match Halo 3, forget the rest of the world... The fact that they filled and OLYMPIC STADIUM, and then had another 100,000 people watching outside on monitors for the announcement... That speaks for itself. There are TV stations dedicated to broadcasting Starcraft in South Korea. I would say it is safe to assume certain things about its sales on South Korea.

people can go ahead and have a PC, but they may not be into PC gaming or even own one capable of doing so. hence why people include the word "gaming" when they say "PC gaming is/isn't dying/dead"
