Do you think the public will do what they did last gen and ignore Nintendo because they don't have the latest GTA?
Will this...

...be able to compete with this...

What do you think?

Super Smash Bros. doesn't have the publicity that GTA does. GTA will sell more consoles. Question is, why should they have to compete? They're two totally different games.nyoroism
Well said. I personally think both games provide equally flawed gameplay (although in dramatically different ways). That being said, why are we forcing these games to compete? They're targeted at completely different audiences.
No. SSBB is not the system seller that GTA and Halo are.rykazielIs not a system seller? Then you're over exaggerating on the halo part................

I LOVE violent videogames.....
but I played the GTA that was supposed to be amazing on PS2.....and the game was so stupid......it was like a BAD "TRUE CRIMES"........guarenteed Brawl will sell more copies
I think it will. Nearly 1/2 of all Gamecube owners owned melee. This game is getting far more hype, and the Wii is on pace to pass the Gamecube in sales as early as next year. With the positive media attention the Wii is getting and the addition of online play, I would be willing to bet that this game outsells every game this generations with the exception of Pokemon. If melee was sold that well on a last place console, I can't help but wonder what it does on Wii.SmashBrosLegendObjection!SSBB only sold 6.5 million which is like a 3/7 ratio
The American gaming market is really dumb (no offense) since they see a game where you can beat up hookers or shoot the same aliens with two guns at the same time now and say "Hey, I think violence is great!" Now, SSBB is a beat-em-up game, but it is so much less violent than the other two. It's more arcade like and will probably advance the series with more features, more characters, online, new ways to play, new modes, etc. No, it won't be able to compete as well cause America likes to beat up hookers and shoot up aliens and their trash-talking friends. The rest of the world, well, I don't know what they like to play...
Sarcasm On: Nice excessive generalization. I would consider accusing the Japanese of idoly worshipping marketing icons who shove cutesy -- pointless -- forms of linear gameplay down there throats, but, thankfully, I realize that such a generalization would be somewhat rude and inaccurate.
Just as many younger gamers drool at the sight of their favorite marketing icons pointlessly bashing in each others heads during a giant all-out marketing spree. Both games are terrible for different reasons; keep this in mind.

It's best if you read what someone says well instead of scanning it... Then again, that's what the internet society has promoted with all those LOL type crap....

Were you really being sarcastic? Or were you just disagreeing? Anyway, you have to face it, the gaming industry is shoving down gamer's throats more depictions of reality (GTA is like being a crim-type dude in down town cities) and violence when there's still games that are simple, fun, and ORIGINAL. People say GTA created the sandbox gameplay idea when The Legend of Zelda started it in 1986 (I think). That's what I was meaning, games like GTA and Halo are franchises that I see that simply give us the same gameplay and different circumstances. That is an opinion so don't flip out and get all nerdy on me or something...The American gaming market is really dumb (no offense) since they see a game where you can beat up hookers or shoot the same aliens with two guns at the same time now and say "Hey, I think violence is great!" Well yeah GTA is on two systems so SSBB will obviously slow down first. This isn't really a fair comparison when you think about it.
Well when you put it that way then you just ended your own thread :P
