EA has acquired the Star Wars license, despite how in vogue it is to bash EA I'm certain they'll make some worthwhile games with the license.
If anybody is worth bashing over the Star Wars license it's Free Radical for raiding the Battlefronts III development funds to finish Haze instead and when that bombed they didn't have money to finish Battlefronts III, and despite claims they were nearly done the game was likely nowhere near being done, and even if they could have rushed a "finished" product out it was bound to suck anyways.
Free Radical contested that claim by an anonymous LucasArts employee. I get a strong impression that the source who smeared Free Radical was just not in the loop on the most important information. My biggest reason for siding with Free Radical instead of LucasArts is that LucasArts was awful last gen. It wasn't just Battlefront that suffered. There was that limp Bioware MMO as well. Those Force Unleashed games were a waste of time. It all reeks of a company with poor priorities. Free Radical also claims that Ubisoft covered all of the extra coin for Haze btw, but of course LucasArts wouldn't be aware of that.
Free Radical admitted that they were equally responsible for Battlefront's demise. They didn't have a good grasp on the tech to make a 7th generation game. LucasArts had a change in management, a group that had far less patience than the group before, and it just seems like they wanted to make games like Force Unleashed
