Will Sunset Overdrive see a sequel? Despite sales

I'm trying to find information on the game sales but I haven;t heard anything about it selling even a million copies. I wonder will MS still consider a sequel viable to fund a second game I really thought the game had potential to be better with a improved sequel. Unless the studio decides to make the next game a multi plat since they owned the rights to it. Maybe during the holiday season it can pick up more sales.

I think it is such a cool and unique game I honestly wouldn't want a sequel, it's hard to explain but that is how I feel. I guess part of it is repetitive(it didn't bother me), so a sequel would have do things very differently to feel fresh.

Regardless of the sales it's a great game and not everything needs a sequel, you need to remember that.

I'm just glad I got to grab this before someone else did, already got the Tomb Raider and Halo 5 one's being held for me.

It's strange MS let them keep the rights to the ip but it's X1 exclusive

I suppose Sunset Overdrive 2 could be on anything even PS exclusive if Sony funded the game

I'd love to see a sequel, exclusive or not be damned. Just find someone willing to publish it is all. Insomniac owns the IP I believe, as was a condition I believe in negotiating the original game. So, if they can get another publisher to sign on to financing it and publishing it then we might see another. But, maybe MS might make an exception. Seems I haven't seen anything indicating that Insomniac and MS had issues. Plus, I'm sure Phil talked about not supporting third parties has exceptions. And they probably don't include buying out games that would have gone multiplatform. On the other hand, if a third party comes to them wanting to make a game to their benefit and MS doesn't have to break the bank to earn favoritism then I don't see why they wouldn't play along.

Insomniac is working on the next Ratchet & Clank, and thankfully not more Resistance; maybe then we can see if they'll make a sequel. I think everyone here is just being haters because it's on the Xbox One, but I feel they'd have a big change of heart if the game ever graced the PS4 and PC.

As much as I personally don't like your attitudes, but I'll agree with you on this one. I played Sunset Overdrive Trail version awhile back, I couldn't get into it. The Humor turn me off big time, I thought it would be similar to Second Son but damn I was wrong. I'm sorry but I don't wanna see a sequel, a new IP is good enough right there.

Sunset Overdrive is very unique and the multiplayer aspects gets overlooked. It's a very fun game with lots of customizations and fun multiplayer. I think it's the type of game that you really need to level up and unlock more things to start really enjoying it. I wouldn't mind a sequel but it's really up to Insomniac, they seem to always want to do more than getting stuck at one thing. That's why they were so happy and said Sunset Overdrive is the game they always wanted to make and finally MS gave them the opportunity.

MS is interested in a sequel , if you made the survey to find out , but the sales problems are because of the release date.

Close to MCC and AC and Mordor.

It's s very good game, but I don't know that a sequel is required. I'm not against it, and I'd probably buy it, but the uniqueness of the game is part of its charm. No need to try to recreate it.

If you like this crap game you have very low standards.

Good thing I play the trail version to see if it was worth it. The humor was fucking horrible. Plain and simple.

With how bad it sold, they probably should to try to minimize their loses because a simple port would cost them almost nothing.

Bad idea it need to be a proper pc port because if it turns out sloppy people can easily request a refund

I doubt it, but I suppose anything is possible. I personally adored the game, but it was so unique and cool, I'd be worried that a sequel would ruin the novelty of it for me.

That's what I keep saying about The Order 1886. I'd take a Ryse or Sunset Overdrive sequel over that game.

Of course you would. The order has an amazing setting, great cast and great engine. All they need to do is completely revamp their linear tps formula and it may become an amazing game. The other two garbage games you mentioned, though... oh man those games

That necessity for attention is a magical thing about it. While playing it, I always thought of Sunset as a "gamer's game" in the truest sense. Basically, I saw it as a modern, three dimensional take on the old 8/16 bit platformers, lack of casualness and all.

Might be funny this time around then.

@finalstar2007: I hated SSOD myself but it wouldn't shock me if the sequel went multiplat at all, since Insomniac owns the IP they can do whatever they want.

I rather have Insomniac working on something new, highly creative, like they did for SSOD. They've got such a great team, and the story didn't really really matter, so it would be more fun to see them do something new.
