Will the 360 Ever Have a Console Graphics King?

games on the 360 are always hyped as console graphics king especially before release and never live up to that hype, from Splinter Cell Conviction to Halo Reach and of course the most notable Alan Wake. of course there will be many more unreleased 360 games being hyped as console graphics king and the cycle will continue with Uncharted 2 being the best looking game on consoles until it's dethroned by another PS3 exclusive

Gears may have been a contender but I know Killzone 3 will be the standard for a while.

As good as Gears 3 looks it definitely won't pan out to graphical expectations, plus there is a history of this. Remember when Alan Wake was supposed to be te 360 graphics king to rival U2?

MGS4 won best graphics of 2008, and Uncharted 2.Killzone 2 are still the best looking console games right now so...

There were some PC games that looked just as good and ran at higher resolutions.

I still remember seeing Gears 1 and just thinking wow. Still some incredible looking parts in 2. Denizens especially (i think?)Ravensmash

Gears of War on the PC looks great too. Much better than Gears 2 on the 360.

Probably not, but does it matter? I like my 360 as much as my PS3, but I play my PS3 more because of it's Free Online and it's great exclusive lineup. Graphics aren't everything and I assume I'm lame because I still play 8-bit Metriod with it's lame graphics.

I think Gears 3 is looking mighty fine.

I wouldn't be so sure. You have some quite good looking PS3 exclusives.

Currently 360 and PS3 are tied since multiplats like RDR and the new Castlevania already look as good as anything exclusive. KZ3, Gears3 and Rage seem to look even better ;)

The gaming industry and game develpers disagree and so do reviewrs.

The only reason why the term is being challenged now is because lemmings rubbed in the term so hard long when they believed PS3 couldn't challenge 360 in power in 2006-2007 (before uncharted 1 released) that they are in damage control mode now that nothing on the xbox360 can touch the best looking games on PS3 in graphics now (by industry, develpers, reviewers, and professioanl game journalists decree not fanboys). There's really nothing more to it.

There's why there is an influx of psudo-hermets that all seem to UNSUPPRISINGLY be xbox360 fanboys to boot trying to say PC everything in graphics all of a sudden. most of them don't even own gaming PC's period, much less high end ones.

it had it in 06 and 08. It has a very small chance with gears 3 but IDK. Maybe if T10 could get PGR5 out and at 30FPS it'd look twice as good as forza 3 which already looks stunning still doubtful until Firebird interactive gets a game out (even then its just a maybe.)mayceV

Even for 07 the answer would be NO.

06 was the only year and ironically 06 was the first year PS3 released...xbox360 had already been out on the market a year before Gears released (people seem to forget that), in that same time for PS3 Uncharted 1 was released and from there on out xbox360 never saw that title again.

Actually it was quality of games, ya know AAAEs? and the PS2 had games with amazing graphics as well. There's nothing like shadow of colosis on xbox and FFXII takes wet dumps on KOTOR in graphics as well.

Funny thing is that the lemmings acted like graphics were everything last gen maybe that's why I see xbox fans in such damage control over Sony's console taking that title as well.

When people use the term "console graphics king," they are not fighting for second place. They are simply talking about the the best looking game on a console, and despite what many PC fanboys may say, many console games do actually look very nice.
