Will the increase in FTP PC games make PC gaming more popular?

Will the increase in FTP games this generation, and the popularity of the games, increase the overall popularity of PC gaming?

Which FTP games are we talking about? I'm sure FaceBook games will continue to be popular, but I don't know about games like FireFall.

And LoL I think is around 20 million players isn't it?

Ummm... yes... How would they not. They are free and their quality is starting to get up there with AAA titles. Games like Firfall, Blacklight: Retribution, Tribes: Ascend, and many others not even counting the free to play RPGs and RTSs. Many run on older hardware very well and they are again... free... How will they not be popular?

Consolites are hilarious, they actually think their cosoles can compete with PC, they actually think consoles are better and more popular... Dudes, wake up. Consoles are nothing more then locked down PC's for kids. I own and play consoles, they have some fun games, but get a grip, you guys need a serious reality check.

No, them being more fun, not having M+K lag, having better graphics, having more people playing the few hardcore games instead of Farmville all day, being more mainstream, having better GPUs and CPUs, having gamepads from the start, and being able to connect easily to my TV will make them more popular.

Monthly subsriptions are what hurt PC gaming the most. F2P is only temporary until people can no longer be competitive without spending money. Average consumer will feel like its a Bait and Switch.

Play Tribes Ascend. I play it on low settings because I can only play at a constant 60fps(anything lower just bugs the crap out of me), but if put at full settings the game looks beautiful. And, it's a Free to Play game.
