it probably will have Blu-Ray but im not getting my hopes up becasue the M$ wants DD to be the normwdave92
If that the case, than Microsoft better get a move on. Sony is already doing it. The newest full retail game to hit the PSN for DD is Head Coach. That 5 PSN game to Microsoft 0.
I dont think that I'll ever be a Fan of DD of full retail games. Movies are one thing, but game, IMO, are pointless.
[QUOTE="jharv"]Well I was going to pick up a PS3 mainly for Blu-ray but the prices are still alittle high. But I already own a 360 and just thinking about waiting for the next XBOX to come out and pick up if it has blu-ray.ReaperV7
i...really....hate it when people say that.......
I hate it too. Like thats all they are going to use it for. You and I both know that's a lie and a half.
personally, i predict within the next 5-10 years, discs for games will be replaced by just direct downloads straight to the hard drive. i mean just look at how popular steam is. KGB32
Do you realize that puts the storage problem on the User? What size do you think Next Gen games are going to be, what size HDD's are they going to give us? No way.
[QUOTE="dream431ca"]You: Thank god it has a built in Blu-ray player! I won't need to buy an add-on to that.
MS: Oh but to get BD-Live capability you must buy our BD-Live add-on for $80! A real bargain!!
You: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Sony doesn't force you to buy anything but the console which already has wi-fi and online play ready. Unlike the 360 where you have to to pay to even get wi-fi.

But you dont have to add it if you dont need it. Thats why you can get Xbox 360 and play all games for like 200$
No need for blueray- dont buy it,while SONY FORCES YOU TO BUY IT

Sony doesn't force you to buy anything. The Blu-ray player is included with the system, which is much better than having to buy an addon. Including something with the hardware is not forcing anyone. That's like saying, I bought a new car and they FORCED me to buy a steering wheel!
M$ forced me to have DVDROM in my 360!
WHY!?
EDIT : I just checked, THERE'S UNWANTED BUTTONS ON MY 360 CONTROLLERS!
WHY!?
WWWWWWHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!?
lol great post. i agee with you.I really hate that red and yellow button (Gladly replace them with a Blue Skittle and a GIJoe SnakeEyes head). Also, he's right, I have a steering wheel forced on my car. This epidemic is getting out of hand, lol.

Don't you wish MS "FORCED" you to buy a wireless network adapter
Don't you also wish MS "FORCED" you to buy a rechargable battery for the controller?
Don't you wish MS "FORCED" you to buy a wireless controller?
Sure. That's a dream world where the new cows, called lemmings for some reason this gen don't see it.
And what's will all three companies FORCING me to buy a TV or Display unit to play them on? Also, FORCING me to get electricity turned on at my house.
What's with all the force-age?

LOL!!! That made laugh quite a bit
Saying Sony forced something, and looking the other way for everthing else is crazy talk. I wanted to buy some beans for chilidogs, but I was FORECED to get a TIN CAN with it.
I think digital download will be the way that things go, after all it gives greater control over the game media to the companies i.e. no resales. Two major problems tho that mean not only are we not there yet but also a fair way from it being storage at the user end and user download speeds.
In terms of storage to hold a game library and full hd movies your talking multiple terabytes which isn't cheap or with current technology small in terms of the physical size of those drives.
Next you have the download speed, superfast broadband isn't universal which can already mean slow downloads on services like steam for many users. If you then consider the widespread downloading of large volumes of data to multiple homes that too further compounds the issue, an example we have already seen with the adoption of 3g phones strangling mobile network bandwidths. Then you have to consider the in home speed issues, already even with a wireless-n system home wifi isn't at the point where it can handle hd content and other traffic moving around the home and now you want to add more traffic as massive game downloads on top.
Personally i think were maybe still another 1 or 2 generations of consoles (if there even still with us) away from being at the stage where we could even consider a fully digital console and have widespread digial downloads
If it has HDdvds then it will fail epicly it has to up grade and blu-ray is thereLastRedMageACTUALLY it might be a smart move much like gamecube discs If microsoft were to use hddvd which is dead and unavailable to consumers now they could theoretically cut out most piracy...I mean look at the gamecube it was inanely hard to pirate on that thing.
As per the topic...I think they will Microsoft said they would look into it if bluray became a run away hit.
Honestly, I think its very very very possible that we will have the next Xbox go digital. I never thought I would say that until I started buying games off Steam. Understandably, downloading a 3 gig game off Steam is quite different than downloading a 15gig game. However, within 2-3 years, who knows? Although I would say its more probable that Microsoft will use some new type of DVD format and also make their games available to be downloaded as well. scoobiesnackarf

[QUOTE="ash10692"]By the time the next Xbox comes out, chances are Blu-Ray will be the accepted medium of watching films and playing games (like DVD is now), and a new one will be coming out.goodgunda
Agree.
i guess you haven't noticed that blu ray sales are diminishing as people are switching to netflix and DD?it probably will have Blu-Ray but im not getting my hopes up becasue the M$ wants DD to be the normwdave92Man I love when people have bought into MS' hype about DD. First off, PSN CRUSHES xbl when it comes to DD. Ever download 10GB+ over XBL? Look at LBP and the millions of levels created that have been uploaded and downloaded to millions of users (for free, BTW). Also, PS+ offers cloud service. Second, unless the average person gets a huge boost in internet speed and unless ISPs stop pushing for bandwidth caps, DD, with even larger games next gen, is not going to cut it, not in a long shot.
I honestly think MS would rather not have bluray, and instead opt for some insanely massive harddrive and push for an all-download type of deal.
MS is doing every thing they can to prevent it. They still didn't get the higher capacity DVD out that hold 12GB or more.
They really don't want to pay the royalty to use the BR tech... Just like the first xbox where they made you buy the licence to play the DVD movies.
They will pretty much screw people over on back wards compat once they get these new discs out. Which makes me think they are gonna do something other then a BR drive. Because if they do BR then what happens to all the games that use the new 360 disk? Unless they cut out BC altogether... Then I will never buy another console from them again after being lied to.
