Will the PS4 and Xbox 720 actually be called PS4 and xbox 720?

i think its kind of cheesy to keep going up by the number, maybe a new name? I suggest Playstation Evolution and Xbox .... hmm tough to think of one for xbox.

i never had an xbox nor really cared too much...but i thought XBOXOMNI would've worked (as in..OMNI = world...sorta...>.>) and PS--..4...PS4, yea XD

If the PS4 and Xbox 720 are named the PS4 and Xbox 720...then yes, I suppose their names would be PS4 and Xbox 720. A startling revelation indeed.

The Ps4 will be the Ps4. It follows the pattern.

If the new xbox system is called the 720, i will find myself a nice sledge hammer and hit it. Dumb name.

As for xbox next generation, I don't know which name will be. Could be anything.

PS4 wouldn't be bad, but Xbox 720 would just be horrible. I am expecting something like "Xbox Home" or something stupid that we will just all have to get used to like the Wii.

1) Xbox 720 was a Code Name for Project Natal the fist ever mention of the Next Xbox was by Epic they just call it Next Gen Xbox

2) PS4 was mention by many Game websites not a official name just the Fact that 4 comes after 3

and XBOX comes from DirectX the original name of Xbox was going to be DirectXbox because Xbox look like a box then Shoten to Xbox thats why Xbox and Xbox360 have Advance DirectX futures from DX10 and DX11

DirectX being in the Hends of Microsoft they always give Xbox Advace DX futures before Retail PC

360 its another name for 3D full Cycle base on Grafic Arts

I think it has been overdone and burnt long ago and is now in the nature of beating a dead horse.

Although I have never heard of anyone beating a dead horse that is just as interesting a thought as this senseless speculation about names for systems that will not be in development for years to come.

PS4 and Xbox^3 (as in cubed) are my guesses. Names like infinity and unlimited sound like a 12 year old made them up on the spot. Out of all the companies, Sega was the best coming up with names like Master, Genesis, Saturn, Game Gear, and Dreamcast.

Why ruin a trend and tradition?

PS4 will likely be the name, get over it. Unlike the competition, at least Sony made it easier for themselves to name their future consoles. And it only makes sense.

Not sure about XBOX or Nintendo.

I highly doubt Microsoft will name their next console XB720, however Sony may call their next console PS4, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I am confused to as why anyone would think the next xbox would be called the 720. Would be a horrible name that holds no marketing power. 720 sounds like some sort of washing mashine spin cycle lol. I would not be overally supprised if it wasnt called xbox anymore. On the playstation 4 side.. i doubt that as well, I would expect sony to have the "reinventing" the gaming experince and for this need a NEW name.. So Sony *something*.

PS4 will be the PS4 no doubt. Why change a formula that has worked for them. I think the Xbox 3 will be called something other than Xbox 720.

It's my understanding that MS didn't call the Xbox 360 Xbox 2 because they didn't want people to confuse it with the PS2 so they came up with 360 because it was supposed to be a complete entertainment experience, just like 360 degrees is a full circle. So I doubt they will go with 720. It really doesn't make sense, 2 full circles?

I'd go with X3 if it was me. The Microsoft X3 gaming system. Sounds like a sleek fighter jet. Sounds better than Xbox 3 any day.

Someone else said that the xbox 720 was a code name for natal but it is a natural name as lots of people use it on this site when describing the next xbox. Saying that it won't be call that.

The first xbox wasn't xbox 180 so their is no reason to assumed it will be call xbox 720. I can see MS call the xbox something like xbox: hardcore or Xbox Gamer. I know they were bad name but something to highlight the fact the next gen console will be for gamers who want the most up to date system. They will do this as they will continue supporting the 360 and Natal for casual gamer and tocompete against Wii HD.

Now Sony thinks their PS3 can do everything so i wouldn't be surprised if they just call the next console PS: PC. Sony will end up calling it PS4.

i here sony's next console will be called the 4 playstation.

PS4, definitelly, Xbox720 definitelly not.

Both consoles will most likely feature native 1080p resolution so, having 720 included in the name would be baaad publicity.

Yes to PS4 and no to Xbox 720.

Nov. 2014 the... Xbox 365... You will use it every day of the year...
