Will the PS4 be able to survive on Microsoft's and Nintendo's scraps?

The next xbox will retain most if not all of it's core users and also get the majority of casuals this time around.

The Wii U will keep the die hards. They will also get many sales from those who buy it as a second system for the excellent first party games.

That leaves the PS4 fighting for leftovers. Also with $ony's poor financial position they just don't have the leverage required to get their product out of third place. I can see this being another failed generation for the PlayStation brand with more major losses to come.

It doesn't seem like $ony are able to catch a much needed break for their failing business. Sad times indeed. RIP.

PS4 will dominate! There is very high demand for it being shown at game retailers. It has amazing power and has all the social features that xlive has and more. Plus Nintendo's Wii U is failing hard &  Xbox doesn't have many exclusives left to keep it's gamers loyal anymore.

I don't know man. I'm not sure fanboyism is a real thing. 

If the PS4 has awesome games and the new Xbox does not, then the PS4 will appeal to those who are more interested in games. 

And of course, vice versa. 

I had a PS2, that didn't automatically push me into a PS3. I assessed the systems on their own merits eg price, games, etc. 

I don't think the PS4 is guranteed to dominate next gen yet.

With Wii-U being a joke right now, the door is wide open for Sony to regain it's dominance with PS4. 

Of course it's also possible that video game console market itself is now dead. (due to economic conditions, tablets, etc).

One thing is for sure, Sony built a very "smart" system that should please game developers and any-and-all core gamers. There is no gimmick to their system. Blu-Ray is an established format - so they are not launching a new format like with PS2 (DVD) and PS3 (blu-ray). No cell. No tablet Controller. No Motion-Sports (at least not as the main selling point, it's merely a secondary feature). So the risk is that it pleases core gamers, but doesn't catch onto the masses as a "fad" - which is basically the only reason the Wii was a sales success.

In all honestly Sony is in the best position to dominate.  PS3 sales recently overtook MS WW sales, The Wii U is struglling and the Xbox seems like it will go more casual.  If anything Nintendo will have the toughest time.

I legit, was gona straight up post this. :shock:

just got off of xbox playing BO2 with about 4 friends. We agreed to look at both the new systems very closely for the games exclusive to each system to determine what to get. Xbox being more focused on kinect with not anything aside from gears or halo that interests us and charges for online being negatives in the now category vs 360 while they (I'm the only one in the group owning a ps3) admit that it does have more exclusives and we could just play multiplats on that instead. The reality is MS is the one in trouble because they need to introduce some damn games aside from those 2 IPS that we care about that are not related to Kinect and are not just timed or exclusive content to a game (which is always most likely just timed) Sure tons of "core" gamers feel the same. Why bother getting something with less or the same that winds up costing us more in the long run? I just don't see it yet. The features in MS's console are unknown and the next xbox can probably do certain things most likely better than the PS4.I MS is not going to forgot about the core gamers most likely.The WiiU main problem is the crappy advertising and the lack of interesting games released for it so far. It is possible that it can still take off if both of those problems are fixed in the future.The advertising problem may be really hard ot fix.

Many gamers like myself have given up on the xbox. Mainly because MS has shown it's quality control is pathetic, we are tired of paying for online and next to NO exlusives and their extreme focus on Kinect.

The real question is how can MS survive with their current strategy against Sony and Nintendo.
