Will the PS4 succeed even if Sony abandoned the core gamer?

I feel like Sony with the PS3 has been true to the core gamer and I am glad for all the exclusive games they have been able to get. While it sucked to lose some exclusive (main FF titles) and timed (GTA), the replaced them with WAY more new IPs than xbox. I honestly dont see how anyone can say that Sony abandonded the core gamer.

I didn't even give a single hint of what platform I play on- and you automatically jump to the conclusion that I'm a "butthurt fanboy". Why would I be butthurt when my PC clearly dominates consoles?

Now that Sony had abandoned the core gamer to go 100% movie, I don't really see a reason to get a PS4 over the superior Xbox 720. The 720 will have everything:

1) Games

2) Better fanbase

3) Would actually change their controller design

4) Will be innovative

5) Won't launch at 699 US dollars

6) Better support on Arcade/indie titles

Those things have made the 360 succeed, but the poor calves keep on making the 'it doesn't count' excuse. Since those things made the 360 the superior console to have, will those things defeat the PS4? Discuss

Umm.......of the 3 major console makers I think its common knowledge that Sony are actually the only ones that DID NOT go chasing the casuals this gen.Yes,they had Move but they didnt really push it that hard unlike M$ who stopped making core games and went Kinect only,and Nintendo....well I don't really understand Nintendo to be honest.Also,PS4 will be a beast.

It seems that to make the most money, this is the route companies will start to go. Which sucks because then the games are complete garbage.

The biggest misnomer in this thread is Sony being hardcore to begin with, so how could they abandon the core gamer if they were never hardcore?

Look at all their games.  Look at every exclusive theyve released this gen and sent out to die with no marketing promotion whatsoever.  Look at the Vita, PSPgo, Xperia, move,  their tablets, their phones, their new Walkmans, etc, hell even the original PSP, the PS3, etc.

But since you bring it up nothing about being a shooter makes a game inherently shallow. If you think that you must have very minimal experience with gaming.

You people can have fun with your Kinectbox 2 while me and almost every other person in the world gets the true next gen gaming experience, the PS4!
