And please dont call the game in the sticky above a FPS.
The wii really needs a AAA killer app online FPs to seal the deal among the hardcore.

Who needs FPS when you have METROID!!!
But I do agree that the one thing the Wii needs to be truly successful is a hardcore FPS. It will bring in the one crowd the Wii doesn't have, the "I'm too macho to play kiddy games like mario" crowd.
Metroid Prime 3 may be an FPA, but it's shooting elements are still better than 99% other console shooters.
Gametrailers say that you will never want to use duel analogue again, and IGN say that it controls better than every previous console shooter. But ignore what I say, just read the reviews.
[QUOTE="dracula_16"]Nope. If you want a good shooter then the Wii is the last place you should look.Shazenab
No that'd be the psp.
I guess you've never heard of Killzone: Liberation.

Neither have you. If you knew anything about that game then you'll know that it's not a shooter. It is an adventure game played in a first person perspective.

Ah no, lock on FTL.

look at the reviews, heck watch the video reviews. Both IGN and gametrailers say that the shooting in corruption kicks dual analogue out the window.

I like to word it like this.
Halo: CE introduced console duel analogue. Metroid Prime 3 renders it obsolete.
This is a small note from an editor at IGN:
"from Mark Bozon
For whatever reason, I was a late bloomer to the Prime series. Being a huge 2D Metroid fan, I never really got into Prime and Echoes until about a year back, after a brief session with Corruption hooked me. It's now a year later, and Corruption proved it not only has what it takes to capture the more shooter-oriented crowd, but also has enough legs to deliver more than 20 of the most entertaining hours of gameplay I've experienced in years. Corruption is a shooter design at times, an adventure at others, but throughout the entire experience it remains the number one reason to own a Wii. The presentation is simply beautiful, the gameplay is more responsive and precise than any console experience to date, and the final product is the best on the system, period. If this really is the final chapter of the Prime saga, Retro went out with one hell of a bang, as Corruption is an absolute must-have on Wii, and the best of the series."

It could be argued that Metriod is an FPS.gingerdivid
The latest game is as much of an FPS as Bioshock. Free Controls make that the case. Metroid Prime was imposible without lock on so it doesnt count, MP3 doesn't even have proper lock on

You could argue that Metriod isn't an FPA becuase it dosen't share too much in common with games like Myst (a point and click game). It could be argued that Metriod is a FPS.gingerdivid
I think Metroid is an FPSAA. A First Person Shooter Adventure Action game. That's what I call it.

I agree, too many shooter elements to call it a FPA.[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"][QUOTE="gingerdivid"]It could be argued that Metriod is a FPS.gingerdivid

I agree, too many shooter elements to call it a FPA.It's like half shooter, half adventure. So I think calling it an FPS is wrong, and so is calling it an FPA.

True. It's a bit of a weird one. It's a shooter/platformer/adventure/puzzle game

And please dont call the game in the sticky above a FPS.
The wii really needs a AAA killer app online FPs to seal the deal among the hardcore.
jessmo30_basic
You don't consider MP3 an FPS? I'm very curious as to how you couldn't call it such a thing? Sure it has other genre influences, but BioShock is an FPS despite it's RPG flavour right? Don't make excuses!

whoever thought of calling Metroid Prime FPA needs to get slapped. adventure games rely more on character development and mindless exploring where as Metroid just gives you new objectives to complete as you make progress in the game like most FPS games
why doesnt everyone just call it a hybrid fps. it sounds a lot more technically correct than FPA or FPS alone.
people seem to forget that MP is really just an FPS hybrid with adventure elements implemented in the gameplay
