Negative. Witcher is too much of a "nerd-centric" video game to have a mass appeal. Normal, fun loving people still outnumber nerds 100 to 1.
Because attempting to have sex with space aliens totally couldn't be considered nerdy.

The Witcher is just like Crysis as in they both were never really all that good but because they were PC exclusives and Hermits are thirsty they were overrated.

Never have been a PC a gamer and i only played The Witcher 2. If your are talking about the first games, then i cannot comment, but I can and will if you mean each series overall. Crysis has not really done much to improve, but TW made a big jump from 1 to 2 and I know it will do the same with 3.
CDProject RED is like Nintendo and Valve. They do not get covered by western press unless they absolutely can't ignore it and nobody with a microphone understands them but they accomplish great things.
No for the lack of coverage alone it won't be half as popular as the Mass Effect series.
The popularity of the series went up exponentially between TW1 and 2, I expect the same will occur between 2 and 3. Hard to know if it will match ME's popularity though.
I own 1 and 2 on pc but I've never played more than 20 minutes of each. I buy their games for the same reason I buy Atlus games: to make sure they keep making them. I like the genre so even if I don't have time to play them I support them. I don't think there is any way it could get as popular as ME unless CD wants to spend a couple mil on advertising.
Who cares if it is as popular...one thing is for sure it will sell more than the other 2 games and will be a massive earner for its Polish developers, production costs are much much lower in Poland so these guys will make a killing.
And they deserve it,i cant wait to see what DLC they will give us free this time! :P

Mass Effect is equally as nerdy, if not more nerdy. It probably has a lot larger cult following; think of Star Trek or Star Wars.
