You should, even if you're not very keen on strategy games, but if you have a modicum of interest in the Halo lore, you should play it. It's a very well made game, with very high production values and really interesting campaign, even for non-RTS gamers...

I'm glad to see Halo Wars get some much needed praise

as for whether or not they'll make one... I doubt it, the first one is the lowest selling game in the series, over a million units, but under 2 million

If they outsourced it to Firaxis and made it on PC + 360, it'd sell a lot better.

It's unlikely they will make a new one. I could see them actually making an RPG out of Halo before they do another RTS game. I'm not holding my breath for it.

There have been rumors of a sequel. I think we might get one sometime after the next xbox launches.

The first Halo Wars was outstanding, I really do hope Halo Wars 2 gets made.

If they make it on the PC as well as on the 360 then it´s viable,as a 360 exclusive like the first one? I doubt it.

Yeah, seems so from what I've heard. I might just get it after I've bought and finished Absolution.

Oh please god no.

Unless they change it to some sort of a 3rd person, squad shooter with strategy elements. RTS games don't work well on the consoles. They are limit too much by the unit selection. It all becomes a massive zerg fest of end-game units.

Halo Wars worked, but proved that the controls rae too limiting to have any real depth in the gameplay. It's sad too, a Halo RTS is a great idea.

yeah Halo Wars is to strategy games

what kart racers are to racing simulators

... but to me, that means Halo Wars is the Mario Kart or the Crash Team racing of RTS games, it's not deep and it's a little unbalanced, but dammit, it's fun :P

Yeah, RTS games either flop or just dont work well on consoles. I'd buy a PC version.

I'd be happy if they just ported the first one to PC with cross platform multiplayer I'd buy the game... again

Lol can I get a hit? Firaxis doesn't need contract work to make an RTS halo.

Wasdie, do yourself a favor and shut the f*ck up before someone who actually played Halo Wars at a fairly high level of play (like me), proves that you have no idea what the f*ck you're talking about.

It's not nearly as competitive as something like StarCraft (and I'll be the first one to admit it, having played both games extensively), but claiming that there was no depth and that every match "becomes a zerg-fest of endgame units" either means that 1. he has no idea what he's talking about or 2. he's bad at the game because it's blatantly not true.

Seems like the more the worse, Halo 4 has the worst metacritic yet, has the lowest Online community 2 weeks post launch (120,000) Compared to Halo 3 which had 300.000 up till 2010

I liked the game. It's a very competent console RTS, probably one of the best examples ever released. But it was definitely restricted, through no fault of Ensemble.

I don't think I'd like another one to be honest. If they had to make a Halo game that explored other genres, I'd rather they venture down different avenues.

No. The game wasn't the financial success that was expected either and Ensemble in classic Microsoft behaviour was pulled apart. The ship sunk itself. Quite frankly it felt like second rate RTS with very nice cutscenes from what I've played. The format didn't suit consoles; instead get someone to port World in Conflict or copy that formula if you want real time gameplay on a console system.

That actually wasn't too bad. More of a real time tactical game though; more in vein of Massive Interactive's stuff, and honestly not nearly as good as their stuff either.

I hope they make another one. I still will never understand why it was not brought out for the PC. Considering Ensamble's background.
