Two thoughts come to mind...
Great games legitimize powerful hardware. Not the other way around...
And...
When has having the most powerful hardware proven to make a difference in the sales war?
good post Because for the last 3 generations at least it's the weaker hardware thats won out in Exclusive games titles and sales, Ps1, Ps2 and Wii and this gen it's the weakest hardware that has the best quality Exclusive just no the most sales.
The fact that the PS4 is selling the most and is the most powerful hardware is not indicative of more power=more sales,it just happens to havethe most sales and happens to be the most powerful console hardware.
I've said it a dozen times before and I'll say it again: Those instances of the less powerful system selling the best were the result of earlier releases, often by a year, sometimes even 2. But when you're both launching in the same month it's gonna be a big plus to be the more powerful machine.
not at all, Ps1 was not the first system in it's generation, the Jaguar and the Saturn released earlier, the only system released After the Ps1 was the N64.
The Ps2 was also not the first system in it's generation, the dreamcast was and the fact that the Ps2 carried on selling and was not discontinued until AFTER the Xbone released would seriously imply that Releasing early was not the only Factor that led to it's success.
They also have another thing in common, regardless of whether they Left the Gate early or not they both had superior games libraries to there competitors.
when you have been gaming as long as i have realize that Games library is the Biggest Draw when it comes to buying a console, the reason the PS4 is selling better than the xbone only a little to do with power it was because SONY marketed there console to gamers, for gamers and they told gamers things they wanted to hear, Microsoft fluffed it by coming out with policies that gamers just plain didn't like.
No Pre-owned games
Always Online DRM
Cannot use console without Kinect
Not a dedicated Gaming system, more of an entertainment hub.
Although MS backtracked and listened to the gamers and changed the message the damage was already done, confusion was already Sown amongst the masses.
Most of the people i know who own either an Xbone or a Ps4 are actually unaware that one is more powerful than the other, it's only people that come to forums like this that really know that kind of shit, Most people just don't care in the real world.
