@Krelian-co: and what reasons are those? The Xbox one has better games and all around is a better multi-media device. By the way how's DLNA on PsBore? Why don't you just admit that the console has been selling on pure hype alone. There is absolutely nothing special about it.

Considering Sony's financial problems I thought MS would release the most powerful console of the three this gen. Imagine my surprise when it turned out around half the power I thought it would be. But looking back I guess I shouldn't be too surprised cuz it was designed under Don Mattrick, the worst head the Xbox division has ever had by a long shot. Xbox One's hardware is the swan song to a guy's career that was so disastrous it seemed like intentional sabotage.

But I hope this isn't the last console generation like so many are speculating. Despite phones and streaming consoles are still selling great, outside of Japan anyway.

I think this will be MS' last console.

Mobile-first cloud-first. That's their priority now.

good post Because for the last 3 generations at least it's the weaker hardware thats won out in Exclusive games titles and sales, Ps1, Ps2 and Wii and this gen it's the weakest hardware that has the best quality Exclusive just no the most sales.

The fact that the PS4 is selling the most and is the most powerful hardware is not indicative of more power=more sales,it just happens to havethe most sales and happens to be the most powerful console hardware.

@delta3074: right.. And i dont mean to minimize the latest gaming trend of making a mountain out of the 1080p 60fps molehill, but one would have to surmise that the added attention to early generation performance, coupled with a cheaper price anD high flying momentum following e3 led to a perfect storm of Sony building an early generation advantage.

Microsoft has also played their part in sabotaging their own endeavors... They gambled on kinect which is still glaringly flawed and undesirable, bloated pricing because of it and ALSO a divided focus which led to a less gamer-centric attention to having the most powerful hardware....

I think for us to even entertain the idea that the ps4 is outselling the xone on the sole idea it's "more powerful" is insanely shortsighted.

Doesn't matter, the principle is the same. America may be lagging behind the rest of the world in terms of internet access but streaming is coming and it will kill the console.

So you're saying we'll have a device that accepts our inputs, transmits it to a remote computer that sends back the results and the device displays the picture and plays the sounds. There's a term for that device. It's called a console. So what you're saying is that soon there will only be consoles and that will kill the consoles.

Did you miss the PSNow's that Sony was putting into Samsung TV's?

That just makes the TV your console. Consoles, consoles everywhere. The real question is what happens to PC's at this point...

predicted another 360 after all they learned from this gen

the next microsoft console will launch early and have some of the best hardware at the time

it will launch at a similar price point of 400 and break even at launch

it will basically just be a ps4 with insanely better hardware no more always online

just spins discs everyday all day bigger hard drive than ps4 better multiplats more grass more graphics

its gonna come down early an beat the ps4 back etc

do u think this'll happen soonish or what?

has microsoft learned its place you want o have the best multiplats you want to have the best graphics

you want to have the best online service not the most expensive and the one thats always down a ton and you want the best and this is not happening this gen xb1 has been down alot ii couldn't single player sometimes it kept logging me down during games

xb1 is a total disaster on the opposite what u should do for gamers its the complete opposite i dunno if microsoft has learned or what but i hope they see now whats going on

XB1 is still selling very well. The only reason why Microsoft released the 360 so early was because the PS2 dominated the 6th generation of consoles.

Nintendo will release their next console at least a year before Microsoft and Sony does.

Of course Nintendo will release earlier, they need it badly; I like Nintendo games, I actually just purchased the new 3DS, hell I even purchased a GameCube last week, but unless I find it dirt cheap will not purchase a WiiU.

I've said it a dozen times before and I'll say it again: Those instances of the less powerful system selling the best were the result of earlier releases, often by a year, sometimes even 2. But when you're both launching in the same month it's gonna be a big plus to be the more powerful machine.

not at all, Ps1 was not the first system in it's generation, the Jaguar and the Saturn released earlier, the only system released After the Ps1 was the N64.

The Ps2 was also not the first system in it's generation, the dreamcast was and the fact that the Ps2 carried on selling and was not discontinued until AFTER the Xbone released would seriously imply that Releasing early was not the only Factor that led to it's success.

They also have another thing in common, regardless of whether they Left the Gate early or not they both had superior games libraries to there competitors.

when you have been gaming as long as i have realize that Games library is the Biggest Draw when it comes to buying a console, the reason the PS4 is selling better than the xbone only a little to do with power it was because SONY marketed there console to gamers, for gamers and they told gamers things they wanted to hear, Microsoft fluffed it by coming out with policies that gamers just plain didn't like.

No Pre-owned games

Always Online DRM

Cannot use console without Kinect

Not a dedicated Gaming system, more of an entertainment hub.

Although MS backtracked and listened to the gamers and changed the message the damage was already done, confusion was already Sown amongst the masses.

Most of the people i know who own either an Xbone or a Ps4 are actually unaware that one is more powerful than the other, it's only people that come to forums like this that really know that kind of shit, Most people just don't care in the real world.

why would you not use the weakest hardware?

weak hardware has always dominated sales charts.

when the ps4 wins this gen it will quite literally be the only time best hardware has ever won.

Can't really understand what the hell you're trying to say once again but..I like my Xbox One. Better exclusives and apps than my PS4, which has caused me to not even turn on my PS4 for months. I thought I was going to finally have a reason to with The Order but we all know how that went so here I am waiting on Uncharted. Also, PSN is down far more frequently than XBL is and is a considerably worse service. Nobody knows when Microsoft will release a new console; not even Microsoft. These consoles have been out for less than a year and a half and Sony planned on the PS4 lasting longer than the PS3. It will be a while before we see new hardware...So once again, as in every gen, all multiplats will be played on my PC and all good console exclusives will be played on my Xbox or Playstation.

I like mine also. Tormentos will be here shortly to tell you how the PS4 has a larger list of games, and they are higher scoring as well. But I, like you don't care because I didn't buy a $400 dollar console for indies and 2D games. What good is Resogun's MC score to me if I don't care to play it?

No you bough it to play Master chief collection which is also on xbox 360 but on WORKING form instead of a broken state like on xbox one.

Or for multiplatforms like Forza Horizon 2, oh wait wait it was for Sunset over drive which didn't even outscore Resogun..lol

As pathetic as the PS4 line up may seem to you,the xbox one has 70+ less games and is even more pathetic,oh for the last time the PS4 also has more retail games than the xbox one bro, enjoy that drought until september if Phantom Dusk doesn't get delay since i heard rumors of the former developer closing..lol

Gaming is a taste thing what you like is not what i like and you like is not what those PS4 owners like,if gamers wanted a weak cable box wanna be console or its games the xbox one would be selling better now, hell not even at $50 cheaper is selling better any more...lol

You're so funny with the MC score thing dude. You only use the GS scores when talking about Ryse or MCC, even though their MC scores are significantly higher; how ever you only use the MC scores for TLOU.........................hmmm that's peculiar.

being weaker than ps4 is not their problem...kinect, price point, bad execs/ pr and lack of first party ips is what is hurting them. They have remedied some of their problems already

and im only responding to topic title since everything ive read from op has been pretty stupid

Good then because the PS4 just receive and exclusive and since you don't care about score that is something,vs the nothingnes on xbox one until september.

That is the point again you are a lemming so yeah you like xbox games and for you the PS4 has non,yet people still buy more the PS4 so they see something you don't that is taste for you.

I can use Gamespot score for TLOU and still shit on MCC score and Ryse to.. hehehe...

@Salt_The_Fries: the fact that PS4 is the most powerful isn't the reason it's selling more. Better marketing and PR after the DRM fiasco is the reason.

I think that's true if it were a system-wide thing. There are some games that don't make it to 900p on PS4 and there are some games that do make it to 1080P on Xbox One. I understand your reasoning. I just think it has a negligible effect.

As others have said it isn't the weakest, and power really doesn't dictate success. The PS2, Wii, DS, 3DS and PS1 were all weaker than the competition yet sold the most units.

The important thing is making sure that they have good press around their next console launch and more importantly a competitive price. If the Xbone released $50 cheaper than the PS4 and they didn't have so much negative press before launch, I think both would be very close right now with the PS4 edging it worldwide. Considering that the Xbone launched/is $50 more and had awful press it is doing really well right now.

The power difference isn't an issue for the Xbone at all, nobody outside of system war like sites care about pixel counting websites. The Xbone is competitive enough with the PS4 so that it will receive every third party game the PS4 will get and it will play the same (Texture detail and resolution may suffer on Xbone, but you will get the same experience).

It may be their last time making a console at all. At the very least I think they learned from this gen that packing it expensive pointless gimmicks does nothing but raise the price and lower your market share (both WiiU and XB1 have shown this). Although, I'm still absolutely shocked at the complete incompetence MS showed when starting this gen. I had dismissed all the pre-announcement rumors as click bait drivel and then MS comes out and confirms the vast majority of them and I was floored at the stupidity on display. So, who knows.

@ProtossX: they have never used the weakest hardware .Xbox. Was leaps and bounds stronger then ps2 .so much I couldn't stand to play my ps2. After I got a Xbox . 360 ran games better then ps3 .

Xbox one can do stuff ps4 can't like add pretty much anything people want with a update .also it's stonger graphic wise then Wii u and 360 was stronger then Wii .

Xbox has never been the weakest console of its gen. The original Xbox was actually the most powerful, far beyond Dreamcast and PS2, and more powerful than even the GameCube; the Xbox 360 was pretty neck and neck with the PS3, which only beats it in theoretical power, and in any case, it was more powerful than the Wii. The Xbox One is admittedly demonstrably weaker than the PS4, but it is still far more powerful than the Wii U.

I think all consoles will continue doing a terribel hardware all profit approach unless someone goes crazy. In 5=6 years from now games could be run 5x better, and I'm sure the expense for a significant jump will be HUGE.

Also Xbox has never had the weakest hardware.

all you have to do is look at games like skyrim, fallout, and even mass effect to see the PS3 struggled running large games. a big part was the fact only 256MB of RAM was available to games. The PS3 was (marginally) weaker then the 360. all the MPs showed it. The exclusives were pretty close. but hey even with the PS4 more powerful, even a hardcore cow can't say anything definitely looks better then ryse.

Actually the PS3 didn't have conventional RAM and the Devs had a bus that connected all 512MB of RAM. The 256MB of XDR RAM ran at 3.2Gz and the other 256MB of GDDR3 ran at 700MHz and both were accessible to devs, so games weren't limited to 256MB of RAM, but accessing the other 256MB RAM was more difficult than it should have been for publishers slapping their games across PS360. Looking back, a lot of devs didn't bother. It wasn't financially viable.

Publishers/Devs should not have had to make custom engines that took advantage of funky PS3 hardware and many didn't which is why there was an issue with games designed on other machines and placed on PS3 as an afterthought. This is why PS3 exclusives, designed ground up with custom engines to use the PS3's 512MB of RAM looked so great by comparison (MGS4, GOW3, Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, etc).

One thing is for sure, it was incredibly easier for developers on 360 due to it's use of a unified memory structure of the 512MB of RAM with no tricks needed.

2 out of 3 times they had the most power. 1 out of 3 times they were 2nd. 0 out of 3 they were the weakest.

PS3 owned the 360 pretty hard at the end of that gen. No way they had the most power 2 out of 3 times

all you have to do is look at games like skyrim, fallout, and even mass effect to see the PS3 struggled running large games. a big part was the fact only 256MB of RAM was available to games.

One thing is for sure, it was incredibly easier for developers on 360 due to it's use of a unified memory structure of the 512MB of RAM with no tricks needed.

the 360 also had EDRAM, but yes it was much easier to dev for. not so much because of the RAM, but because of the Cell.

Yes, the RAM architecture wasn't the only hurdle with PS3 development, the Cell as you noted was powerful but problematic to exploit.

The tech was good in the cell, it just was too foreign for people to waste resources learning how to get the most out of it. The hardware itself was good, but sony's decision in using it was poor.

Yep, I completely agree.
