Currently working on the hype thread for the game and had a thought. What do you guys think? Another cinematic walking button-masher or does this look like it has potential? From what I've seen based on other people's reactions, I think it's likely to turn out to be a good game. One paradigm I've noticed is that you can always tell how a game will turn out based on what people praise about the game prior to its release. The Order was praised on its graphics and facial animations and details, but no one ever addressed its story or characters that much, neither was its gameplay really discussed. But, for Until Dawn, people are actually discussing the characters and story and fear factor than they are the amazing graphics...so...I think this just might fall between AA and AAA. What do you guys think?

I'm gonna do a @SolidTy here and just say their games have Metacritic average of 57/100.

I've stated the same in the past about SuperMassive and it's true. I follow devs and this is one title that I am sketchy on due to their track record.

Best of luck to them, but not really interested in what they got cookin'...unless it's a surprise breakout title which is unlikely.

If it was so good, why so little faith from Sony and they haven't even shown it during main E3 presentation (although it was playable for press, right?) ??? You or me have every right to be skeptical about it. From those B-movie game teen slashers, I kind of liked Obscure for what it was, albeit it had co-op, so it was a different kind of a game...But this cinematic style is not my cup of tea. It got stale after Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy).

It's definitely weird Sony didn't show this at E3 considering it's out soon. Maybe it's coming out on other platforms so Sony didn't want to push it? Are we sure this is PS4 proper exclusive not just another timed effort?

To answer your question: No, this is an IP owned by Sony only for the PS4. Originally, it was only for the PS3, so it's not going to be another timed effort but it does have last gen roots. Sony is also the publisher.

The idea of repeated 9 hour playthroughs seems a bit daunting. Hopefully it's set up in a meaningful way

If they do it in a similar way to 999 and allow the user to fast forward bits they've played before, then that will be good. Though that may not work well with a non-text based game.

I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic, heavy rain style slasher horror could be awesome, but it's equally likely that it winds up being awful

In terms of difficultly and design it will be, remember Playstation gamers have an incredibly low level of gaming skill, even lower than Wii casuals and they need games that prioritize presentation over mechanics. They need games like Order 1886, Until Dawn and Uncharted that are linear and based more on QTE and scripted events because interesting mechanics and challenge will hurt their poor little brains D:

A Horror version of Heavy Rain sounds fantastic. I would hype it 7 maybe an 8.

Anyone else still shocked Beyond Two Souls scored a 9 at gamespot?

Most idiotic comment on here in a long time and trust me.... that takes some doing.

9 may have been a bit high. Worth an 8 at least for me though, I really liked it. Not quite as good as Heavy Rain, but close.
