If studios like DICE and Infinity Ward; whose resources are vast - are having problems with Xbox One, what will the mean for smaller time developers. And the future for the Xbox One to reach 1080p.

We know parity with the PlayStation 4 is impossible that's not what I'm asking.

When even 1st Party Developers and exclusives who've had extensive knowledge on the Xbox One can't reach 1080p who can?

  • Dead Rising 3
  • Ryse
  • Killer Instinct

All not even close to 1080p resolution.

In order for lemmings to enjoy 1080p. Microsoft will have to sacrifice effects and physics in a game if they want to showcase 1080p. Look at Forz 5, look at what they had to sacrifice inorder to make it run on 1080p + 60 FPS. With Xbone, Greatness doesn't away for lemmings.

Sure, they can get any game to run in 1080p, it's just the amount of content that can be included to achieve it.

Turn 10 as a dev make great racing games. Every single one sells millions. They always look, play, and engage the online communites. Forza 5 runs at 1080p, 60fps and looks great. Drive Club looks like multiple gif files Cows post as it isn't ready for launch or even this year. Its a prime example that 1080p isn't indicative of a great gaming experience as we've seen the resolution, but only now do we have footage of even more than one car onscreen. That's six months after the game was announced.

Greatness Awaits... so just know you have to as well :)

The damage control is just too hilarious here.

Just accept that Xbone isn't even worthy of the name "next-gen". It's a complete and utter failure.

It keeps bringing the lols though. It's beautiful how lemmings are on constant damage control.

Good entertainment.

If it can't even manage Call of Duty Ghosts in 1080p there is literally no chance for them to be able to display later generational higher GPU intensive games at 1080p. They may have the occasional fighter, racer, or RPG that will allow for 1080p

I'm fine with waiting to play the superior racer with weather and night time. Oh man, I'm going moo just thinking about drive club.

In the mean time, I'll just finish the AAA Beyond Two Souls game & the AA game Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, both which are exclusive the GodStation 3. After I'm finish those, I'll focus my attention on COD:Ghost 1080p and Killzone: shadow Fall 1080p+60FPS. Greatness doesn't awaits for us cows, it Continues...

As many devs have stated, Microsoft has been behind in programming their drivers for their ram and GPU. They will improve over time. Given the spec differences, they will most likely never achieve parity with PS4, but they will improve for sure. And if Microsoft has shown one thing, they are willing to respond to feedback. If people demand 1080p parity across platforms, they will probably deliver it at the expense of other game settings like AA, lighting etc.. Personally, I'd rather play a 60fps 720p game with all the bells and whistles than a 1080p game with effects dialed down. If the PS4 offers all the effects, 1080p and 60fps and the Xbox One cuts some of those, then of course a console-only core gamer would choose the PS4 at this point. But I wouldn't count Microsoft out... like the PS3, I predict they will evolve over time.

Superior racer? Time will tell, but I ain't betting on DC winning that one, lo,. As for the PS3 lineup its very good, no argument there. Killzone.... less said the better. You are welcome to that game. Cod will be fine on my Xbox One, alongside Ryse and Dead Rising 3. :)

Weak looking titles such as CoD Ghost 2 for example i think yes but you will never get a title such as TW3 or BF5 to run in 1080p so adjust your eyes to 720p for the next 8-10 years rofl

I don't think so.

If a game is 1080p on PS4 it will be less on Xbone.

If a game is the same resolution then it will look worse on the Xbone.

Xbone is not next gen.

Here are FACTS... Ooooh scary stuff for lems :

The Xbox GPU + RAM config simply will not be able to run games at 1080P 60FPS WHILE maintaining all the effects that its competitor has.

So the issue is not that it CAN'T do 1080P.. Hell PS3 can do 1080P. The issue is what do you sacrifice ?

IW actually did the Xbone a favor by staying at 720P/60FPS, had they pushed harder to get 1080P it would probably look like a PS2 game.

Except the PS3 had the cell. Xbox1 and PS4 are basically the same architecture.. so if you believe X1 will evolve, then so will PS4. In other words, the gap will not close.

No. 32mb's of eDRAM is not enough for 1080p graphics with the level of detail expected out of a next gen console, and the particular eSRAM MS chose is gimped. Wii U's eDRAM is better, funnily enough.

Since Cod is running at 720p, I don't know how you could expect 1080p games.

1080p requires 2 times more hardware to run than 720p

60fps requires 2 times more hardware than 30fps

so 1080p 60fps needs 4x the hardware for 720p 30fps

if a game run on 720p 30fps on x360

it cant even run on 1080p 60fps on X1 because X1's GPU is not 4 times faster than X360 gpu

look at forza 1080p 60fps, its almost the game game of forza 720p 60fps on x360

imagine a game like BF3 or crysis on X1, it would have to look worse than x360 version to reach 1080p 60fps

Xbox One is the Wii of this gen, faster than gamecube and PS2, much slower than ps3 x360

For what you are arguing to be true, the PS4 drivers would also have to be not quite ready for prime time... something no dev has stated.

The PC equivalent of the xbox GPU: HD 7770, simply cannot hit 60fps in 1080p in most modern games. It is right around 30 frames at 1080p, and will approaches 60 frames as either the settings are toned down (to medium or less) and or the resolution is notched down (to 720). Games on the consoles will obviously improve in textures and assets as the gen goes on, but the Xbox One simply does not have the juice to push 1920x1080 pixels in these hq games. That is not going to change over time. Any PC gamer knows the power requirement in going from 720p to 1080p is massive

It's .9 million pixels versus 2.1 million.. Xbox One basically has to choose between 720p60fps or 1080p 30fps on most games

For the record, PS4 equivalent (7850/7870) is right around 60fps in most games at 1080p.. It falls right in line with what we are seeing in games.. Again games will improve with visuals but this resolution/frame rate combo you will get for the entire gen, unless the visuals are sacrificed

LOL drivers aren't ready.. Cloud isn't on.. excuses, excuses. Devs always run into little difficulties, hell GG said they ran into some making KZ:SF. The hardware is what it is.. Laptop parts not Cell. They will both be optimized as the gen goes on. Leaving the gap unchanged.

X1 cannot do 1080P/60FPS without downgrading severely. Even at 720P/60FPS it will still be missing effects

There is a problem.

The PS4 will also advance as time move on,in fact the PS4 architecture is heavily modified to use compute something that people are saying will pay off 2 or 3 years from now or latter,so the more time passes the PS4 will also improve over what your seeing now,so i don't spec the gap to get smaller,i actually think it will get larger.

Not feeling the need to pour cold water on every piece of video game news is a side effect of embracing gaming as a whole I suppose.

Well, that's why it's so exciting to get a console at launch... it's fun to watch them grow throughout the years. It will be interesting to see what happens with both units over time. Personally, I like to be optimistic.

Except the PS3 had the cell. Xbox1 and PS4 are basically the same architecture.. so if you believe X1 will evolve, then so will PS4. In other words, the gap will not close.

For what you are arguing to be true, the PS4 drivers would also have to be not quite ready for prime time... something no dev has stated.

Not feeling the need to pour cold water on every piece of video game news is a side effect of embracing gaming as a whole I suppose.

I embrace gaming as a whole hence, PS4. Not kinect or Wii-U

Any honest gamer should go PS4 or PC or both.

Yes, all the cap surrounding the CoD 720p craze is due to a late change in the X1. They had less time to optimize it. The future will bring a bountiful 1080p library.

Battlefield 4 isn't 1080p on the PS4. If Dice can't get a last gen port to 1080p on the PS4, then I would assume most games on that platform will not be 1080p, either. I don't think there has ever been a generation where the graphical leap from the previous gen was so underwhelming across the board.

BF4 isn't a last gen game is hitting hard even PC dude..

And the xbox one is even worse 720p with missing effects tons of jaggies and still runs slower.

Later down the road, I don't see either the PS4 or X1 running multiplats in 1080p.

@shawn30: like I told aaron greenberg, 900p is acceptable. 720p is not even if the xbo scaler is top notch. Pixels per inch are pixels per inch.. I think 1080p will become more common later in thr gen for xbo. Might be a death sentence too. I think 900p and keep the moneytrain coming for exclusives

Extensive knowledge? LOL!! They just received the final Devkits the beginning of Sept. They haven't even begun to understand the new tech yet. You cows are trying way, way too hard. We'll start seeing some real knowledge of the hardward next year at the E3.

Sure, they can get any game to run in 1080p, it's just the amount of content that can be included to achieve it.

That's just the beginning. Turn 10 probably has had the most time with the hardware then anyone else.

No. 720p is clearly the optimal resolution for the xbone. This won't magically change. Just like the ps4 won't magically run games at 1440p later on in the gen. Part of optimization is figuring out what the optimal resolution is to get the most out of the console. For the xbone it's 720p for the ps4 it's 900p most likely.
