the 3DS ends up having more quality games? Will the Vita's superior hardware be enough to make it overall the better platform?

No of course not, I don't even consider the Vita a better handheld than the 3DS now.

it's a wannabe console being sold as a handheld, that's why it fails.

depends on how many more quality games, and in whose eyes they are quality. Right now the Vita and 3DS have an equal amount of quality titles to me

I buy hardware to enjoy software

Therefore, if the 3DS had a better game library, the chances are pretty high I'd consider it a better handheld than the PS Vita

Quality in games is subjective so, I'm sure there will always be people who consider the PS Vita line-up better just as people will consider the 3DS line-up better. It's too early to tell anything though. These handhelds will be around for at least 5 or so years.

Hmm, well believe it or not I actually preferred the PSP library over the DS library slightly. So even then I considered PSP and DS similar last gen. However, if it ends up anything like PS2 and GC/XBOX then I won't consider the Vita better at all.

Regardless, right now I'm pretty happy to be an owner of both the 3DS and the Vita. As someone said in an earlier thread, The librarys complement each other very very well so far.

Vita needs a redesign and a price drop. No way I couls see myself using those much hyped analog sticks. They're way too small, the placement interferes with dpad down and the X button, the throw is way too limited, and if Uncharted is anything to go by precise movements are quite difficult. In addition, the shoulder buttons feel mushy and unresponsive and the system as a whole is way too big to be considered portable. Vita has a very nice launch window library but the controls on the unit are terrible. I can't believe more people aren't mentioning how awful the analog sticks are. Much worse than the circle pad.

PSP can get "ports" a lot of Nintendo's best first party games lol. Super Mario 64 especially plays good on the PSP.

Oh we're counting emulation as part of a system's library? Besides that's not a DS original to begin with.

god of war did, but I see no Vice City Sstories or Liberty City stories on ps3. And yes DS has more games, but not more games I would consider quality. My point is it is very subjective. I found the PSP and DS library to have an equal number of quality games/franchises

ok but they don't have to be DS originals they're still quality nintendo games, also any Pokemon handheld game up to R/S can be played on PSP.

No, they're terrible. I have spent enough time with the Vita and used enough analog sticks to make that determination. It took me five or six races in Wipeout just to stop over correcting all over the track, and I have beaten every other game in the series. The placement is bad enough. I am sick of accidentally hitting the damn X button. But not only did they place them poorly, they made them far too small. And if that wasn't bad enough, they're convex instead of concave and very prone to slipping. And that's not even mentioning the terrible throw and poor precision. Trying to aim without the gyro in Uncharted is like trying to throw a butterfly into your neighbor's mailbox from across the street.

If anything the 3DS needs a redesign, the amount of complaints I have heard about the 3DS..screen scratching, screen hinges loose, bulky design, lack of second circle pad. To each his own I guess.

Hmm, I would say neither need a redesign right now. The 3DS screen scratching loose hinges cases were far and few between. Lack of second circle pad is a biggy for me though.

The gyro aiming is a band aid for the terrible sticks. If you and your friends haven't noticed you must not be very discerning gamers.

The gyro aiming is a band aid for the terrible sticks. If you and your friends haven't noticed you must not be very discerning gamers.

hahahah, so if me and my friends think a little function of a game is cool we're discerning gamers? alright then, if you can't learn how to work a handheld with 2 joysticks you must be a idiot gamer.

It's fine if you like the concept or even implementation of the gyro aiming, but you have to realize it's only in the game because trying to aim without it is near impossible. Go ahead and try it without the gyro if you don't believe me.

I use it without gyro. It was almost impossible, but then I gave it a little thing called time, and then I got used to it, now it's fine. I still don't use the gyro for aiming

..or maybe thats how they designed the game, to show off and use the all of the vita's features and i never said i use the gyro as my main way of shooting, i use it once in a while but other then that i use the analog sticks

So they designed it with awful analog controls on purpose then. Glad you cleared that one up.

Playing it long enough so that you know how to compensate for the bad controls is not the same thing as good controls. I played Sonic '06 long enough to compensate but it still controlled like ass.

Well I'm glad that you have such extensive experience with the machine. to the point that you are able to tell people that actually own it that they are wrong....

It'll come down to games. The DS had more games to my liking than the PSP did last generation and so far it's been the same with the 3DS and Vita. If the Vita gets more games to my liking down the road I might pick one up.

I want a psvita, just way overpriced. If I got it, it wouldn't be for the vita games.
