I doubt it. There is so much on ps4, x1, and switch I want to dig into that I may not need a next gen console for a few years into the lifespan. Plus I never day 1 games anymore. I much prefer to get the complete edition for a fraction of the price.

Heavily leaning towards PS5 at launch. Scarlett not so much since I already have Xbox One X and I can live with games scaling down. Only have base PS4, so going with PS5 will be a must, plus if Socom rumors are true, easy decision.

No. I am not hyped enough yet, and I am enjoying many games on my xbox one x. I'm also really looking forward to the English version of Persona 5 Royale.

Yup, can't wait for some next-gen graphics that the PC crowd has been enjoying for the past few years. The fast loads alone are worth it for me as my playtime is more precious these days.

Always got PS at launch, but this time... most likely not. Gfx leaps keep getting smaller every gen, while game quality keeps going down (2019 was BAD!). No way i want to get a PS5 for more movie games (Dad of War 2 or Horizon 2)... it would take one hell of a launch exclusive with good MP. Plenty of games to play on PS4/Xone.

Backwards comp could be a system seller for me even if games suck. PS4 BC is basic stuff, not enough. I need at least PS3 BC...

Halo and forza 8 through gamepass straight out the gate.. boom £80 saved straight away,and with Ms having acquired a load of studios and promising 4/5 first party a year then next Xbox and gamepass look the best option for me.

I’ll keep my pro and trade in for ps5 a year later on Black Friday

Why you assume I'm not going to wait 3/4 years? MY gaming PC/Nintendo Switch gives me more enjoyable gaming needs as far as next-gen console will offer me.

I usually don't get consoles of new gens right away. Learned from the past that is unfortunately somewhat likely to get a defective console nowadays. I usually wait at least 3-6 months until after launch to go in on a system.

You're on a discussion board, but missing out on being part of the discussion for years over $50. You're missing 1/3rd of a console generation over $50. Time is far more valuable than money, and I'm not gonna let 14 cents a day make me miss out on my favorite hobby for over a year. If I really need that $50, I'll step up my hustle. But life is too short for all this waiting.

Not at all, cross-gen multiplats are a thing, as is PC gaming. And odds are, Nintendo wont release another console for a while after the PS5. Regardless, there is still plenty to experience in the meantime. Then when the PS5 and next Nintendo system have enough games to make them worth buying, I will buy them.

I will buy an Xbox at launch, it's got that new Halo and the games will be added to GamePass Ultimate subscriptions. I will get a PS5 when Persona 6 releases, if that's still a Sony exclusive.

And I already got the 9th gen Nintendo Switch at launch.

@SolidGame_basic: I’d love them and usually do, but I have much less money now, a huge backlog, and anyway the launch units are usually terrible comps with later ones. (Although at least launch Xbox One isn’t crazy loud)

I’d also like to buy any systems from the big 3, but may try to cut back...although with the rental services they have now, I might end up Eventually buying one and just using it for that, while using the other as my main system.

I almost certainly won’t by a PS4 at launch or in the first year.

Depending on funds, I suppose, I will probably try to grab a PS5. Will have a ton of games to play thanks to the BC, and thankfully, I decided to skip out on buying a PS4, so it'll totally be worth it.

Don't think I've ever bought a console "at launch". PS4 and Wii I probably bought at about the 1 year anniversary, and that's as fast as it gets for me (actually, probably did same with PS1 and PS2 as well). With PS3 I waited all the way until the slim model came out.

That will probably hold true here as well, though I guess we'll see when the price and specs are announced. If it's $399 then I might just go for it, esp if it has backwards compatibility (presumably would play all PS4 games as PS4 pro mode).

So basically same as this gen, and the gen before that.

Not all games have shitty business practices (or the shitty practice can be ignored). So long as that is the case I'm cool with my visual upgrade enhancements. If the business practice nonsense gets so bad it cannot be avoided or all games rely on them completely, then I'm basically done (or will just continually go back to my greatest hits of old games, rather than waste time with monetization garbage).

If PS5 is fully backwards compatible with PS4 games right out of the box, then definitely yes, i'll buy one day 1. If it's not, i'll wait for some games to come out for it first.

Most likely no. Kind of humoring not even getting the consoles ever. Sony's first party isn't good enough to warrant it, and Microsoft's stuff is already on PC (so there is no likely about it, straight up won't get a new xbox). It'll depend on a lot of things, at the least the PS5 better have BC.

Because all things being equal. The PS4 at the end of its life cycle got 2 games, barring me really digging The Last Guardian when I go back to it, that were worth my energy to play: Bloodborne and Dad of War. And Dad of War is still just good, not even great.

UC4 is both fun and fucking mind numbing with how much walking you do, Ratchet n Clank they ruined the characters and the gameplay is tired as ****, infamous was really boring, Horizon Zero Dawn was okay, nothing to write home about, until dawn isn't a game, Spiderman has slightly better batman combat, so it's better than pathetic, but still wack.

Yakuza n Nioh came to PC later, so I could have just held out.

Persona 5 is boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring to actually play and is pretty badly written to boot for a game gassed up for its dumb ass story.

I haven't given KH2: Final Mix a retry, so I can't write off KH3 yet.

And Gravity Rush was shit, so I didn't try Gravity Rush 2.

Astrobot seems shallow, and VR gaming is so far pretty wack so I didn't give PSVR a shot.

I'll get a ps5 for sure, but doubtful at launch. I have far to many games on backlog now, don't need a new system to make that even worse.

No, not this time. I may partake a little later. Reason being I'm pretty much already in next gen hardware territory on my PC with an 8th Gen i7, 16GB Ram and a RTX 2080.
