When I see it on sale for $40 or less. I'm on the fence as I'm not terribly impressed with 343's work so far. They are competent, but they haven't blown me away. That said, this game could finally be the game that changes my mind, but I'm not spending $60 to find out after being burned by them.
As people know, I follow developers more than franchises or brands, and right now 343 hasn't blown me away to get a full $60 after my last two acquisitions of their games (Halo 4 and Halo MCC). I also have a similar fear for instance with the upcoming MGS games after MGS5: Phantom is released. I'm not automatically going to be in favor of a non-Kojima MGS6, but like 343, I will give that new developer a shot with his/her first try. 343 let me down twice with Halo 4 and then Halo MasterChief Collection. Then after playing a CODified feeling Halo 5 Beta, I'm just not completely sold on the direction this developer is taking the Halo brand.
I also am disappointed that 343 has completely removed splitscreen gameplay from Halo which was a staple of the series. More graphics in lieu of splitscreen. No more LAN at my house, at least when it comes to Halo 5. M$ is making it hard for me to consider buying a second Xbone as Xbox to me represented some fun LAN experiences in the past two generations.
With a Halo LAN party/BBQ game party: It used to be 4 players per Xbox at my house with a total of four Xboxes and 16 people total. Each Xbox represented four gamers on a team. If there were less people, we did Three Xboxes and 12 players. Either way, the splitscreen was awesome, not just for LAN, but also for the Single Player campaign with a friend or family member. You could even go online splitscreen with a friend and that was fun as well. It's just all gone with Halo 5, which is odd since the Xbone is more powerful. That tells me new developer 343 has other priorities.
