[QUOTE="ArisShadows"]Its not a dumb reason, its a general concern with older games and HDTVs, that is still the reason I game my PS2 on my old SDTV. Little hard by the way, being I don't own a PSP.ArisShadows
I've had HDTV's before there was even a 360 around, you seem to be a bit too picky, since you're new to the HDTV thang.
The PS2 was the first console that had Component Cables, and games did support Widescreen/ED/HD. GT4 in 1080i! Yes please! It wasn't a lot, but it looked better than playing on an SDTV. Same for my Cube and Xbox back then.
Anyways, There is no problem, and you can make the games look better than they did before. That's like not buying any Wii VC games, since you game on a HDTV.
Your concern is based on tech that's new to you, where as many people on this planet, HD is old news. Don't get me wrong, old games are old, but I played PSOne/N64 games in HD back then, and today as well, no problems.
Sure they are old, It's PSOne/N64/SNES, etc, but it's fine.
I don't have a PS3 but i'd buy a crap ton of these games. I've never owned a Sony console so there are alot of games i've never played. Some of them have gone multiplat but they're so high in number that I feel like I wouldn't understand what's going on. The only one i've played is RE5 solely because a friend from work harped on it alot and he suggested another game that I like. If I had a PS3 and they were available i'd buy: Final Fantasy 7 and 8 (never played a FF game) Metal Gear Solid (never played a MGS game) Chrono Cross There was a jrpg called Valkyrie something (or maybe it was vagrant something) that I always heard was pretty good. If I saw that, i'd pick it up. Bushido Blade Tenchu The bad graphics wouldn't stop me. If an old game now sucks just because the graphics aren't good, it was probably a crappy game to begin with.Senor_Kami
You're really just better of buying a PS2 or PS1 and stocking up on a library because it doesn't get much better than PS1. If you know where to look.
But before you try out Final Fantasy, are you at all familiar with the JRPG genre? Make sure you'll like something before you buy it.
If you've only played RE5 I'd suggest RE2 and RE3 but be ready to GET USED TO a control system thats difficult to get used to at first, but it does happen.

It's only $5.99 for most ps1 games, only top of the line mega popular games like SOTN, FF7, MGS1, and RE1 have 9.99 so far, and it's a damn good deal you know in Japan square was charging $20 for FF7... we get for 1/2 it's almost $100 on ebay, it's a classic stop being cheap people. Seriously! Every game that is $10 is worth it and a steal. I own the following ps1 games on psn: FF7, MGS1, RE1,SUIKODEN, Castlevania SOTN, WILD ARMS, Medal of Honor, Medal of honor underground, Castlevania chronicles, Spyro 1 and 2, Crash 1 and 2, and Syphon Filter(which was free from Qore :)
These are games i loved in my early twenties, fresh out of High SChool these games and the ps1 rejuvinated me to gaming as Sony aimed the ps1 at the mature market, and not mature by blood and guts , mature as in the demographic.....I outgrew Nintendo and to some extent Sega back in Junior High, the PS1 was a breath of fresh air on the video game market!!!! I can't wait for more of my favorites to come....like VAgrant STory, Vandel Hearts 1 and 2, Grandia, Deception, Megaman legends, Parasite eve, FF anthologies(ff5 and 6), FF8, FF9, Legeded of dragoon, RE2, RE3, PErsona, Bushido Blade, Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Legia, Valkylrie Profile, Lunar silver story, Ogre battle/tactics, FF tactics, Suikoden 2, man I WANT THESE ****ICS NOW!!!!!
MGS1, FFVII, and Resident Evil are already on the PSN. I've downloaded FFVII already and while it looks horrid on my HDTV it plays very well and looks not to bad on my PSP. I'll probably get Resident Evil soon, I still have my old copy of MGS1 so no need to get it unless I want it on my PSP as well. So, now we all know that now Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid are coming to PSN. Soon Resident Evil and Wild Arms 2 will come, and not only that, Sony promises that 40 PSOne Classic will come to PSN by the end of the year....
So, the question is.... Will you buy them? For 9,99$ you'll get a classic game, although maybe the graphics are sick for your eyes, maybe I can stand it.

Not surprising considering where your alliengiance lies.... Seriously though.... $10 is not to much for the classic ps1 titles at all. Hell a lot of these games have better graphics than ds games yet people have no problem forking over $40 for those. And lets not forget you can play these on your psp and use the same save file...how cool is that? Only the top games are $10, the majority is $5 it's perfectly priced!Nope, not a chance. Not only is $9.99 too much, but nostalgia is a *****, especially on large HD sets.

Is that why they got rid of BC? Kinda low if you ask me. And what if I want to play the game but my console doesn't work? Sure having a copy seems nice but I'd rather have a hard copy than software. I don't approve of software games.
ALL PS3s play PS1 games. so no it is not low.Is that why they got rid of BC? Kinda low if you ask me. And what if I want to play the game but my console doesn't work? Sure having a copy seems nice but I'd rather have a hard copy than software. I don't approve of software games.

Just to put things in perspective.
Final Fantasy 7 on Amazon.com 56$ or more used 150$ or more new!

PSN version 9.99$
I think FF7 sells itself.(already the number one download on PSN) As for the rest of the games, its nice to know that they are there for people who haven't played them.
Dude for one you can download the game as many times as you need to, it's just tied to your psn account. So it needs to be registiered to the hardware when you download. It also works on psp, so you can have a copy on each. The hardware registration is to prevent piracy, but other than that, like i said it's just like any other game on PSN, you buy it, it's yours to download anytime...just like steam on pc (don't know if xbox does this or not)Is that why they got rid of BC?
