With talks about Windows 8 being more gaming focused. What would you want MS to do to benefit your gaming?

I don't expect anything from it. Its supposed to be an OS for ARM based CPUs, include better anti-piracy methods (this went unexplained,) and have better "gaming" support. I'm sticking with Windows 7 for the next 5 years or until DX12/13/14/ect becomes a necessity.
I dont know why, but I feel like im in the PC forums and not System Wars Forums for the past few days
When you are not thinking ahead, you aren't competing, something is always down the pipelines for companies, it's how they survive.I think it's too soon for a Windows 8. If they follow along the path of Windows 7 though, then they're on the right track. Their best OS yet.

Im still using XP pro. Havent even used W7. W7 hasnt been out that long. I sure hope W8 isnt on the way already..thats kind of dumb.
Well, I don't really know what goes into an OS to make it benefit my gaming other than using less resources, and being able to offer up to date features like the latest Direct X, or being able to use more than 4gb of ram.

There was nothing wrong with XP when it first came out. It was a huge success after Windows 2000. The fact is shareholder's are pushing MS to start releasing new operating systems every 2 years instead of the 3 or 4 years that was happening before. Vista was a rushed operating system because the shareholder's pushed for a release. Windows 7 is what developer's pictured Vista being. MS will continue releasing new OS's every couple of years but only a fool will adopt each one.I think it's too soon for a Windows 8. There were some things wrong with xp when it came out main thing was the product support and programs not working in the new environment it took a couple months before everyone came on board and it stabalized when service pack 2 came out. Vista was not bad if you had met the high system requirements at the time. The only problem i can think of was the amount of ram it ate up and the fact that it prompted you for everything you did on it.

"Would you like to confirm this?"
Yes please
"Are you sure you would like to confirm this?"
Damnit yes
(Processing...) "Windows needs to ok your ok while you ok this ok."
FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I hate Vista so damn much. All I tried to do was watch some por.....portraits. Yes thats it
It will propably have full kinect support (not for hardware, I think they will push it as software to be used with various brands of hardware) for both gaming and Windows OS functionality. Also...built in appstore is likely too. Besides that. DirectX 12 is propably a good bet (altough I'm sure it will be avaible for older OSes too) as well as expanded touch functionality and big push for cloud.
From personal experience, by the time a company is rolling out a product, they've already been talking about the next release for at least a month.
definetly will have this. ARM support, bettr snti piracy, probably have something planned with Sidewinder, probably have a launch line up of games that are DX10/11 only. But the OS is comming end of 2012 so IF MS is serious about PC gaming we'l see it from here till then.it is probably going to have some integration with GFWL

XP was not fine when it came out, there were a huge number of security holes and sp2 was a major development that delayed the release of thier next OS. MS has always released OSes every 2 or 3 years... XP was the exception. You had Windows 95, Windows 95 OSR2, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows XP.... Then Vista, followed shortly by Windows 7, and Windows 8 will probably be along soon. That wasn't even counting the Windows NT releases before Windows 2000.[QUOTE="Captain__Tripps"][QUOTE="SiKh22"] When you are not thinking ahead, you aren't competing, something is always down the pipelines for companies, it's how they survive. nygiantsfan1
[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]Probably yeah :P This. You can't expect people who already purchased Windows 7 to switch to yet another untested MS windows that supposedly focuses on gaming.Let's see. Failure?

MS releasing a new os every 2-3 years is the norm, and most people don't even switch os at all... They just use whatever comes with thier PC. Majority of PC users didn't purchase windows 7 either, it came with their computer. Im sure there is a sizable market of people who do purchase operating systems such as gamers and enthusiasiasts, but a lot of these people... actually like upgrading.Let's see. Failure?

will have GFWL built in, they will abuse their monopoly once again and try to kill off Steam, lets see what happens
>anti piracy
no such thing on an OS, i have no idea what they mean but its lies
>gaming Os
no such thing, Microsoft dont care about PC gaming, infact they seemed to want to dead a while back
>Kinect support and directx12
they will most likely make kinect and some xbox 360 games directx12 only to sell more copies of windows 8
I was going to say this......which would mean it's time to find a new hobby.Fees for online gaming.
DerpyMcDerp
I want it to be as light as linux, linux uses around half a gig of ram, windows stripped down to just what i want its 1.25 gb. Honestly i couldn't care, as long as the platform is stable i don't care.
I will try it just becuase i will mostlikely be able to get it for free.

The PC is hacked to death. People would get around paying to play on the PC in a matter of minutes. People think consoels are hacked and in danger..lol..THE pc has been riped open from one end to the other for years. NO way in h&*! would it work. SO never worry about that. Heck you can get around paying for online play with consoles..."xbconnect" to name one way.
I never had any problems with Vista, ran just as good as 7 for me.... Maybe low-end hardware had problems ? dont know, but it was a fine OS for the years I had it.
I thought vista was their 'gaming os'?
I prefer windows 7.
You know, i think i'll just stop listening to all that nonsense coming from them.

I want them to give it for free, or let me play ALL games in Windows 7, there is zero reason to make us upgrade just to play with the next DX, seems like a blackmail
Knowing Microsoft, they will try to push 360 and PC closer together; rather than doing what is in PC's interests. The moment they try to involve 360, they will have screwed up. They should be focusing on making something the best possible for PC gaming, not what's good for their consoles. But they will focus on what's good for their console, even when 360 shouldn't be involved in any way.
That's why Microsoft can never be the representative of PC gaming, they'd sooner hurt PC than their console.
i don't want to play games on windows . I don't want to spend 120$ on their software to run my games off of . But if windows 8 has a game mode where it runs only games and game related apps then i might be more intesrted .
After using linux win 7 just feels slow on my pc .
Microsoft called Vista the gaming OS because it had Direct X 11 and Halo 2 would only run on vista exclusive not XP. It turned to be a big fail in the end and got abandoned.
Windows 7 has only been on the market for 15 months, so I'm sticking with it.
Microsoft doesn't need another OS, they're still supporting XP until 2014.
