Sony suck with software. I always wondered why updates for games on Sony games are always huge compared to the same update for the 360 version. Thats what i love about the 360, it updates games in seconds whereas if you havent played a PS3 game in a while, you could be in for a huge updateRR360DD
omg i remember this one time, i was gonna jump on my ps3 to play a game. hadnt turned the system on in a while, maybe a month or two. so i turn the system on to find that i need to update the system to get online....so i do that. takes about 30 minutes for the download and install....then i put the game in and it required yet another update another 20 minutes. by the time it was finished i had lost all interest in playint the game and went outside.
Download speed on PSN is just as fast as any other device I own, but yeah the background install would be nice. As far as updates go, PS+ is nice for that since it handles the updates for you. EmperorSupreme

Thats strange as my downloads on the PS3 are generally slower than what one expect for the connection I have. Whats even stranger it seems to be a consensus that most PS3 users have noticed slower speeds....Hmmmm Denial? The consensus around 360 fans maybe,download speed were slow back in 2006 2007,now now a download on my PS3 takes the same time it took on my PC,many people are the same,connection doesn't always have to do with your platform,but your connection or how much people around you use the same service,and even port problems. Zune allows you to sync all of your purchase to any device, via the service aka the CLOUD!!! Zune does not require you to contact them for deleted items (looking at you iTune Movies) to have the ability to re-download what you already purchased. Zune does not allow you to purchase the same item twice...or three times....or even four times!!!! Zune allows from streaming of Music/TV/VIdeo content....I can stream it from my PC, Xbox, whenever I want. I can also download a movie, and watch it while it downloads.... I also have a list of every item I have purchased from Zune, and can download those items whenever I want, in any way that suits me at that time. The Zune service gives you a lot more freedom, access to what your purchase, or want to purchase. The Zune service treats you like an adult, while the iTunes service treats you like a child, and limits your ability without dealing directly with them first.
I didn't see his comment. It's fine if you like the Zune software. I hope they incorporate enhanced versions into future Win 7/8 devices. It's hard to get behind Zune stuff when the big wigs at MS won't even use the word anymore.

true that the ps3 updates are WAY too slow though... The 3.66 update I did took less than 10 minutes for me to download and install. It's a minor update that's about 120 GB, with other updates being over 300.
This is a non-issue, people just like to complain about everything they don't fully understand. There is a reason that it is like that. Could it be better? Probably a little, but who fargin cares, do somethings else while it updates.
The iPhone 4 costs 3 times as much as a Playstation 3. Otherwise yeah, apple does a good job of streamlining things, but sometimes a bit too much for me.
If Apple joined in on the console market, you might as well buy a gaming PC that can play Crysis on 1080p 60fps with whatever money you'll fork over for an Apple console!

I agree about the integration, it's pretty disappointing seeing all this lost potential. I am quite nervous about W8, it looks so simple. I am nervous that they will take away to much of what I love about windows and it's freedom . If they streamline it to much I will not be upgrading, and if they continue that with their other products I will be switching to another OS. The only other respectable one would be with an apple product.

Wow you can't just admit the truth? Zune is superior, if I somehow lose all my data due to a fire theft, whatever, I can just download everything without contacting the service provider and waiting for a response and approval/ a link to redownload my items that I purchased. I can also stream any video content. iTunes is a good device , it's just not better than zune. I really think that you should be less bias an more honest about the superior service. If you love apple good for you, I am using an iPad(2) right now.
It's nice that whenever I purchase an item on zune that I get access to it from any device with zune. No syncing/ transferring bs. Instant access across the board. Don't you agree that iTunes would benefit from that?
I don't think I've ever had an update that took longer than 5 mintues for my PS3 and I have a DSL connection. I don't really understand how people are getting slow downloads, unless 2-5 minutes is an unbearable wait for people.

It's not the end of the world, but it is annoying. You download and then install. Makes it annoying when you have half-n-hour to play and you spend a third of that waiting.

You're trying to compare 5 yr old hardware to a new device which is just idiotic. Of course it's going to be faster and allow you to do things that older hardware wont. I cant seriously believe you want Apple to get into the video game market. If they made a console it would cost $1000 and perform on par with current consoles. That's a tough pill to swallow for consumers even if they do love Apple.
