Makes me wonder if this is due to the fact it released on consoles highly deficient of quality games, and had high system requirements.
It's likely that as time goes by, PC sales will be above that of both consoles individually.
Plus, this was 3 months ago.
"We do not give detailed information on the distribution of sales Witcher 3. In greatly simplified by the end of June 2015. 30 % of units sold, our latest title is the PC version and 70 % are versions of the console"
This is supposedly TC's source.
Yes and? Are CDPR employees not trust worthy enough? lol

Yeah, right about the time sales revenue drop off a cliff due to price cuts and STEAM SALES fence sitters
@phantomfire335: with that kind of gap?. LOL hell no.
I don't mean both consoles combined...
The part I find interesting is that digital sales were 50% of the total revenue, yet 25% of the total sales.
This leads me to suppose that the used game market might have boosted the percentages for the retail side. I wonder how many copes of that 70% were actually bought new.
"Bu..Bu..Bu...masteraaacceeee!!!!!"
Lol no wonder PC has sh*t exclusives. Devs need consoles to sell games to since consolites aren't pirates like the beggar race.
This reminds me of when I owned hermits a few weeks ago. They wanted to deny the fact that just about every game sales better on consoles. Buh buh the PC brings in more revenue. The sad thing is it because of monthly subscriptions and microtransactions. The things that everyone hates is what makes the PC so successful. As good ole game sales do better on consoles.

The delusions this one has LOL.
Pray to Gaben, maybe he'll buy some more Witcher 3 games for PC.
Just LOL
They have already said they sold more on GoG than on Steam.
Steam gamers adopting that poisonous race-to-the-bottom pricing smh

lolwut?
More higher scoring exclusives than either the POS4 and XBONE.

I was happy when I learned this. GOG is more pro consumer than Steam. I say this as a Steam user who bought TW3 on GOG. :)
Witcher 3 is a console game though.
Now it is.
LOL
Nah. Post Witcher 2 the series became console centric. It's why everyone calls Witcher 3 casual trash with terrible gameplay.
Another developer gone to shit. a pity.
lolwut? Witcher series has always had terrible gameplay, consoles didn't make that happen, silly hermit.
And?
I do not speak for all PC fanboys but merely my own observations, so don't lump me in with them, but this only shows that the high end PC gaming market that are interested in an RPG are roughly the same as the amount of console gamers are that are too. Taking nearly 1/3rd of the sales is pretty good.
How many high end PC gamers do you think there are? It's a sizeable market, but it's not in the hundreds of millions. This kind of sales breakdown is pretty solid.
The biggest difference is that the PC version is going to keep selling as the price drops and more people upgrade their PCs or simply just get around to playing Witcher 3. CD Project Red doesn't have to worry about second hand sales. All future revenue of Witcher 3 sales on the PC go to them, not to Gamestop or other second hand stores. We all know that console game sales basically after a few weeks from launch. PC games sales are far more steady over a longer period of time.

Nah. Post Witcher 2 the series became entirely console centric. It's why everyone calls Witcher 3 a disappointment.
Another developer gone to shit. a pity.
Gone to shit with nearly perfect ratings on every platform and millions of sales? That's insane. Witcher 3 is being hailed as one of the best games of the year on all platforms. Stop the nonsense.
This kind of hyperbole shit makes PC gamers look like whiny, entitled babies who cry if a developer doesn't cater exclusively to them.

I suppose you're right about that, but TW3 is by far the worst.

I am a entitled, you have that much right. And I do want developers to cater to me and develop a game with PC in mind first, whether the game goes to consoles eventually or not.

That is the exact opposite that everybody else has said.
You need to just stop worrying about the consoles all together. Just ignore they exist and you'll be happier. This ridiculous PC master race mentality is a quick way to becoming a cynical asshole who can't enjoy anything.
@Wasdie: PSN and XBL sales will render that argument obsolete. At 30% it easily sold worse then a PS4 that only had a install base of 25 million.
This is the first time I've ever heard somebody talking about PSN and XBL sales. Do you have absolutely any evidence to back up your claim?
We've seen it for years and years that PC games sell stronger throughout their lives than console games. You have to provide some evidence that PSN and XBL DD sales are somehow relevant in the long term.
Lol, PC and Xbox One has 65% of sales and PS4 only has 35% what a complete failure, why did they even bother releasing it on PS4. What an embarrassment for Cows!
Why did everyone ignore the 50% profit coming from the 25% digital sales, PC the most profitable platform for developers.

You know that Witcher 3 will keep selling on PC for years and years to come when price its getting lower and lower right ? Thats 30% can easily become a 40-50%
You know that Witcher 3 will keep selling on PC for years and years to come when price its getting lower and lower right ? Thats 30% can easily become a 40-50%
Doesn't really help the devs if the PC gamers wait until it's a pittance in a sale, years down the road. They care mostly about the full cost sales up front to make the bulk of their money.
lolwut? Witcher series has always had terrible gameplay, consoles didn't make that happen, silly hermit.

I found 3>2>1.
And I found 2 > 1 > 3
are you high? Witcher 2's combat was pretty bad, and I really liked that game. The story was the weakest of the games since it was so focused on politics, still a great story, just harder to follow and less personal/involving.
Witcher 3's combat is just Witcher 2's combat but improved. I don't think I've ever heard someone try and argue that W2 had better gameplay than 3. I'm trying to find some angle where that might be true but I just cant see it. I'd say it was the weakest in the series in all areas apart from visuals.
As long as the game sold well I'm happy. I can't see CDPR abandoning the PC so I don't see the problem here.

You do know that lower prices mean less money for the devs, right? That game budgets are mostly measured on how studios predict a game will sell at full price, not Steam price cuts.
You think W3 was greenlit on the expectation that it would sell millions of copies at £9,99 on Steam? lol

>Believing what others say
I am a cynical asshole, but not because of "le master race meme." I'm a cynical asshole because games are being developed with consoles in mind first and that typically leads to dumbed down games designed to require as little thought as possible, which is more than enough to ruin a series entirely. I'll stop worrying about consoles and console gamers when they stop ruining games.
Anyway, I don't understand why anyone gives a **** about which platform had the best sales for a game or how that could be used to claim ownage. Just seems like a petty attempt to grasp at straws.
You know that Witcher 3 will keep selling on PC for years and years to come when price its getting lower and lower right ? Thats 30% can easily become a 40-50%

They are still sales though ... and dont be so negative about low prices ... noone will whine about a million or 2 of hot dollars after 4-5 years of the original release. So i dont get your logic
So basically TC presents no proof. A polish forum with a random poster is hardly a trustworthy source.
@Wasdie: Digital sales are at an all time high on console yet somehow they are irrelevant? About 30% of console sales are digital and unfortunately that number will probably grow. It's also a known fact console games sale better PERIOD! The PC versions of games will rarely eclipse the console versions of overall sales even if the sales are more steady.

Less money though higher % of that pie your showed. And guess what , money is money , even if its less , its still as good as ever.
As for your question , thats totally out of your ass so what to answer on that ? The logic says , after full price here it comes the price cuts , as everything . PC will keep selling and selling ... console wont.
