Far Cry is remebered for the AI and graphics, Halo is remebered for the gameplay and story.
Crysis will be great, and one of the best FPSs of 07
The artificial intelligence in Crysis also aims to be realistic and believable. Enemy soldiers constantly employ tactical maneuvers, work as squads, hide and ambush amongst the scenery, and adapt to changing environments and conditions. Soldiers will also respond to sound and subtle movements triggered by the player's movement. While not engaged in combat, the AI will also exhibit typical and lifelike behavior, such as smoking, yawning, talking, waxing cars, patrolling, saluting superior officers, etc.
Oh yeah, it's going to have SPECTACULAR and IMMERSIVE gameplay. Anyone that denies that is fooling themselves.
Crysis may shine, but the gameplay looks outdated, nothing revolutionary in that department.Dualshockin

Power Struggle: All players start the game on one of two teams with nothing more than a pistol and a basic nano-suit. The two possible teams are the US Delta Force, or the North Korean Army. After the players have joined a team, they will fight to earn points. These points are more than cosmetic; Points are used to purchase weapons, vehicles and even entire manufacturing plants. How one earns points will depend on what type/rank of player they have killed. For example, if a beginner defeats a general, then they will receive more points than if the general had killed the beginner. Weapons may be taken from the corpses of dead opponents and team mates, and vehicles can be stolen from the opposing side with the use of lockpicks, giving underdog players a chance to compete with enemies who are able to buy more advanced equipment.
Each game in "Power Struggle" mode may last over 10 hours (5 simulated days). Players may even crossbreed vehicles with alien technology, if they bring the technology back to their base from one of several alien crash sites randomly generated on the map. Thus, one can create an invisible tank or a jeep that has a mounted freeze gun rather than a standard machine gun. Players can buy weapons from where you spawn or at certain control points amongst the map. However, should the player die, they will lose their guns and any of their vehicles, assuming their vehicle had been destroyed when they perished.
That's one of the multiplayer modes.

Yes,outdated. What's new about shooting aliens on an island?Hiding behind barracades?Driving a tanker?
I have yet to see or hear one feature of Crysis that sets itself apart from the current FPS's available.

Wow, I didn't know that, that sounds really awesome. Similar to Chromehounds, and that was a sick online game.

I was completely unimpressed with Farcry. Very mediocre imo.NocturnalDemon
I thought it was better than Half-Life 2. Far Cry I couldn't stop playing, it was a real FPS, while Half-Life 2 is more like an FPLOL GRAVITY IS KOOLz!!1!1!! Half-Life got boring half way through.
And Far Cry's realistic difficulty mode is so much fun.

I did read it,but nothing impressed me tbh.
It sounds like the gameplay will be excellent, but in practise,it will disapoint.Nothing original and unique.

hahaha, says dualshockin.
aside from that note
Crysis looks amazing. The game play looks amazing, and how the guns have all these types of settings, and I was reading in PC gamer about the crazy controls for the giant alien walkers.
I'm really excited for this game.

Why do games have to reinvent the wheel every time?I fail to see what makes Far Cry so special. From what I've played of its several incarnations, it seems to be nothing but an average FPS...project343They are very different from the original, yet I do not think that Far Cry is as good as some people made it out to be... it really went downhill when mutants came into the mix.

It is ORIGINAL and UNIQUE. How many games have an upgradable nano suit? AI that works in squads, and tactics? How many allow you to choose what you want to do with that suit, do you want to upgrade the strength? or speed? The gameplay sounds fantastic in my opinion, idk why you say it is uoriginal

play the PC original, that was the only one that was actually made by Crytek.
yeah the PC version is 100% different than the console versions.

I did too, but towards the end it felt kind of lame. It is definitely a unique experience though and the console version did not come close to it in my opinion.hahaha, says dualshockin.aside from that note :roll:Crysis looks amazing. I didn't like the aiming system in Instincts, it felt half-assed. GS disagrees with you though, on the PC>Xbox comment. They said "Far Cry Instincts is even better than its PC predecessor"
Why do games have to reinvent the wheel every time?smokeydabear076With graphics that good,is it too much to ask for original and unique gameplay? I agree with your logic, that games don't have to reinvent the wheel each time. But this theory doesn't work for new games.

Yeah I know that GS does not agree with me that is why I said IMO. And yeah I think that the aiming system and control scheme is what destroyed Instincts for me.[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]Why do games have to reinvent the wheel every time?DualshockinWith graphics that good,is it too much to ask for original and unique gameplay? I played it all, but I yelled at my TV often because something happened that was the controls fault. The last couple of hours or so I didn't have much trouble.

Here is the thing, FPSs don't have to redefine the genre with each new game. FPSs are often great because they do the current formula very well. You can tell when a game does something new though, like HL2.

Anyway it is your loss because you will never experience it and even if you did I doubt that you would enjoy it because your expectations would be set so high. Why are you setting the standards so high for this game in the first place?

I don't know what this guy was thinking. It got a lower score on gamerankings than the PC version. They weren't even alike, so how can you compare them? FarCry(PC) was so great because it was VERY open-ended and allowed you to go anywhere you wanted to and take on objectives any way you wanted to. The only thing that I disliked about it was when the mutants started coming into play. But Crytek admitted to this mistake and even admitted that the MP was very lackluster. FarCry(PC) was rushed, had a small budget, and only a 20 person dev team. Now they have all the time they want, a $30 million budget, and a 120 person dev team. If you are expecting anything less than FarCry, you are in serious denial.

No, a good online FPS......
Far Cry is remebered for the AI and graphics, Halo is remebered for the gameplay and story.
Crysis will be great, and one of the best FPSs of 07
Bansheesdie
then how come I keep going back to it 3 years after it came for its awesmoe gameplay, the fact is farcry is much more than graphic and ai and crysis will be the same, halo has a very generic single player mode, its just like your average fps while farcry brough new things to the fps genre just like crysis will and for crytek's first game to sell millions and to chalenge half life 2, halo 2, and doom3 for the 2004 shooter of the year is quite a achevement.
