I think the 720 will be very profitable at launch. Let's not forget they'll have some multiplats aswell and social gaming functions such as Facebook and Skype. My point is, the 720 will have a variety of experiences to offer for the non gamer especially as well as the gamer.
I think as long as Microsoft is profitable their fanbase will remain loyal despite the lack of core titles.
Is this a good strategy for MS? Discuss.

So, let me get this straight..... Your basically saying that Microsoft's fanbase is only loyal because Microsoft is profitable? lmao
You have that backwards man... Microsoft is profitable because of the fanbase. What you stated makes absolutely no sense.
It is a given we are talking about the Xbox brand.
If this is a shot at SONY fans, the Playstation brand is not where their problems have come from. Games, movies, and music are all profitable for SONY.
Also, I have never seen hype as high as it is for the PS4. Those who say hype for the PS3 was this high are idiots.... I for one was not very excited as well as most the people I know. However, I am extremely hyped for the PS4, and so are most of the people I know. Not to mention Gamespot and several other retailers have expressed very high demand for the PS4.
The 720 might be the exact same once more is revealed, however, as of now that simply has not been the case.
its no coincidence that sony started going broke after the ps3
