Activision CEO Bobby Kotick mentioned to Financial Times that he is frustrated by the Xbox Live business model, because Microsoft would benefit the most from the service. For example over 60% subscribers are on Live because of Call of Duty series, but Activision doesn't get any revenue from it.

http://www.mygaming.co.za/news/news/6603-Bobby-Kotick-reckon-XBL-subscriptions-exist-for-COD.html

Oh oh!! I think MS should start paying Kotick some of those big chunks of money if they don't wanna lose 60% of their fanbase.

Once Halo Reach comes out the majority will be playing that. Kotick isa greedy idiot and probably doesnt understand that Activision has severely damaged the COD brand. I would not be surprised if the next COD doesn't do nearly as well as MW2.

So from what your saying the 60% means that six of every ten people have xbox live just because of a CoD game? I just don't see that from my five years of experience on xbox live. Now, I can see six of every ten people on xbox live playing a CoD game at some point in time or a CoD game being their main game at some point but I doubt that's the only reason why they have xbox live. There are plenty of other good games out there such as Halo, Gears of War, etc.

It totally makes since that Activision has no business requesting money from Microsoft, if they do anything (the only thing that can do) is make it pay to play but if they do that, I predict a great fall of CoD players because a majority of people don't like to pay to play especially since they already pay.

Hmm. I was enjoying Xbox Live back when I had my original Xbox, and I was hooked on the Ghost Recon, and Rainbow 6 titles! I actually thought Ubisoft was leading the way then, and I could see COD leading on Xbox live now. I still think Xbox Live would be going strong with or without the COD series. While CoD is good, its notgoing to make or break Live, or PSN for that matter. Kottick can shove his head up his own arse for all I care.

Oh great, your game sold millions, and is being played non stop on Xbox Live, but now you figure Activision should get some kinda royalties off the Live service, since their game is the #1 title on their service??? Look, we purchase most of the DLC that comes out for the series, which we end up paying close to $80 - $90 for the game once we are done, sohopefully we get our moneys worth playing it non-stopover Xbox Live, or PSN, which Activision should be proud of, or humbled by. I know his job is to make the company $$,but he seems a little out of hand on this one.
