World of Goo (PC) Review *9.0*

I pay enough attention to know Gamespot has reviewed exactly one WiiWare game in the past several months.

GS taking time for a separate review on a PC game isn't anything ground-breaking. If Gamespot took the time, during the busiest part of the gaming year, to make a separate review for a WiiWare game, I'll dance around my neighborhood naked and upload the video for all of GS to see.

except that actualy GS is overlooking PC games a lot more than Wii ones, you might complain they don't review enough Wiiware games, but they still review more of them than they do PC downloadable-only games.AdrianWerner

audiosurf gets boring if uve played it long enough, but even after playing the demo for 15 hrs i havnt found this game boring.

I'm sure Gears of War 2 will take Audiosurf's spot, however.

You're creating a hierarchy based on system capabilites rather than grading the game on its own merit. If you're going by system capabilites then every game availible on PC, even the freeware titles > anything on consoles in terms of..EVERYTHING. Were did this imaginary standard come from as if someone would enjoy it less than big budget games?

Whats more crazy is that you're degrading a game based on our ability to DL or purchase it at retail..? I wonder if buying Far Cry 2 off Steam will suck more or less than getting it from my Wal Mart :o

That would be unfair to downloadable games. Developers try just as hard on a DL game as they do on a retail game.

Its true that the value would suffer from being a 60$ game.

But everything else holds true AAA standards.

For me spending 20$ on a 5 hour game with AAA gameplay is as good as spending 60$ on a 15 hour game with AAA gameplay..

Also value is something that really differs from game too game.. If you compare any single player game with a multiplayer game you will probably get 10 times as much value in the multiplayer one. Myself I consider the fun you have while the game lasts is the most important in scoring, value comes second.

If I would compare any game with Warcraft 3 (I played that a lot, made maps, played custom maps, etc) then no other game (exept maybe CS) would be close too achieving a score of 5 or higher in value, thus robbing every single non-mmorpg AAA title of its AAA value (prety much).

Downloading demo now, I wish GS reviewed more of these small games. Tbh I don't really care about the reviews for big name titles because they are so hyped up you usually know exactly what they are long before they get released. Small games like this on the other hand easily slip under the radar unless the reviewers bring them up.

And this game does not count to the AAA list as far as I'm concerned.
