Worldwide Hardware Sales March 2008 - w/ Running totals for Entire Year

Each month I'm gonna try and pick up the hardware sell-through for Japan, America, and European/Others estimates and post it here. I'll also try to keep a running total as well. Prior month's numbers are linked below.

• ***ALL NUMBERS COME FROM EITHER MEDIA CREATE OR THE NPD. THE ONLY NUMBERS WHICH ARE GENERATED FROM VGCHARTZ ARE THOSE FOR THE EUROPEAN/OTHERS TERRITORIES. THEY ARE MEANT AS PLACEHOLDERS AND ARE MARKED AS ESTIMATES.

Good work. Nintendo is destroying the competition, good for them.

I'm surprised the PS3 is doing so well compared to how it was last year (or how people said it was doing last year). I've never bothered looking at the numbers but I was always told the PS3 was dying. The 360 needs to step up in regions outside of the US if it wants to be successful.

I'm just glad the gaming industry is booming right now.

Great informative thread, I agree with the others, it should be placed at the top for future reference. Nintendo ruling as usual, but can't manage to keep enough Wii's on the shelf, no matter how many they make per month. :(

Funny how last night they were raving over how the 360 beat the PS3 in NPD numbers just by 5,000 units. They even went as far to claim that the shortage of 360s were over and things are back on track with the PS3 finishing last. I am looking at you, Reverse Cychology.

I'm surprised that the 360 squeezed out a NA victory this month. THe PS3 had a good few months with no real games out...funny how that hasn't changed but sales went down slightly.

Also funny how MS didn't report on any shortages despite this months sales being exactly the same as the last couple months.

Frankly, I think its going to be a neck and neck war right until the end. Maybe somebody should just force MS and Sony into a caged fist fight and put it on pay per view. That's really what people would like to see at this point.

THis is what cracks me up:

January - 360 sells 250,000 and loses to the PS3. Lemmings say, "It's teh SHORTAGES!"

February - 360 sells 250,000, and loses to the PS3. Lemmings say, "It's teh SHORTAGES!"

March - 360 sells 250,000, but beats the PS3. Suddenly lemmings say the shortages are over?

It tells me which fanboy group is the most likely to faithfully believe corporate PR like its the word of god. After all...MS put out the "shortages" press release right before January and February NPD. No press release right before March NPD.

When ps3 has been out as long as 360 has now it will be selling just as much. This thread is practically infested with cows though :-[angelkimne

Anything they could say would reek of damage controls. The 360 finally beat the PS3, but only in NA and only by around 5,000 units.

great thread mike, i always enjoy seeing this thread and seeing the numbers and how they compare gj, and I love waiting for some noob who doesnt read the thread and say "vgchartz ha noob!" and then look like an idiot when they realize that only europe and other countries are the only ones.

360 is still getting beat down WW, N still on top and I think it might be that way with MK and wiifit (as much as I hate that so-called excuse for a game). But the ps3 has huge momentum and now with GT5P out in the states and GTAIV soon to follow I'm predicting a win for the PS3 in April WW...

May- should be interesting and June will be MGS4 month...
