Poll Worst Game of The Year this generation? (178 votes)
Zelda: Breath of the Wild 14%
Uncharted 4 20%
The Witcher 3 7%
Dragon Age Inquisition 46%
Other? There is no other. 13%
Note, i'm selecting the games in their respective years that had the most amount of awards by gaming publications.
My personal pick is Uncharted 4. Amazing game, with mind blowing visuals but Overwatch was 100000 times more innovative and evolutionary. I was stunned to find out most publications chose Uncharted 4.
That's the thing about threads. They aren't bound by the original post. I found your poll boring so I ignored it.
...
ya they are
...
thats the whole point of the thread
Interesting. I see quite a few people in this thread who decided not to reply with one of the choices in the poll. Guess they thought another game was worth mentioning as well. The point of the thread is whatever the people who reply to it think it is, and when they cease to care then the thread dies.
If anything op shouldnt have put in an other option, but that doesnt mean you just throw out whatever game thats on your mind, thats a derail
Exactly. This is my thread, i'm going based on the most ammount of goty recieved. I made it clear in the op. So I don't get his point, that his game isn't featured on my thread? I really don't care. Make your own thread.
No, this is not your thread. It's gamespot's thread. As soon as you hit post you relinquished ownership of it. They own every bit of content on this site. As far as "throwing out whatever game that's on your mind" that's not really the case. Shadow of Mordor was a game of the year here and on other sites so it's relevant. I was the 6th person in this thread to mention Shadow of Mordor so it's relevant to others in this thread as well.
2014 was a disappointing year. A lot of games from 2014 were meh. It seemed like mainly Nintendo exclusives were great that year. I'll vote for Dragon Age Inquisition.

Stop hijacking threads and make your own. Plain and simple.

All I did was comment about a game that was game of the year that I did not think deserved it. A game that was a pretty popular mention in the thread before I got here. It just happened to not be one of the selections on your precious poll. You are doing a great job of hijacking your own thread by continuing to engage. You could've just let my original comment be instead of popping a blood vessel over it. It's kinda funny IMO.
I voted DA:I, because the game was a mess. But I played it all the way through and would actually love to return to that world. It was almost a great game, but dropped the ball in important places left and right. Did not deserve to be GOTY at all, but I'd love to see an improved sequel.
Surely it must be Dragon Age: I. Haven't played it myself, and will make sure I never will. I've played the first Dragon Age. People said it was good. It sucked. A worse Dragon Age than that must be horrible.

bioware games in general suck.
I tried Mass effect and its a bad cover shooter.
The first was pretty cool I thought, only because of the story, characters, soundtrack and atmosphere. The gameplay was mediocre though, I agree. And yes, most Bioware games are terrible, I agree about that too.
It's Uncharted 4 or Dragon Age to me. LOL "at least Uncharted 4 didn't have lootboxes" did anyone force people to buy Overwatch lootboxes? At least Overwatch could get me to play it more than once.

I found it flawed, but beautiful. The world sucked me in. Couldn't get that into Breath of The Wild though.

I'm not, it's actually very funny that you got mad for not having your game on the poll. Then got salty when "Not a lot of people will vote" yet the poll has over 170 votes xD

I haven't felt anything but amusement while engaging with you. You on the other hand are quite clearly approaching apoplectic. So mad, in fact, that you are manufacturing quotes of things I never said. Where did I say "not a lot of people will vote?" The only thing I said that is within the same galaxy as that quote would be that I found your poll to be boring and that there were others who replied to this thread with games not on your poll. Buy hey, congrats on your 170+ votes! That's an amazing achievement! You know what I think your poll needs to really take off? Shadow of Mordor;)

It is quite sad, you keep necro bumping my thread when you realize that you lost the debate years ago. Why are you so addicted to this? Just admit it is a sucefull thread and take off the salt.
I voted for DA:I. From what I can tell the others all deserved their award, especially Witcher 3. But DA: I? If that's a game of the year, that's a year we need to be scrubbing from history.

I didn't even realize that we were debating. I thought I did admit that this thread is quite "sucefull" when I congratulated you on all your votes. You should feel very good about yourself.
out of those, pretty close between DA:I and Uncharted 4.
DA: I came out in a pretty weak year for games though if I recall. UC4 severely lacked gameplay substance.
Shadow of Mordor is another pretty mediocre game that got a lot of GOTY attention
Honestly, I didn't like Shadow of Mordor at first, but now I can't seem to stop playing Shadow of War...
Sure, there is a lot to dislike about Shadow of Mordor:
Weak mission structure
Repetitive environment
Repetitive combat
But there is just sooooooo much more to like about these games:
Fun gameplay
Lots of variation in what you're doing: parkour, riding mounts, slashing orcs, stealth, dominating orcs, building an army, using your army strategically, ...
Insanely deep character customization
Witty dialogue from orcs... and returning orcs
More variation in scenery in the second game
More visual character customization in the second game
Nemesis system is the shining mechanic of both games
You can like Shadow of Mordor, or you can dislike it, it's far from a mediocre game though.
Look at this:
I'm riding a dragon into an enemy stronghold breathing fire on all who dare stand in my way.
Not a lot of games let you do this. Not a lot of games give you that much freedom as SoM/SoW do.
I really liked Shadow of Mordor until somewhere around halfway through when I just became too powerful for the game to be as fun anymore. To me, GOTY consideration is a joke because it came out the same year as Bayonetta 2. Shadow of Mordor is a good, not great, game that I could see getting a GOTY nomination in a weak year, but it actually winning awards was shocking to me. If I were scoring the game, I'd give it a 7/10. It does a whole lot of things well, but doesn't really do any one thing great.
