Devil May Cry 2
The bait & switch mess that was MGS2...
that's pretty much all I can think of right now.
edit. oh, and FF's VIII, X-2, and XII
XIII? I find this game underrated. The settings not as good but the characters are very interesting. I haven't quite finished it yet but I love it so far. Though, the random encounters are a bit too frequent. Not sure how it compares to VII, but to be honest I don't think it should. Agree with XII though. So boring I couldn't even finish it.Ever heard of an opinion? Because I am surely not the only one who was complained about Fallout 3. You need to just chill out for a moment and realize that opinions can neither be right or wrong, they change from person to person and validity does not revolve around your own outlook and, yes one hour is more then enough to guage an opinion, especially when my friend has discussed his experiences with the game after my little trial and so have thousands of other people online. Just because I dont like the game you like doesnt mean I'm trolling. Calm down. GoGoGadget_Yes I've heard of an opinion and yes I know that other people's opinions will differ from mine, however you are going pretty far out there to claim that Fallout 3 is one of the worst sequels ever.... And how are you not trolling? You had your other thread locked with your little poem about ditching the 360 and giving massive praise to the PS3.... Sounds like a troll/fanboy to me. To me this just seems like an attempt to get people riled up and I'm simply calling you on it. I just find it funny when people slam on a game when they haven't spent time with it or not played it at all. To me, an hour isn't long enough on a game like Crackdown 2 to judge it. Did you even jump online? And this is the sort of game you have to build your own character, do things your own way, not jump in on your friend's game after they've ran through alot of stuff and accomplished majority of things. Heck even a great game like Red Faction: Guerrilla can seem like a bad game if you start playing towards the end of the game... My point isn't that everyone else is wrong that is a nay sayer of Crackdown 2, I know not everyone is going to like every game, my point is that there are numerous people out there who will dismiss a game solely based on reviews alone and let others think for themselves. I also know that not every game is going to be loved and praised by all, like Fallout 3 for instance. For me I don't like hack and slash games so I pass on games like God of War and Ninja Gaiden. Just because I don't like them does that make them a bad game? Nope, just means they aren't for me and I can easily sit back and say they are probably great games considering the review scores and how many people enjoy the games. If you ask me if I like the game, I'll flat out say no, but I'm not going to call them bad games since I'm biased against them. So congrats on your opinion, you played a game that someone else had already put alot of time into for about an hour, then decided you didn't like. Perhaps the concept of being open to other games is new to you, and maybe I'm the odd man out here finding it to be abit much to claim that some of these games are the worst sequels ever. Better than the originals? Maybe not, but worst sequels ever for some? I don't think so and it seems most don't think so either.
Brothers in Arms: Hells highway
Bioshock 2
FEAR 2
Assault on Dark Athena
Splinter Cell Double Agent(This game SUUUUUUCCCCCCCKS!!!!)
Raiden wasn't a problem compared to other aspects of the game. The core game is actually great, and made good improvements over the original in terms of mechanics. It also had a nice audio/visual presentation.[QUOTE="CDUB316"]
MGS2 > MGS1
seriously, idk why everyone hates raiden so much....i guess it's because he took your precious snake away?
i mean snake was still in the damn game...the gameplay formula was the exact same, the ONLY thing different was playing as raiden rather than snake is all, and i enjoyed that more
snake is a great character, but c'mon, you guys got way to hurt by that

That's about it really.
Deep down, the game is an absolute mess because of how terrible the storyline is and how poorly it's told. Video game stories couldn't be any more convoluted than what MGS 2 was, and it's only worse when you're frequently taken out of the game with the excessive amounts of cutscenes and codec conversations, which end up being back to back on more than a few occasions. I usually don't dock off marks heavily for a poor story, but when it takes up the majority of the game, well...you know. With some frankly bad writing and pacing with the story, it was more like an instruction manual to developers on what you should not do when telling a story in a video game.
So the problem was Raiden, and absolutely everything else surrounding him. It's like Kojima didn't even make the attempt in having the story make the least bit sense. It was stupid when you seen charachers like Vamp & Fortune, and just eventually became miraculously stupid when Arsenal Gear came into the mix, messing up an already messed up plot.
On top of this, the game was filled with awkward moments. The president grabbing Raiden's crotch, Otacon being seduced by his stepmom, etc.
The atrocious storyline MGS2 had is the main reason why I don't even want to touch MGS4. I can only imagine how pretentious that game's story is.
MGS4 is far worse when it comes to that aspect.Raiden wasn't a problem compared to other aspects of the game. The core game is actually great, and made good improvements over the original in terms of mechanics. It also had a nice audio/visual presentation.[QUOTE="mo0ksi"]

The biggest problem I had with VIII was the Draw system, which, combined with the summons being unskippable and eventually the ONLY effective method of fighting, just slowed the game right down to the point of being unplayable for me. That, along with not only topping VII in terms of melodrama, but going so far over the top with it that every time a cutscene comes up you just wanna cringe.

Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 2 comes to mind when I think of games that didn't impress me as much as it predecessor.
I can't believe I am going to be the first saying this, but Dino Crisis 3 totally wins this thread.
The first two games were incredibly good titles that showed that Resident Evil wasn't even the best Capcom had to offer in terms of survival horror.
The 3rd game is just notoriously bad to the point I sadly refused to even touch it with how much negativity I have heard surrounding it.
How they went from the cliffhanger that was in Dino Crisis 2 to freaking dinosaurs in space is beyond me..,
But yeah, Dino Crisis 3 wins for single-handedly killing a great franchise.
LostProphetFLCL
This. While games like Oblivion have disappointed me greatly, absolutely nothing compares to the atrocity that was Dino Crisis 3. The first two games were just so good. The third was complete failure. If you loved the series and played 3, other sequels just don't compare to that disappointment.
But I will say this: Duke Nukem Forever.

How could I forget.... I guess I just blocked it from memory.. it was painful. I loved the first 2.It's worth giving them a go, and they will run on any system; these weren't demmanding games when they were released. If you do choose to, visit http://www.nma-fallout.com/ for the updates and fan patches (and/or resolution patches) for either game.I've considered just getting Fallout 1 and 2 to see how good they were for the sake of comparison. My laptop isn't too good for gaming but I can't imagine I would need any sort of impressive specs to play them now
BPoole96
That and it might be worth reading the Fallout 1 manual before playing it (should be available digitally or on disk), as this isn't a game that gives you much of an in-game tutorial.
Oh and a word to the wise - Fallout 2's starting area is insanely tough for characters specialising in anything but combat or agility traits; so if you do play a character weaker in those builds, sneak as often as possible and save often (I think the fan patches do balance out the insanity of the difficulty).
Far Cry 2: I don't even know why they bothered calling it far cry 2 it could have been a new ip.
SF4: 5 characters play very similarly and to add to that most characters from past SF games were excluded. On day one of buying Tekken 6 all characters from Tekken 5 were available. There was no need for Super Tekken 6.
MGS2: You had to play through the rest of the game as raiden. That to me is like playing a Batman game then having to switch to playing robin!
[QUOTE="KevinButlerVP"]probably Crackdown 2toxicmogDoubt you played it :P I am going with X-2 (Daft game) FF8 Overlord 2, GTA San Andreas, GTA 4 (Although better than SA it was still dull.), Also going to knock DA Awakenings as well, as the first DA origins was amazing, and the awakenings expansion just killed it for me. Even more because none of the original characters returned, which they should have seeing as they where all still alive...GTA SA I found to be stunning. A true masterpiece for the PS2.
Off the top of my head ...
MGS4
Far Cry 2
Crackdown 2
GTA4
Disgaea 3
EDIT: How could i forget ... FABLE 2. What a downright terrible game on all accounts. There was not one good thing about that game.
Story?what story.
Graphics?Yeah ... no
Gameplay? You're having a laugh

I dont remember seeing this comment! Wow moderators were fast! Yes, I do have an Xbox 360. Would you like me to take some photos of MY xbox AND stack of games? I trully am converting to the PS3 as I am not a fanboy, I dont not have any obligations to blindly serve megacorporations by slandering their opposition and calling everyone who doesnt agree with them a troll :)The first was made by Crytek. It is pretty much just like Crysis. You have a set path, but the individual areas are pretty big, just not totally free roam like Far Cry 2. It was also better than Crysis imo.Far Cry 2....i never played the first one but anything is better than that....

Because taking the time to do your little rap and make a thread about going to the PS3 isn't slandering the opposition? I must have missed something some where along the lines.... And I couldn't care less what console you go with personally, with that thread and how blindly you are slamming some great games here (though a few I do agree with are terrible --> F.E.A.R. 2) you just come off as fanboy to me. I just find some of the claims here to be rather bold and abit far fetched. But people are only going to focus on one part of this. @ Game-Fu Just how am I a fanboy with what I'm posting? Unless I'm a fanboy of games then yes, I'm a fanboy.I dont remember seeing this comment! Wow moderators were fast! Yes, I do have an Xbox 360.
