The problem with any game like that, one reason that the last Civil War-based game didn't work is because of the muzzle loaders. No one wants to spend 30 seconds reloading your weapon, not to mention the tactics used then...wouldn't work in a video game....unless you were directing it ala a top down strategy game

Call of duty is a fast paced game, the weapons used in that time are anything but fast paced, so I don't think so.

No. They should instead channel their energy on hiring script-writers for a story that isn't filled with plot-holes, stupid and superfluous over-the-top sequences that detract and blatantly stolen set-pieces.

They should have the entire game like that scene in The Patriot. Shoot once, run to another weapon you laid out beforehand, repeat.

No, muskets don't have laser-like ammo like you can reasonably say today with modern guns(compared to muskets of the time), muskets are very inaccurate and very low range so CoD would be a bad virtualisation of the Civil War.

I continue to want a Korean War game. It could be amazing, but no one ever even tries. I kind of see it as a game that does campaign co-op of at least 4 people. I think 8 would be awesome.

Korean war game? That would be terrible. All the weapons from that era have pretty much already been covered in previous Call of Duty games and the geography of Korea isn't very diverse.

With the inevitable release of Modern Warfare 3, I'd like to see a few things changed or introduced. For starters, I don't want another over the top stupid incoherent and completely implausible mess of a plot-line that came with Black Ops. I don't want a main character being introduced and then dying literally 5 minutes later. How the **** am I supposed to give a **** about the already one-dimensional and heavily cliched characters if they're going to die 5 minutes later anyway? Bring back the epic scenes of faux large-scale warfare that was seen in Call of Duty through Call of Duty 4. I like feeling like I'm part of a greater effort, even though everything is scripted. Improve the A.I. because the clowns with autism and pin-point laser perfect accuracy just don't cut it anymore. Thanks.

try the batttlegrounds mod for Half Life 2 on PC, its a revolutionary war mod and everyone has a musket, you literally, have one shot to kill someone (or face the long reload time) and then it boils down to tense melee combat. as a Call of duty game it would be terrible, as a niche game with a totally different playstyle it would be lots of fun

Uh... Yes it is? And Korea had plenty of very unique period weapons, mainly because of the quick pace of change in military tech, you had transition from Light/Medium/Heavy tanks to the MBT concept, hugely overpowered rifles were being replaced by assault rifles, old fashioned piston driven aircraft were flying side by side with jets and helicopters etc. You would be running around with a M1 Garand and Bazooka fighting AK-47 equiped NK and IS-2 tanks while calling in F-86 Sabre and F-80 Shooting Star airstrikes ala WW2 or dirivng around a Centurion MBT and Chruchill Crocodiles in basicaly WW1 style trench warfare

You could get away with maybe a late cival war game, they started to use some repetears. But still i think it would be to slow paced. Even WWI would be much more slow paced, since it was pretty much all bolt actions.

It could work if you are allowed to build a small 10 man team to help out the North or South, whichever side you play on. Doing raids on camps, capturesupply trains, Guerrilla warfare would be the only way to do it.

I don't see why not. COD games are already unrealistic, give everyone sleight of hand to make it take like 5 seconds to reload, and then give people like 10 knives per person that can be used to throw at one another. And of course the knife already exists in COD as a ridiculously overpowered weapon, so that could be fully featured in this version as well.

i think a civil war game would probably focus more on melee, the bayonet charge, and cod's commano leap the game would essentially be like playing MW2 holding and the package glitch

Civil War rifles had rifiling in them, and that is part of the reason why the Civil War was so deadly, tactics for war with muskets that couldn't shoot straight was being used with rilfes that could now shoot straight for the most part...

There aren't any games covering it because the war isn't very well known in the West.

I just want some sort of legitimate World War 3 game. MW2 just didn't feel like that much to be honest, I'm talking about Russia, China, US and NATO, the middle east, etc. in an all out conventional war. The closest thing I've played to that was Frontlines Fuel of War and it could have improved in dozens of areas.

Well, according to Call of Duty, "modern warfare" is fought in the exact same manner as World War 2 was, so it isn't that hard to imagine them just doing the Civil War in the exact same way, too, ignoring all practical concerns.

Because the US got their behinds handed to them by a bunch of 3rd world yahoos in open combat. When was the last time you heard that a US Marine company was defeated and sent running? Well that happaned alot of times in Korea
