If they implemented this for next gen where you had to input a game code to activate it, would you be fine with this? There is no always online requirement just a requirement to activate it online once.

Once I activate it can I sell the disc?
What will happen to the next person who goes to play the game?
There is already DRM on consoles that prevent burned discs from being played without modifying the console.
An activation code is completely pointless.

Well, I don't really have a 'problem' with this, but it would basically put consoles on par with PC when it came to buying/selling games.Â
So, I would probably favour consoles less, and the PC platform a little more as a result. Buying/selling games used is a rare advantage consoles have, if they lost it I might as well just go with PC. Â for multiplats etc.Â
I think it's more of a way to attack used games than piracy. Once an activation code is used only that user has the right to play it.There is already DRM on consoles that prevent burned discs from being played without modifying the console.

if developers/publisher ever do any of this I swear I'm not gonna buy a single game ever again and if I can I will pirate them all and teach people how to do it too for those that want to do the same. If developers/publishers want more money then they should lower the budgets and focus less on graphics and more on gameplay. Death to the Triple A then!

Well, I know I definitely don't support that in a retail market with retail pricing structure.
So are you simply entitled to better pricing or are you just broke?Sure, as long as I'm paying 10 bucks for a game cause there is zero chance I'm okay with that happening with how game pricing is currently structured.
ActicEdge
I'd go PC only. No used games means no console to me. I like the freedom of being able to play a game at a friends house or being able to sell my old games for new ones on console.
Â
Once they start doing crap like this, a console is irrelevant to me, and I will only buy games on PC. It's the only platform with infinite backwards compatibility and infinite forwards-compatibility.
The true colour of consolites is showing through.... won't even pay the prices for games  hypocrits.if developers/publisher ever do any of this I swear I'm not gonna buy a single game ever again and if I can I will pirate them all and teach people how to do it too for those that want to do the same. If you don't like it, you don't have to make a purchase. As long as they do not force you to update games to play offline, like that sh!tty drm called steamworks does,I am cool with it.

Nope, I wouldn't want that.
I find Steam annoying, but I deal with it since they have a lot of cheap games. I have four PCs, but the PC process is not consumer rights friendly. It's inevitable that companies will do their utmost to remove our rights piece by piece and force us to buy new and not support used. I never will ever buy a game on Steam that's full price / expensive because you lose the value of the game. If this happened to consoles, I would buy those huge blockbuster AAA games cheap because they aren't worth a damn afterwards. You can't resell the damn thing. I have hundreds, probably close to a thousand digital games that I can't sell. Tied to my account. They have no value for the collector's market, and in SW, that's a point that seems forgotten A LOT. People are short sighted, at least the many I run into in SW, it's a bit frustrating.
I can't imagine why they would do this, especially the rumors leaning towards the 720, because it would cut off millions upon millions of offline console gamers. That would actually be a huge win for Nintendo Wii U. The only incentive to implement this would be to remove used/rented games from the market.
I don't rent games, but I will defend gamers rights to rent them.
I buy more than one machine as well, and being able to sell my games, gift my games, collect my games is rather significant.
No deal.
i am only fine with how 90%+ market ios digtal on PC because of it's price.
Â
price on consoles isn't going change at least i don't see it. Ms/sony stores charges full retail for games so they don't make retailer mad which is B.S in my opinionÂ
Â
also sales on games on PC out weights consoles  in every way so ya i am fine with my games being tied to my account as i always get my games cheaperÂ
steam doesn't force no one update games. Shows you how much you know. It's just default option that can be easily turned off. ÂAs long as they do not force you to update games to play offline, like that sh!tty drm called steamworks does,I am cool with it.

It would only add to the pile of codes you can put in if you pre-order. There were like 5 with Absolution. Holy shitballs, it took me a while to get started.freedomfreak
at that rate you going need a scan gun hooked to your consoleÂ

So the code could only be used once, no way son. LustForSoulIt would be tied to your account and usable anywhere where you can log into your PSN .....

Been using Steam since this first day it was released and I honestly can't say that I've ever encountered anything like that :?
This would not be good, because you wouldn't be able to sell the game used. If someone else bought the game from you, they'd have to pay some stupid fee to the publisher to activate the game again just to play it on their system. This is why no one resells PC games anywhere anymore. This is fine for STEAM when you pay only $5 or $10 for a game and it's DD, but with a physical $60+ game, it's not going to work.If they implemented this for next gen where you had to input a game code to activate it, would you be fine with this? Your games are probably patched, then.Uninstall a game, delete all the patch data in the steam folder, install the game again, and then try running it in offline mode without updating it.The POS software ("steam") will tell you that the game is not ready to be played in offline mode.
So no second hand trade?
If it becomes cheaper that way, sure. You know, if it means Steam sales and such people can effectively buy the games for second hand prices anyway.
And to know for sure that the games will remain in the rotation I'd need the guarantee that the system used to authenticate
would be running foreverly, or
would at some point be taken out of the process, or
would be 1 of more ways to purchase and play a game on the system.
Ofcourse console peasants wouldn't want that, they want to rip off developers buy trading their games in, filthy pirates.MBirdy88You don't know the difference between Piracy and Used Games obviously. There is a HUGE difference. Please stay away from the podium. How did these kids get in here anyways?

How did these kids get in here anyways? technically, sorta same thing in the eyes of most publishers and some devs. That game disc can get passed on to tons of people just like a crack version and they don't recicve a penny after the original purchese of that disc or file.
